The script for our easter special event at Theatre Deli Sheffield this Saturday! Tickets here: https://tinyurl.com/55khvp52
Design requirements:
- Roles from base 3 scripts only
- Accessible to newer players (no madness, solo demon type, less complicated roles)
Despite being a custom script, I tried to make this as accessible as possible for players less experienced with BotC. The Undertaker was an important role to include as it encourages newer players to learn the benefit of ex*****ons, and ensuring games don't drag too long. Similarly, the Raven Keeper provides a perfect example of why good players might choose to bluff as something other than they are which is a key concept newer players sometimes take a while to catch on to.
A solo Shabaloth also helps keep the pace up as I expect to run this for large groups. Unlike in BMR I won't be giving away the demon type by having the Shabaloth regurgitate, and so I feel like I am more likely to use the option as more of a balancing mechanic. If the evil team are really not doing well, perhaps due to kills being blocked by an Exorcist or Minstrel, then the Shabaloth will likely keep their food down. The Shabaloth art works best for a demon bunny too, so there's that.
The Evil Twin serves as this script's safety net for the demon against slayer shots or an unlucky ex*****on. With quite a powerful town it was important to have a few sources of droisoning, and a Baron brings some outsider modification and gives the evil team some nice flexibility with their social strategy.
One small change I've made to the script that even experienced players might not have noticed is that I have removed the "(except travellers)" condition from the Minstrel's ability text. As I am pretty certain that we won't have travellers in our games, this just sidesteps the confusion for newer players who may not know what travellers are. That said, I will have to make sure players understand when 'dusk' is.
The role I'm least certain of at the moment is the Town Crier, as it feels like there might be slightly too many sources of misinformation for them. That said, it could be very useful against an Evil Twin, and gets players into the habit of paying close attention to the nomination phase.
Any suggestions for improvement are welcome, and if you're around Sheffield this Saturday then it would be great to have you! The easter Bunny requires fresh blood, after all...
