There are several different roles and responsibilities to organising a party so which friends / family can you ask to help you?

- Could a friend and their kids be in charge of organising a couple of party games instead of buying a gift perhaps?

- Could you ask a couple of people to help half hour before the end to do collecting items, washing up, drying up ?

- What could you delegate to some kids? Exchange ‘first dibs’ to the buffet if they come and lay the table!

- It’s much easier to stay on top of party waste if you have help, as this way it’ll be less overwhelming !

Party waste can be so frustrating, so some solutions:
- offer reusable cups to replace the single use ones often available by the water dispenser
- bag up the food waste seperately (food waste in landfill is not good!!) and take home to put in your council food bin / composter or (like in this case) offer the food to a person who has a pig!!
- reusable plates/bowls/platters
- reusable decorations
- get a team together of 3-4 people (most parents are likely to help if you ask) 1-2 collecting up the items from the party, 1 washing up, 1 drying up

Access to lending libraries is transforming communities—whether it’s tool libraries, libraries of things, or toy libraries. These initiatives are helping tackle overconsumption, reduce waste, and create much needed community hubs. 🌍✨

Many lending libraries have successfully added party kits to their inventory, and some have found that party kits even attract new members to join.

1. What can be recycled in the pink recycling sack?

Steel and aluminium (no need to remove labels)

Keep your outside bin locked using the handle locking mechanism

• use the free compostable food waste liners provided to line your kitchen caddy, simply tie the top when full and put it into the large collection bin
• do not use carrier bags in your blue bin they are not compostable
• do not leave any food outside the blue bin. If you require a second food waste bin please let us know using the online form
• put your house number on your bin to make sure it is returned to you after collection
• keep your bin clean it will prevent smells, using liners will help with this
• don't forget that you can still compost at home, but items which cannot be home composted can be recycled using your blue bin

Thanks for hiring us at your halloween party this week Cheryl Archer. The team work for washing and drying up definitely worked wonders.

To anyone else hosting a party, if you get some helpful parents who are happy to lend a hand, then a 3 person system worked really well this week:
- 1 person collecting cups/plates/items
- 1 person washing up
- 1 person drying up/putting away in the box

If you do your own washing up then it saves us a job here at base and saves you money on your party hire!

What I love about our little party kit hire, is everytime someone uses us, the kids learn a little more about business (and life) skills. They get to have a go at inputting the data on a spreadsheet, counting the items, preparing the kit and generally having some responsibility and learning about how to run a business.

Recently, myself and the kids spent hours re-designing our flyer and they learnt so much about designing software / using a computer, so here is our up to date flyer.

Happy Birthday to my daughter Millie, aged 9 today.

The party kit was set up last year by me (Sam) and my eldest daughter Millie.

I am a home educating mum in Rochford, Co-founder of the Eco Essex online community and I am an Occupational Therapist by background.

Living as ethically and sustainably as possible is important to our family and this party kit is a way of me introducing the real world of work to my children in a fun way about a topic close to our hearts.
