A few close ups of the prettiest pink place settings… and let’s hear it for the table cloth!

I have a real thing for beautiful, detailed tablecloths. They add so much depth and charachter to a tablescape and I think they’ve been underated for FAR too long and it’s FINALLY their time to shine!

Who’s here for the beautiful patterened tablecloths?!

It can be difficult to know exactly how many people you can realistically expect to make it to your wedding.

As a general rule of thumb, you can anticipate around 10 - 20% of your guests will decline. However, this can really depend on certain factors. How many of these guests are local, travelling from out of town, or even live abroad?

It’s likely that a lot less will attend if they’re from another country, or much further afield, especially if they’re elderly.

When it comes to a venue’s maximum limit, never exceed this initially, even if you predict enough people will drop out. It’s much more awkward to have to uninvite people than it is to add more on later down the line. It’s unlikely, but always a possibility that all of your guests will accept the invite.

Make a backup list and only once you’ve recieved the “no’s” do you replace them with back up guests - not that anyone should feel like a backup, but we all know some people, such as family, have to take priority.

Leave plenty of time for RSVP’s to be returned and avoid the stress of last minute chasing.

My beautiful bride Priscilla absolutely blew me away on her wedding day. Not only did she look breathtaking, but happily stood out in the rain without an umberella or a coat to fully embrace the Chinese line dancing - what a woman!

I think it’s important to take things in your stride on your wedding day and not sweat the small stuff. Whether that’s the weather, or something not quite going to plan, don’t waste time dwelling on it. The hours will rush by so fast and you must enjoy every second!

Adopt a “f**k it” mentality for the day. It’s too precious to let slip through your fingers.

If your budget is tight, the easiest way to make savings is by cutting your guest list down.

You’re getting married to the love of your life and of course you want to scream it from the roof tops and share it with all the wonderful people in your life…

BUT you need to bare in mind that every person you invite comes with a price tag above their head! They will equate to a meal, more canapés, probably a glass of bubbly and table wine at the least, more staff, more tableware, more favours, maybe a portion of a free bar and they will contribute towards needing a bigger venue.

Make a priorities list starting with close family and friends. Work your way down to colleaugues and friends of parents, and then start cutting from the bottom if necessary.

You should also consider your plus one situation. If you can make a singles table full of pals you know will hit it off, then you could save a whole table’s-worth of plus ones!

Paying for all of your closest can be hard enough, don’t invite people just because you feel you should. It’s about quality, not quantity.

Invitations - the first glimpse your guests will get of what they could expect from your wedding day.

A smaller detail, sure, but a crucial one nonetheless! This little piece of card holds the information your friends and family have been waiting for… so why not give them a sneak peak at how beautiful your big day is going to be.

Finding the perfect stationer for you is one of the many details I will guide you through. Remember, no element of your wedding is unimportant…

It’s easy and understandable to fall into the trap of following trends and recreating ideas from past weddings, while missing that stamp of individuality.

Of course, find inspiration from other brides, wedding blogs and social media pages, but don’t forget to put your own personal spin on it.

For example, you could name each table at the wedding breakfast after your favourite films or cities you’ve visited together.

Perhaps you could incorperate something from your proposal or how you met into the day. Take the stories of your journey together and utilise them when creating your wedding design.

You can even inject your personalities into the food! Why not create a dessert station or grazing table full of all your favourite childhood treats?

You don’t need to be creative or choose the DIY route to make you wedding personal. I pride myself on avoiding cookie cutter weddings, so discuss your interests and history with your suppliers and/or wedding planner and we will make the magic happen for you!

07/05/2024

It doesn’t matter what time you plan your wedding for, we all know that the UK weather has a mind of it’s own.

If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, drinks reception, or a marquee wedding, you need to ensure you have a back plan or back up measures.

Speak with your venue and ask if they have an alternative in place already. Make sure there is enough space to fit your guests indoors if it rains or is too cold/windy.

Perhaps even considering hiring a bunch of clear umberellas for guests so they can keep dry when outdoors and not ruin the photos with massive branded golf brollies!

If, on the flip side, the weather decides to be extremely hot, there are a few things you should consider.

Is there shade outdoors? Does your venue have air conditioning? Can you provide fans if not?

Make sure there plenty of water to go round. Perhaps have a large water dispenser/kilner jar for guests to help themselves.

Oh… and don’t forget about the flowers and cake. Your florist and cake designer might need to discuss a few options with you to prepare for all possibilities.

In all honesty, having witnessed so many British weddings, I actually tend to prepare for wet weather, and have a dry weather contingency! It’s much safer.

It’s us again 🙋🏼‍♀️😂 The fiancé and I modelled for another wedding shoot last week. It’s so funny to be in wedding dresses before our own day, but I’m really hoping he is still surprised when he sees me at the end of the aisle! 🙈

I haven’t actually started the wedding dress shopping yet and as this isn’t actually a part I’m usually involved in, it’s so hard to know which bridal boutiques to choose! It made me think how overwhelming every aspect of the wedding must be for most brides.

Where do you even start when there are hundreds of wedding suppliers to choose from?!

I would say taking that pressure off of brides is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Having the knowledge and contacts to whittle it down to a handful of suitable options just makes the whole process so much simpler for my couples, and that fills me joy 🫶🏻

F R I E N D L Y R E M I N D E R…

It’s your wedding, not theirs. It is impossible to keep everyone happy, so try to focus on making yourselves happy first and foremost.

People will always have conflicting opinions and ideas, and sometimes they will try to force these upon you, but this day is primarily about you and your forever partner.

You want your personalities to shine through every fibre of your wedding day, but this doesn’t mean you can’t keep your guests in mind.

As a priority to ensure you’ve covered the most important points…

Don’t leave intervals without food too long, keep drinks topped up, and keep the music playing.

If you’ve ticked all of those boxes, there is really nothing for your guests to complain about. Your friends and family will love the day, because they love you!

My lovely Emma and Wes got married last December at Farnham Castle and what a magical winter wedding it was.

E & W are based in America and came to me to fully plan their wedding here in the UK. They wanted a quintessentially British day and what better venue than a castle!

When discussing design, it came to light that they both loved the colour light blue, but couldn’t visualise it during the winter months. I assured them we could make this work perfectly within the aesthetic, using the pale blue as an icey undertone.

Often couples struggle to pull their ideas together and that’s where I come in! Bringing your visions to life and taking stress out of the process, this is one of my favourite parts of the job.

Virtually anything is possible and you can expect a fully bespoke wedding when you work with me.

This day will forever sit fondly in my heart (light blue heart)

How To Save For Your Wedding

Though your budget is of course totally up to you to decide, it’s safe to say for most people, weddings cost a huge amount of money. The key is setting your budget to a figure you know you can afford, and not getting so carried away you end up with a bunch of final payment invoices a month before your wedding, that you can’t pay off. It’s important to stay realistic, so think about setting reachable goals to save for your wedding. So, are there any tips and tricks to do this? Well, I’m no finacial adviser, but I have learnt a thing or two from my couples along the way and now... it’s my turn! Let the saving commence...

A moment of deep joy as I completed styling the kind of tablescape I used to dream of 💭

I’m not sure I’ve ever talked about the fact I had no qualifications, or really experience, in events when I decided to set up a wedding planning business. Bold move, I know.

I just knew that I loved weddings, creativity, organisation, design, people and love. That was good enough for me.

From there it was the most joyous uphill struggle of my life. Thousands of hours worth of research, networking, planning, experimenting, growing, patience and persistence and I’ve still got many goals I’d like to achieve before calling myself “successful”.

But… moments like these are the best reminders of how far I’ve come and how proud I am of the journey.

I’m sure I have many wedding industry friends who came from different backgrounds - mine was entertainment. I’d love to know what my wedding ladies (and gents) did before weddings in the comments below ⬇️

04/04/2024

As a supplier myself, and I’m sure all suppliers would back me up here, I can vouch for the fact that… we need to eat too! For most of us, it will have been a really long day on our trotters. Some will have been on site from the early hours, around the time you were enjoying your breakfast.

It’s easily forgotten to factor in supplier meals when giving caterers your final numbers, but please my lovely couples, don’t make this mistake!

If your suppliers are tired and hungry, they won’t have the energy to perform their very best for you, which will make nobody happy. So let’s consider who needs to be included…

Your photographer(s) and videographer(s), if you have one, will likely be there for 10+ hours on the day. They will be following you around with their cameras from your “getting ready” shots to your first dance. A very well deserved meal I would say!

Your band might only have arrived half way through the afternoon to set up, but they will often travel from far and wide and will be there to entertain you throughout the night. Having performed in many wedding bands, I can tell you, it’s a wonderful job, but hard work. If anyone needs the energy, it’s these guys.

If you have a wedding planning/coordinating team, they will have been on site around the same length of time as the photographers, sometimes longer. The longest day I was on site at a wedding was 16 hours and the shortest, 11. It’s safe to say, I would struggle to get through the day without a substantial meal to tide me over.

Any other form of entertainment that will be there throughout the evening such as a DJ, photobooth operator or illustrator will likely need to be included.

I would say a general rule of thumb would be anyone on site for longer than 4 hours will need to be fed, but it is important to check every supplier contract. Most will specify needing a hot meal and some will also ask for a soft drinks tab.

There are going to be A LOT of things running through your head on the morning of your wedding - Has the caterer seen the last minute table plan change? Has the best man still got the rings? Did someone remember to collect Grandma?

It’s a neverending cycle of questions, so in order to fully enjoy yourself, you should think about a few things in preperation.

Prep and pack everything 2 days before. Ideally a week before, but get those last minute bits packed 48 hours prior to the morning of. Ensure you pack for every emergancy, including a steamer, sewing kit, plasters and cable ties.

Create a getting ready playlist full of your favourite tunes! Maybe start chilled and build up to some energetic, feel-good bangers. Ambience is everthing.

DON’T SKIP BREAKFAST! This one is cruicial (unless you never normally eat breakfast anyway, but I’d still recommend it.) It’s going to be a really long day both physically and mentally and you’re going to need all the energy you can get. Don’t forget to stay hydrated too!

Have a detailed timeline. If you have a wedding planner or coordinator, this will be done for you, but if not, ensure you have every step of the day planned out, including the morning. Always allow yourself more time than you need!

13/03/2024

I don’t think couples necessarily ever think that planning a wedding will be a breeze, but they often don’t have a clue just HOW MUCH time actually goes in to organising such a large scale event.

I’ve read a lot of articles on this topic and seen everything from 200 - 550 hours. The truth is, it really depends on the complexity of your wedding, but regardless, unless you have a wedding planner… it’s A LOT of time.

Things to think about include, how many suppliers do you need to book? If you have a very simple design, you might be able to find one or two decor companies that can supply everything you need! If you have bigger, more extravagent plans… get ready for a hefty amount of research.

How particular are you? Are you generally very easy going and open to all sorts of different venues and styles, or have you got more specific requirements and a clear vision?

Do you have lots of help on hand? If you have friends and family members with lots of time on their hands who you trust and are willing, this will assist in keeping time down.

How many guests are you inviting? Generally speaking, the more guests you have, the more logistics there are to think about. More people to seat, to feed, to transport, and often to accommodate.

Or, to avoid having to think about all of this… perhaps just hire a wedding planner? I know a girl - hehe.

Something newlywed couples will often comment on is how little time they actually spent with EACH OTHER on their wedding day.

There will likely be a large number of your friends and family present and you will feel obliged to split your time between all of them, but just remember that this day isn’t actually about them, it’s about the two of you.

Make sure you check in with your new hubby or wifey throughout the day. Make sure you chat to each other. Make sure you laugh and dance together. Make sure that when you look back on the day, they are the main presence in your memories.

04/03/2024

This can be a tricky and sometimes very sensitive one for couples. As much as we want our special day to be as smooth and seamless as possible, there are just some things we can’t control.

Perhaps certain family members don’t get on, or have very strong opinions on who should be invited. Whatever it is, how you navigate this is key in ensuring the least stress for yourself as possible.

As a wedding planner, my couples will often come to me for advice on these types of circumstances (my job is very multifaceted and I have to be ready to step up in even the trickiest of situations.)

I always advice first and foremost, that communication is key! Have an open and honest conversation and express your concerns. If they love you, they will want to make your day as easy and enjoyable as possible.

If you have family members contributing financially to your wedding, it’s important to discuss expectations beforehand. Does it come with strings attached? If so, is it really worth you accepting at all?

It probably goes without saying that when it comes to the seating plan, you definitely want to be tactical with where you position certain guests. Do your very best to ensure noone is sat on the same table as someone they might have ill feelings towards.

If a friend or family member is trying to dictate who you invite, you might have to give them a gentle ultimatum. Let them know you’ll understand if they choose not to attend due to feeling uncomfortable around another guest, but the decision is theirs.

To avoid too much meddling in your plans, ensure your more “difficult” family members feel involved by deligating certain smaller tasks to them. This should keep them off your back and will also be quite helpful.

Here’s me - with my little bumbag and clipboard in hand ready to greet my lovely bride and take her to the aisle.

SWIPE LEFT… Here’s me - much later in the day, topping up my bride’s lippy (could probably do with a hairbrush myself but let’s ignore that.)

As your wedding planner, expect me to be there when you need me the most. I’m always ready and willing to get stuck in, ensure you’re feeling your very best throughout the day and solve any issues before you even knew they exsisted!

Whether I’m fully planning or just coordinating, I’ll be your wedding day fairy, ready with my magic wand and emergancy kit.

We live in the US and got married in the UK so we early on decided we needed a wedding planner to help us plan a wedding across the pond!
