Over the past 5 month's I have been working around the clock on a rather huge project, and now the time has come to tell you all about it.
In 2024 I lodged a planning application seeking to relocate Emma’s Crazy Creatures from my home in Rochdale to a new, larger location in Rosendale. This move is essential to support the growth that we have achieved since I started this journey in 2019, due to our popularity and success which is thanks to you our followers and customers. The proposal for the site in Rossendale brings with it a range of benefits to the local area as well as to the animals (many of which are rescues) and their welfare.
The proposal at Ewood Bridge Mill will allow us to deliver our vision for a well-designed premises with the best quality facilities for animals and visitors alike. Not only will this allow for an increased visitor capacity, but the business will also be providing support for local people through part-time work opportunities and work experience for young people wanting to develop their knowledge of animal care and wildlife. Schools in the area will also benefit from the continuation and expansion of our capacity for visits and accessible opportunities for children to have a unique experience with animals in a way they may not be able to have elsewhere. We will also be providing care for rescue animals within the community zoo, which is limited for these types of exotic animals elsewhere in the area.
At this time, the Council are considering the refusal of our application for planning permission at the end of January. Without our new site it will not be possible continue the business to meet the full level of demand that we are experiencing.
We are in the process of preparing additional information and clarification to respond to the concerns raised by the Council about our application.
