CUXTON DART REPORT
2nd September 2025
Cuxton 6 - Larkfield 7
Well, it was one of those nights where the scoreboard didn’t quite tell the whole story. We went into the game with a skeleton crew (cheers to those who stepped in), and without Nick Feeney steering the ship we were already on the back foot. Nick, you were badly missed, hurry up and get well because the team isn’t the same without you!
The singles didn’t exactly go to plan. Plenty of solid scores, but somehow the doubles had a personal vendetta against us. Before we knew it, we were 4–2 down and starting to eye up the bar more than the board.
Then came the pairs, and suddenly it was as if someone had flicked a switch. Three wins on the trot, a few nerves jangling, but mostly big grins and loud cheers. At 5–4 up, we allowed ourselves to dream that maybe, just maybe, this was our night.
The triples gave us a taste of both ends of the spectrum. We bagged the first one and started strutting about like world champions… then promptly got reminded by the second that darts has a cruel sense of humour. That left it all on the team game, and, well, let’s just say our fairytale ending never made it past the planning stage.
Still, there were highlights. Jay deserves a nod for coolly tidying up an 88 finish when it mattered, proper class under pressure. No 180s to brag about, but plenty of steady tons and above, and of course the usual banter flying thicker than the chalk dust.
So yes, we lost. But we laughed, we fought, and we made enough noise to convince ourselves we were winning half the time. Next week, with a full squad, watch out. We are away to Kilbarn Club.
