Penkridge Scarecrow Festival

Once again a big thank you to all that went to great effort to make a scarecrow for the enjoyment of others, the businesses that displayed posters and held entry forms and to the Star Pub and Play at Lower Drayton Farm for their wonderfully kind prize donations.

We were able to raise £71.89 to help us toward rescuing and caring for cats in need.
We are very grateful! Hopefully we can do it again bigger and better next year!

Thank you so much to the 14 families that have made a marvellous effort for the Penkridge Scarecrow Festival!

If you haven’t sent me a photo of your scarecrow in place, please send one asap so that I can upload them tomorrow for voting.

I will be sending your maps over to you later today.

Picture of one of my foster kitties from the summer so you see where your donations go - George came in with five siblings, all so poorly. Severe cat flu, Pneumonia and the worst ringworm I’ve ever seen!
Now all better and enjoying being adored in his new home 🥰

The sun had his hat on this morning! And I bagged a helper in my eldest son! So we managed to get out another 150 or so leaflets 🤞

4 days left to get your applications in!

A few people have messaged to say they can’t join in because they’re away the week of the festival - I just wanted to confirm that you don’t need to be home to take part!

You have 12 days to create your scarecrow, pop it on display and send me your picture to enter our Best Scarecrow Competition. Voting will take place online only - no judges visiting your home.

We have two lovely prizes - a family play pass for Play at Lower Drayton and fish n chips for 4 donated by The Star pub!

I’ve started trying to leaflet around the village in the hope to spread the word a bit more, for those that don’t have fb or haven’t seen the posters.
I’m not very fast and can only do about an hour a day - but will do as much of the village as I can this week.

With just over a week to our application deadline, I’m slightly concerned about how few applications we have received.
This promises to be a wonderful village event, as well as a cheap and healthy half term activity, but only if everyone that has shown interest participates.
If you’re thinking about doing it, but haven’t got around to getting your form in, please do it asap.
We really do need community participation for the Scarecrow festival to go ahead.

Welcome to Penkridge Scarecrow Festival!

Our mapped walking trail of Scarecrows will begin on Saturday 22nd October until Sunday 30th October.

Residents of Penkridge can join in, by creating their own fun and unique Scarecrow and displaying it on their property for visitors to see.

Application forms will be available from local shops (Marshall’s Greengrocers, Trudie’s Sweet shop and Midland Homeware) or by downloading from the photo section of this page. All applications must be in by 15th September to allow me to create the map, ready for the event.

The Entry fee is £5 - which will be donated to help neglected and injured cats at Kats Cradle Rescue. All entrants will then be included in the "Best Scarecrow" competition. The winner will be chosen by public voting and prizes award. Prizes will be confirmed shortly!

All Scarecrow entrants will receive a free map. Walking trail visitors can purchase a map for a donation of £1 (via the page or local shops - again locations to be confirmed).

Please join in this lovely community event and bring a smile to your neighbours, give children a healthy fun activity during school half term, raise money for cats in need and support local businesses! Win Win!
