Do you want a DJ that plays those Christmas tunes...? OR,
Do you need an entertainer who not only plays those Christmas songs but also dresses up as Father Christmas to entertain you and your guests?

1st Contact Discos will perform for longer periods and play a wider range of music to suit the ages of your guests. If you have a favourite track or a particular style of music you would like played, I will be able to accommodate you.

At 1st Contact Discos, we try to give you, the client, what you want, so when it comes to the booking form, we ask you everything to ensure we can get the right show for you.

1st Contact Discos has over 40 years of experience, ensuring you receive an experienced, all-round professional DJ and high-quality sound and lighting.

30th, 40th, 50th, 60th Birthdays - Weddings - Anniversaries - Christenings - Retirement - Charity - Children's Shows - 60's, 70's and 80's Fancy Dress Shows - Surprise Parties, Outdoor Events - Karaoke and Neon Lit (UV) Events.

I now also provide a ‘Mod, Northern Soul’ and Motown night with all your great tunes from that era, including The Who, The Kinks, The Jam, Northern Soul, Motown classics and many others.

Before you even contact a mobile disco company, you mustn't have your mind set on hiring the cheapest you can find.

Before you contact a mobile disco company, you shouldn't consider hiring the cheapest one. As in most things, you generally get what you pay for. Especially with a one-off event like a wedding, don't you want the best you can afford?

1st Contact Discos started way back in 1984.

It was earlier really as I performed at my own school disco in 1982-83 but the first performance was a wedding in 1984. This is where a friend of the family said ‘you should do this as a business’ and that was that! 1st Contact Discos was born.

1st Contact Discos is different as I will entertain and not just stand behind the music all night pressing buttons on a laptop. I will come out from behind the equipment and encourage the audience to dance and have fun.

When someone telephones 1st Contact Discos, they are talking to me, and it's me that will be turning up. I don't sub-contract work out to other DJ's. I won't take the booking and act as an agent. How many shows does the company send out on anyone night? If a company sends out 4 shows on a particular Saturday night, there's a 75% chance you won't get the DJ you spoke to when booking. If you need a gas engineer, legally they have to be GAS SAFE registered to do any work, there is no such legal body set up to protect you when hiring a DJ, so when dealing with a company that have multiple shows, how do you know the guy that turns up is going to be suitable? The answer, you don't!

Finally, Do you get good vibes from the company? In closing, please do not skimp on price... Any professional who meets all the above criteria won't come cheap, and I wouldn't hire them if they did. Price can depend on location, but don't expect to pay less than £240 for a 4 to 5-hour show. Any less than £240 and I'd be seriously concerned that they weren't entirely legal. It costs a lot of money to keep a mobile disco on the road - I have to make at least £8,000 a year before I break even, and there's nothing extraordinary in my accounts.
