Hopefully, this won't come as a surprise as I've spoken to a lot of you but the sign has come down and tomorrow is moving day!
We're heading into Scarborough for family reasons but sadly this means I'm having to say goodbye to my Thistledown flower patch. The outside space at the new place isn't big enough to run a business from so unfortunately, this means I won't be able to continue with Thistledown Flowers for the time being at least. 😞😢
However, there is some good news! I'm planning on working with the lovely Molly from to help her create a new patch over in Sawdon, so please follow her on Facebook or Instagram (do it now!) to keep up-to-date with our progress and hopefully she will have exciting news soon about signing up for subscription flowers for the 2025 season!
In the meantime, don't forget you can get lovely seasonal blooms from Jill she's at Wykeham Market every Friday or from Julie .flowers. or for further afield check out the website.

Finally, and most importantly, I'd like to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you for supporting my business over the last 4 and a half years. Whether it's a comment on my post or a chat on the phone, if I've been lucky enough to deliver a bouquet to you, ❤️💐 or for you, 😃 or if you have trusted me with your wedding or funeral flowers 🥰 every interaction has brought me so much joy. When his journey began and I never would have believed then that I could run my own business and that it could be successful and I have you all to thank for that. I don't like to think that I'm stopping, just that I'm pausing and getting ready for the next adventure.

Here's a couple of wrist corsages I created for Sophie and Harry's wedding earlier this month. I don't do many wrist corsages..... I'm not sure if they aren't so common or it's just me!? Personally, I think they are a lovely way to wear flowers, especially if you don't have a jacket to pin a buttonhole to..... would you wear one?? xx

I have a bunch of these medium-sized dried allium heads (I think there's 19 altogether) for sale. The bunch is £15 delivered locally or £12 if collected. They make a lovely decoration as they are but also can be used in autumn wreathes or spray-painted for Christmas decorations! Getting married or know someone who is? I have some bags (compostable of course 😃!) of naturally-dried flower petal confetti for sale.
This is a mixture of mostly rose petals with some statice, larkspur, honesty and a few other bits to add colour and texture which I dried last flower season.
The confetti is £1.50/bag or if you buy 5 or more it's £1 per bag. I can post it if required (just ask for postage costs)
I have 32 bags altogether 💐🙂 when they are gone they're gone!

Molly and I have been creative with my collection of dried blooms from last year. Dried blooms are amazing because they last for ages...If you'd like to buy one let me know! I can deliver to Scarborough, Pickering and Malton.

It was such an honour to create this funeral wreath this week. The brief was to be seasonal and colourful and kind to the environment. This wreath was made with a moss-covered hazel base all gathered from our flower patch and the flowers were grown by me here in Snainton and tied on with jute twine so the whole wreath has no air miles and is fully compostable 💐💚 xx

We've just got back from a week away and I'm happy to say fresh flowers from Thistledown are here again, Hooray! We are officially open for the 2024 season 😃! Good morning everyone and welcome to 2024!
Sorry I'm a bit slow to the new year party but I've had a bit of a rubbish start to the year with a couple of coldly-type viruses one after the other 🙄 but now, apart from an annoying cough that's still hanging, around I'm feeling a bit more human! Hooray!
Yesterday, I began tidying up the bulb bed by the yard where, as you can see, the snowdrops are beginning to poke through! 🥰 I don't like to tidy too much as there's always loads of ladybirds and other insects hiding out for the winter but this bed just had cosmos in so there was just a few sticks (and of course the weeds that have been enjoying the mild winter! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣)
It's always super tempting to start sowing seeds now, but I have to sit on my hands for a bit until the days get a little longer..... don't worry though, there's loads of other jobs to do! 🤣🤣 Do let me know if you've started any garden jobs yet?! Jenny xx

We've done the last wreath, made the crackers, iced the cake, the kids have (finally!) broken up from school and I've maybe even wrapped a present or two 😉🎄🎁 this can only mean one thing.... it's time for Christmas!
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas! I'm looking forward to some relaxing family time but don't worry, I'll also be thinking about, and making plans for, all the beautiful flowers I'll be growing in 2024! 😃💐🌻🪻xx
