Making the Change
When I first began studying floristry at college, floral foam was a cornerstone of our training. That trusty green brick became my go-to toolāit was standard practice and felt like the backbone of floral design. Fast forward to today, and Iāve found myself on a journey of discovery, exploring sustainable floristry and now turning my back on what was once my comfort blanket.
Over the past few years, Iāve had the joy and privilege of attending specialised courses in wedding floral design, where I was introduced to foam-free techniques that are kinder to the environment. Creating structures with chicken wire, using vessels with water, and working with moss has revolutionised how I approach floral design. Each method Iāve learned has stretched and challenged me, pushing me to think differently and embrace creativity in new ways.
Iām so grateful to the incredible teachers and schools that have opened my eyes to this sustainable shift in floristry. A huge thank you to Tallulah Rose Flower School, McQueens Flower School, Bath Flower School, Simply By Arrangement, Layla Robinson and Joseph Massie for sharing your expertise and inspiring me to make this change. Youāve shown me that beauty in floristry doesnāt have to come at the expense of the planet.
Hereās to a kinder approach to floristryāand to letting go of that green brick for good! Forever grateful for this journey and the ongoing learning it brings.
Thank you

Facts About Wedding Buttonholes
When it comes to weddings, even the smallest details hold a lot of meaningālike the humble buttonhole (or boutonniere)! Here are some fun facts and tips about these floral accents:
A Nod to History: Buttonholes date back to ancient Greece, where grooms wore flowers as a symbol of love and warding off evil spirits.
More Than Just Flowers: Modern buttonholes can feature herbs (like rosemary for remembrance), berries, or even succulents for a unique twist!
Match Made in Heaven: A perfectly designed buttonhole complements the weddingās theme and colour palette, often tying in with the bridal bouquet or dĆ©cor.
Small but Mighty: A good buttonhole is durable, lightweight, and secured to the lapel, ensuring it looks flawless throughout the celebration.
Seasonal Touch: Using in-season flowers not only ensures freshness but also ties your buttonhole beautifully to the time of year.
Personalisation is Key: Whether itās the groomās favorite flower or a symbolic plant, buttonholes are a perfect way to add a personal touch.
Size Matters: Buttonholes should be elegant and proportionalānot too big or heavyāso they enhance the outfit without overwhelming it.
A well-crafted buttonhole is more than just a flower; itās a reflection of the dayās love story!
Which buttonhole style suits you best? Classic roses, rustic wildflowers, or something modern like succulents? Let us know below! š

What a joy!
Such an honour to be able to sprinkle some Rory & Rose Christmas Magic into the Accident and Emergency Department at MCHT. With just an hour available, some of the medical team, popped up to the training department to take part in our wreath decorating workshop. A glass of Nosecco and Christmas tunes in the background, everyone took a little time out to create the loveliest wreaths.
Thank you so much for having us.

Delighted to showcase our 2024 Christmas Wreath Collection, all named after some of our favourite Christmas movies.
1. The Holiday - this gorgeous girl named after my favourite film. The beautiful cream and neutral shades reminded me of that stunning cream coat that Cameron Diaz wore at the cottage! Do you remember? Waxflower, Gypsophilla, Nigella, Poppy Seed Heads, Eryngium, Acacia, Pinus Strobus, Eucalyptus, Nordman, Noble Pine and Cypresse Conifer just a few floral mentions, yes sheās abundant.
2. Love Actually - natural, lush and sprinkled with Rosehips. This beauty is perhaps our most traditional wreath, with lush burgundy, red and orange tones. Finished beautifully with a drizzle of velvet.
3. Itās a Wonderful Life -stunning blue and lavender tones are the theme for this wreath. Limonium adds the froth and Virburnum berries add a little natural sparkle. Dressed with a lush blue velvet bow.
All wreaths lovingly curated on Welsh moss and the fir sourced locally from @ivycottagetreefarm, in Wilmslow, thank you Sarah x
If you would like to buy one of these girls to hang out at your home this Christmas, please get in touch. We have just a few order spots available.

šø Fun with Flowers: Celebrating the Final Week of Our Floristry Course at Macclesfield College! šø
Wednesday marked the final week of our latest Fun with Flowers course at Macclesfield College, where students delved into creating stunning parallel arrangements with Agra wool and moss, capturing that wild, meadow-inspired vibe. Over the past three weeks, this course has been a beautiful journey into the art of floristry, designed as a gentle introduction to floral design with a special emphasis on sustainable techniques.
Throughout the course, students have learned the essentialsāfrom conditioning flowers and mastering the spiralling technique for hand-tied bouquets to working with chicken wire for structure and the skill of wiring. Itās been inspiring to see everyoneās creativity bloom as they developed their own arrangements, learned the importance of form and structure, and, above all, took time out to simply focus on the joy of flowers. Three hours each week, immersed in blooms and greens, away from the hustle and bustleāpure bliss.
As we wrap up this term, weāre thrilled to announce our upcoming Countdown to Christmas course @macclesfieldcollege Join us for three weeks of festive floristry:
Week 1: Christmas wreath-making
Week 2: Lush seasonal garlands
Week 3: Beautiful floral arrangements for your festive table
