This little lady was made for one of these boxes. Can’t get over how stunning she is in here 🥹🥹🥹!! We are now almost at the end of a very busy April and looking forward to what’s coming up in May as Wedding Season hits full steam. For all our new followers who have recently joined us, here’s a little debrief on what we do, how we do it and why! Here at the Bridal Shower we use a Wet cleaning process to restore and preserve all of the garments that come through the door!So, why should you Choose a wet clean over a dry clean?Most, if not all dresses will suggest a dry clean on the label, however, this is not always the best option. During a wet clean we are able to control the temperature of the process a lot easier which allows us to avoid “baking” in any tricky stains at high temperatures - like you might find during a dry clean. This process is a lot gentler on the fibres. A wet clean also allows us the freedom to use different products on specific areas to treat nasty stains. It allows the whole dress to be refreshed and inspected thoroughly and has a less likely chance of shrinkage or damage to the fabric. Lastly and most importantly, it is better for the environment!! During a wet clean we are able to keep temperatures low and monitor the amount of water used. Additionally, the typical products used in a wet clean have a lot less harmful chemicals in them and are less likely to pollute the air with toxins. For anyone wondering why getting your Wedding Dress cleaned is so expensive, let’s have a wee chat!
After your dress has been dropped off we inspect it for any visible stains or damage and take lots of photos.
We then identify the fibres in each individual layer of the garment before deciding what products will be suitable for the cleaning process.
For this dress in particular - although it may not seem as dirty as the others - it had lots of grass and foliage caught in the train, which had to be hand picked out before getting wet!
We then have to take extra precautions to avoid any colour running/fading from the flowers onto other layers. This involves a more delicate and slow approach - Cleaning layers individually in controlled temperatures.
Next, we give it a final cold rinse and allow it to fully air dry before moving on to the pressing and steaming process.
Each layers is then pinned up and gradually brought down individually for a steam, ending with the top floral layer. We steam every single flower to flatten out any folds and creases that have occurred in this process.
Finally, the dress is left to air out for another day or so, before being packed away into its bag or box ready to be collected.
But of course, it’s photographed to death first!

It’s more than just flinging your dress in a box!! Each dress that has been cleaned has been left to dry before being pressed and steamed. It is then left for another day or so to fully air out. This ensures there is no moisture inside your gorgeous box! It’s then folded away neatly - wrapped & stuffed with acid free tissue paper, to prevent discolouration of the garment and to help shape your dress nicely into its new home.
