Just a little sneak peek…
The first photos from last night’s TEDxUniversityofStaffordshire have landed – and we couldn’t wait to share a few highlights. It was our third event, and without doubt our most powerful yet.

Huge thanks to our phenomenal speakers:
Levison Wood, Commander Nathan Gray, Jonah (Mark) Jones, Carol Shanahan OBE, Emily Johnson, Ben Cardall, Dr Emma Fallows, and Daniel Haynes – each one brought something truly special to the stage.

TEDx speaker announcement! Dr. Emma Fallows, Games Art Lecturer at University of Staffordshire will speak at TEDx University of Staffordshire this May.

Games Artist. VR Researcher. Women in Games Ambassador.

With a PhD in Games and Visual Effects, Dr. Fallows’ research explores Virtual Reality and Haptics, pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling. She has developed interactive museum experiences that bring ceramic displays to life, blending technology, art, and history in innovative ways. As a Women in Games Ambassador, she’s also a passionate advocate for diversity in the gaming industry.

We’re excited to welcome Aida Cable, Chief Executive of Thrive at Five, to the TEDx University of Staffordshire stage!

Early Years Advocate. Change-Maker. Community Leader.

With a career dedicated to early childhood development, mental health, and community-driven change, Aida has led ground breaking initiatives shaping the future for young people. Before joining Thrive at Five, she spent nearly a decade at The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, leading early years and mental health programmes. A former lawyer, she is also a Trustee of The London Marathon Foundation and a member of the Invictus Endeavours Advisory Board.

At TEDx University of Staffordshire, Aida will share her insights on the power of early intervention and resilience in shaping future generations.

We’re excited to welcome Carol Shanahan OBE - entrepreneur, Port Vale FC Chair, and passionate community leader - to the TEDx University of Staffordshire stage!

Tech Pioneer. Football Leader. Community Champion.

Carol has broken barriers and built a legacy of leadership, innovation, and impact. From becoming the first female computer operator in a major IT company to co-founding a £25M tech business employing 360 staff, her career is nothing short of extraordinary. Now, as Chair of Port Vale FC, a trustee of Port Vale Foundation and EFL in the Community, Carol continues to champion positive change - earning an OBE in 2021 for her contributions to Stoke-on-Trent.

Her journey from tech to football and community transformation is one of resilience, leadership, and giving back.
