It's Saturday and the day that families went shopping for the following weeks food and other items needed for the house. So today's old photograph from around the Stroud Valleys is one of the main places they went. Now this should be easy for you to name the place and street, but enjoy the picture where you can make comments, but more importantly can you guess the year correctly.
Staying unsettled today with heavy showers and some locally torrential downpours and a risk of thunderstorms. Remaining windy, particularly at the coasts during the afternoon. Feeling cool for July. Maximum temperature 20 °C. Have a good day and keep an eye on the weather.

The Stroud IFS informed monthly Drop In is currently happening today at the Centre.
Ifs is exploding in popularity worldwide and Natasha is glad to bring it to Stroud, and we are so pleased to provide a space for her Drop In's at the CSA!
These Drop In's are open to all, diversity friendly, and for donations, which go to The Long Table. There’s an intro to IFS (Internal Family Systems), the topic - July’s topic is focusing on the body, Somatic IFS - a demo with a courageous volunteer, a meditation and then sharing in small groups.
Facilitated by Natasha Wilson Psychotherapy and Neurofeedback - a UKCP psychotherapist and L3 IFS therapist and IFIO couples therapist. Notes from the topic go up on Natasha's website for spiral learning: www.stroudtherapy.com "I love IFS and relish researching and disseminating what I’ve learnt in service to my community"
Please see Natasha's upcoming dates below :)

The Centre t is a Grade II listed building, originally constructed in 1890.
Original designs for what was at first a children’s school were by J.P. Seddon, but were completed by local architect William Henry Cox Fisher.
Fisher’s friend William Cowle, a local developer and public health advocate, had long wanted the town to have a Science Institute. On his death in December 1899 he left a bequest for its founding. Fisher, as executor, arranged for £2,000 to be used to complete the Lansdown building.
It opened in 1909 as home to both the science museum and Stroud’s School of Art. The busts you see on the outside depict Victorian scientists Michael Faraday, Thomas Henry Huxley and Lord Kelvin, architect Charles Barry, poet and artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and painters Lord Leighton and JMW Turner.
From 1930 to 2001 the building housed the Stroud Museum, which is now in Stratford Park.
