⚡️RICK & ALEX✨

These two looked like Hollywood superstars on their gorgeous day back in April at The Castlefield Rooms.

Their son Josh also played an important part in their day; walking Alex down the aisle, acting as Rick’s best man, and sheltering his mum from the rain with an umbrella!

Here’s Alex and Rick’s kind words about their ceremony.

“Jess was our wedding celebrant for our wedding on April 10th this year at The Castlefield Rooms in Manchester.
She was absolutely was amazing from start to finish and made us feel at ease from the get go. Following our initial phone call and filling out a questionnaire to get to know some personal details she came up with our script which was just perfect. It was the beautiful non traditional vibe that we wanted to go for with lots of little personal touches throughout for our ceremony.
Jess was so understanding and quick to help with any minor changes that we wanted to make (even in the near weeks before the big day!)
Having jess as our celebrant meant the service was a lot more personal and allowed her to mention the things that mattered the most to us on our day.
Jess was so lovely and made the service run smoothly and helped put us both at ease during the ceremony.
The gift she gave us was also such a kind gesture and was a beautiful idea.
If you are thinking of booking Jess as your celebrant we couldn’t recommend her enough!
Thank you again Jess for being so great and for playing such a big part in our special day.”

Hi! I’m going into holiday mode from tomorrow until 28th September. I’m off for 10 days in the sunshine with my family.

Before I go I just wanted to ask a favour. If I was your celebrant at your wedding between 2nd October ‘23 and 30th September ‘24, please could you take a few minutes to vote for me in The Wedding Industry Awards?

I’m nominated for ‘Best Celebrant - North West’ and ‘Best Newcomer’ and to even get through to the regional finals would be amazing at this point in my career. Only YOU can make it happen!

The link is below, so give it a click if you get a second please. Huge thanks to all the couples that have already voted for me ♥️

https://www.the-wedding-industry-awards.co.uk/north-west/celebrant/jess-the-celebrant/vote?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAaZg1zn525EjJrO3OARBLSXIsOZnGPCZajisF01iEFhz-nR2HswuVIJg3Dg_aem_evra3SaaZ2YlfUgiaulQGw

I’ll be answering emails on and off while I’m away, but these may be a little slower, so bear with me! 😎

⚡️W E D D I N G V O W S⚡️

Wedding vows can be anything you want them to be. They should be a true reflection of you, and your relationship with your partner.

You don’t have to be the best writer, the best public speaker, or a stand up comedian to make these truly wonderful.

There is no pressure from me at all when it comes to wedding vows. I can write these for you, use traditional vows, give you advice throughout the process of writing your own vows, or read your personal vows for you on your wedding day if the thought of saying them out loud fills you with dread!

I absolutely loved this vow from one of my recent weddings. It just summed up the couple’s love for travel and their sense of humour. It was really touching.

Let’s chat about all the ways your vows can really really reflect you and the way you feel about your partner.

✨JESS & LUKE✨

What better day to share these wonderful pictures of Jess & Luke’s big day. When it’s slightly grey and gloomy outside, these two just radiate sunshine and happiness!

I loved absolutely everything about Jess and Luke’s day; the venue, the gorgeous ceremony space, the florals, the table set up, and most of all the huge smiles on everyones faces throughout the whole day!

captured the day so wonderfully I found it hard to narrow it down to just a few pictures, but I hope they give you a warm glow, as they did me! ✨

💙Ste & Gayle💙

What a day yesterday was! The sun was shining over Liverpool as Gayle and Ste said ‘I do’ in the iconic Liver Buildings. The Queen Mary 2 even pulled into the docks an hour before the ceremony, providing the most impressive backdrop to their ceremony room.

Gayle and Ste have been together for 10 years and they have seven kids between them (plus their furry baby, Dougie the Rottie!) and it was a real family affair. Gayle was walked down the aisle by her sons and all their children played a role in their day.

Gayle and Ste had written wonderful, hilarious vows for each other that they asked me to read out (this is always an option of you are too full of nerves or emotion) and they also had more traditional vows following this, which worked really beautifully.

I always love going to Liverpool. There is a real warmth to people from that part of the world, and Gayle and Ste are no exception. It’s been an absolute pleasure being their celebrant and wish them both many years of happiness (and fabulous holidays!) together.

It was also lovely to meet who was there capturing the day, and the incredible who entertained us with gorgeous music.

Congratulations and Ste! 💕

✨HANNAH & JACK✨

How gorgeous are these pictures of Hannah and Jack’s big day back in July?!

The day had such a lovely, village fete style vibe to it. There were loads of activities for the many kids that were there, and the sun appeared after a drizzly start to the day!

I absolutely loved Hannah’s choice of bridesmaid dresses and just look at that cake!

It really was a totally joyful day 🧡

captured the day so perfectly.

✨Next month we’ll celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary. It seems like so long ago! We had the most fabulous day, and I wouldn’t really change any of it, but there are a few things that I wish I’d known then that would make me do things a little differently now…

1. Have a videographer. This is one I always say to my couples…Photos are absolutely great, but I wish so much that I could watch back moments of our day and see all the little bits I missed.

2. I wish I hadn’t been so bothered about whether everything was exactly as I planned. Things may work out a little differently, but you will be the only person to notice the minor details. Everyone else will be too busy having a good time! Trust your suppliers will ensure everything works out OK. Just relax and enjoy the day.

3. It’s so easy to forget to eat on your wedding day! You’re too busy chatting for canapés, too caught up in the day to bother with your mains, and by the time the evening food arrives you’re too busy on the dancefloor! Make time to eat, or you’ll regret it the next day!

4. I would say this, because I’m a celebrant, but it’s true. I had a registrar because I thought that was our only option and it added stress on our day when we were running slightly behind time. I wish I hadn’t had that pressure and that our ceremony had really told our personal story.

5. If you are planning a honeymoon after your wedding, especially if you have stayed away from home on your wedding night, leave a few days before you go on your honeymoon. I found the packing up after the wedding, unpacking when we got home, and then repacking for our honeymoon, quite stressful… although we did also have a 10 month old baby tagging along, so that adds an extra layer of stress! 😂. Give yourselves a bit of time to decompress after the day.

✨I hope you’ll find some of these tips useful. If you’ve had your wedding day, what would your tips/advice be for other couples planning their day? ✨

Flashback to Dan and Yakira’s wedding day on a sunny Good Friday back in March.

I’m back at the fabulous next month and I really can’t wait for Jason and Ananya’s big day there. It’s such a great venue 💜

☀️A LITTLE AUGUST UPDATE☀️

As usual on the 1st of every month I’ve uttered the words ‘I can’t believe it’s August already’ about five times today! It’s true though. The year is flying by!

I just thought I’d give a little update today as it’s been a while. We sold our house back in January and we are STILL waiting for a move date, which we are hoping to get before the end of the week…so by September we may hopefully be in our new home in the Ribble Valley 🤞🏼 I can’t wait to be closer to lots of my favourite wedding venues, but I’ll still cover the whole of the north west, so I’ll be back over in Manchester/Cheshire regularly which is nice (my family are all here too!)

August is strangely quiet for me, which means I have time to get script writing for my ceremonies later this year. It also means that I have more time to meet with you if you would like to chat about your big day. Whether you have already booked me, or you would like to meet for an initial chat to see if I’m the celebrant for you, just drop me a message and we can meet up for coffee (or wine!)

If you’re a wedding supplier in the Ribble Valley who would like to connect, please get in touch as I’d love to meet up with you too. Moving to a new area is nerve-wracking, but also very exciting!

I hope you’re all enjoying summer so far ☀️

✨Emmy Grace✨

Yesterday we celebrated the lovely Emmy at her naming day. We were blessed with a beautifully sunny day and friends and family gathered in the family garden to celebrate this lovely little girl.

Emmy’s parents had chosen six guideparents to offer Emmy their love and support throughout her life, and they all made promises to her yesterday. Guests were also asked to add something into a ‘time capsule’ that Emmy will open on her eighteenth birthday. Such a great idea!

The naming day was wonderfully informal and just a lovely way for friends and family to get together and celebrate this wonderful little girl, who also happened to turn one last week too!

Thank you for choosing me as your celebrant Nicole & Jake. It was a pleasure meeting your little family x

💚Nick & Steph💚

Nick & Steph ‘swiped right’ for each other back in February 2020, just before we all headed into months of lockdowns! Their love survived Covid and the two soon became inseparable. A romantic proposal in Berlin lead us to their wonderful wedding yesterday…

We celebrated Nick and Steph’s wedding at the fabulous The rain showers cleared just in time for their wonderful outdoor ceremony and it was fabulous!

Nick and Steph really made their ceremony their own; Steph had her bridesmaids and brideman joining her down the aisle (loved this!), she arrived to the most gorgeous version of ‘Simply the Best’ by Tina Turner.

There were two fabulous readings read by close family members, personalised vows written by Steph and Nick, and lots of humour woven into their ceremony script. It really was perfect.

A special mention has to go to Clare at Hilltop Country House who is one of the warmest and most welcoming venue hosts ever. Hilltop is a family run venue and it’s clear to see that they put their heart and soul into creating amazing weddings. It’s easy to see why Nick and Steph chose this beautiful venue. 💚

It was also great to meet and I can’t wait to see the official pics of this gorgeous day!

Thank you for choosing me as your celebrant and it’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you both and I wish you every happiness for your future together x

⚡️WALKING DOWN THE AISLE⚡️

Who should walk you down the aisle? There is no right answer to this. It really is totally up to you!

I’ve seen a wide variety of walks down the aisle; everything from siblings, friends, step parents, children, and dogs! Lots of couples stick to tradition and have their dad walk them down, but that still doesn’t mean we have to do a traditional ‘giving away’. As with all the details of your ceremony, it can be completely tailored to you.

I’ve also worked with couples who have decided to skip the whole thing and just be there, together, at the end of the aisle, ready to begin the best ceremony of their lives!

The rules are, there are no rules! ⚡️

♥️Gayle & Ste♥️

Gayle & Ste met six years ago in a bar in Formby and hit it off right away. They share a love of travel, Gogglebox (who doesn’t?!) and their kids. They also adore their Rottweiler, Dougie!

They will be saying their ‘I dos’ in September at the iconic Royal Liver Buildings. This is the perfect spot for them as they celebrated their engagement with drinks overlooking that very building a few years ago.

I met with Gayle and Ste yesterday and they are typical Liverpudlians; warm, friendly and full of good humour. I can’t wait to be a part of their day in September!

✨MEGAN & JOSH ✨

Megan and Josh’s ceremony at the fabulous back in April was filled with happy tears (mainly from Josh!)

These two were surrounded by their tribe of groomsmen and bridesmaids and you could tell how much they meant to all their friends. It was lovely to see.

I love seeing what my couples get up to once the wedding is over and Megan and Josh have absolutely been living their best lives; a honeymoon in Italy, Glasto, and Wimbledon in the last few months. I’m slightly jealous!

What a great day it was ✨

🧡Hannah & Jack🧡

Yesterday was just absolutely gorgeous! I spent the morning weather watching, hoping that the outdoor ceremony Jack and Hannah wanted would be possible. In the end it wasn’t to be, but by the time the ceremony was over the sun had appeared and everyone was out enjoying fizz by the lake!

Jack and Hannah’s day was a real family affair. There were 21(!) kids at the wedding, which is a record for me so far, but they all behaved so well throughout the ceremony (with the help of lots of snacks!)

Jack and Hannah’s ceremony was full of tales from the 13 years they have shared together, and there were readings from family members. Their little boy Sam listened intently on the front row, as his mum and dad exchanged their personal vows.

There was just a real ‘feel good factor’ to Jack and Hannah’s day and The Roman Lakes is such a quirky venue in stunning surroundings. There were lawn games laid on for the children, a photo booth with props, an amazing kids snack table, and pictures of Hannah and Jack over the years dotted around. Just lovely!

It was also great to meet Barry from who captured the day. I can’t wait to see more pictures of this joyful wedding.

✨VALUE✨

I had a couple this week cancel our initial Zoom chat as they had found ‘a cheaper celebrant’. I get it. Everyone has their own budget when they are planning a wedding, and there’s not an endless pot of money to dip into. It still got to me though.

I was upset that I hadn’t had the chance to speak to them, because choosing your celebrant is about more than just cost. You need someone you click with, who you feel ‘gets’ you. (I may not have been their cup of tea anyway, and that’s totally fine!)

It got me thinking about my value and what I add to your wedding day. Hand on heart, I believe I am worth what my couples pay for me. I genuinely put 100% into all my ceremonies.

Whilst I know that money is tight, and things cost more across the board when it comes to weddings (and life in general!). It’s definitely worth looking at what you get for your money when you book your wedding suppliers. You generally get what you pay for.

I’m here throughout your planning process to help, advise, recommend other great suppliers, and most importantly, ensure that you have the ceremony you have dreamt of.

I’m really transparent about my fees (you can find them on my website), and I’m always happy to talk about payment options with you. Feel free to contact me to chat about this, or anything else to do with your ceremony, further ✨

⭐️FAMILY⭐️

I’ve spent a lovely week down in Norfolk with my family (we’re on the looong journey home, so I’ve got a bit of time to post!)

My plan was to crack on with my September wedding scripts while we were away, but in all honesty I haven’t even opened my laptop, apart from answering the odd enquiry.

Juggling a young family and a business is sometimes a lot. I absolutely love being a celebrant (like so, so much!) but I also love being a wife and mum, and sometimes you just need to close your laptop and focus on that for a week. Besides, it’s virtually impossible to find a quiet time to work on holiday with kids around!

Family is at the heart of everything I do as a celebrant. Whether it’s a wedding, or a naming day, being there with you and all your family, and being a central part of your special day, is such a privilege.

I’m looking forward to throwing myself back into script writing next week…we just need to get home first!

Quite often when I speak to couples initially they are worried about what certain relatives might think about them having a celebrant. It’s still seen as a break from the ‘norm’ by a lot of people.

My answer is always the same, it’s totally your choice how you want to get married! However, I do also make it clear that quite often these relatives don’t even notice that I’m a celebrant as they just enjoy the ceremony so much!

More often than not it’s those people (parents, grandparents, great aunties etc) that come up to me after the ceremony and thank me for a lovely ceremony. So, don’t waste time worrying about it! Do exactly what you want to do on YOUR wedding day. ✨

🩷Di & Neil🩷

Di and Neil met five years ago after ‘super-liking’ each other on Tinder. They bonded over their love of Manchester indie music and Man City, and yesterday they had a proper Manchester wedding at the iconic Lowry Theatre on Salford Quays.

Di walked down the aisle to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and they walked back down the aisle together to The Smiths; totally perfect!

There were readings of Pam Ayre’s ‘Yes, I’ll Marry You, My Dear’ and John Cooper Clarke’s ‘I Wanna be Yours’, two of my absolute favourite, lighthearted wedding readings.

Di and Neil wrote their own vows and they reflected their sense of humour perfectly.

It was a ceremony full of fun and I am guessing the party continued into the evening!

Thank you for choosing me as your celebrant Di and Neil. It was great getting to know you both and being a part of your day 💕

✨’Far from the Madding Crowd’✨is one of my all-time favourite books. I’m so pleased that one of my July couples have picked this reading for their wedding day!

One of my favourite parts of creating your unique ceremony is helping to select readings that reflect you as a couple. I must say, I had no hand in picking this one, I’m just glad that I’m going to hear it on a beautiful wedding day very soon!

What would you choose as a reading on your wedding day?

🩵Jess & Luke🩵

Yesterday was the most perfect day for Jess and Luke as they said their ‘I dos’ at Pentrehobyn Hall.

Jess currently holds the title for filling out my couples questionnaire with the most detail ever, which made writing this ceremony a total dream. There were tears and laughter throughout and lots of funny anecdotes and stories woven into the ceremony.

Jess and Luke also wrote their own personal vows to each other and they did such a fantastic job of these. It really was beautiful to witness.

There was a lovely moment just before Jess made her entrance when the room fell quiet and this song was playing. There was a little sing-song amongst their family and friends. It was really cute!

Jess and Luke were one of the smiliest couples I’ve ever married too, they really were beaming. Such a joyful day!

Thank you Jess and Luke for being thoroughly lovely and choosing me as your celebrant. (Swipe for an action shot of the veil. It was a little bit windy!)

Such an ace afternoon at chatting with couples who have either booked this great venue for their big day, or were just starting out on their wedding planning journey.

It’s always a pleasure to talk about all things Celebrancy and to let couples know that their ceremony can be anything they want it to be. You don’t have to have a registrar!

For those couples who left their details with me, I’ll be in touch this week. For those of you who took my details, I’m here if you want to chat further.

For now, I’m going to put on my PJs and pour myself a large G&T. It’s been a busy weekend! Cheers!🍸

🩷Alex & Olivia🩷

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Dodding!

Alex and Olivia met as teenagers and yesterday their love for each other was so heartwarming to see. They were surrounded by LOADS of family and friends (who were dressed very stylishly!) at Olivia’s family home and had done an amazing job of turning it into the dream wedding venue!

Guests were entertained with and the sun shone as Olivia arrived by horse drawn carriage!

Their cute pup Owain (they are big Gavin & Stacey fans 😂) was an impeccably behaved ringbearer, and there was even a flyover with a message to congratulate the happy couple later in the day!

It was great to meet who I’m sure has captured the day perfectly, alongside

Thank you for choosing me as your celebrant Alex and Olivia. It was such a pleasure working with you both 💕
