This weekend marks the beginning of National Storytelling Week and we've got some very exciting VIP's visiting our libraries to celebrate!

Join three wonderful authors and storytellers Hannah Graham Story Teller, Holly Sterling and The Magical World of Mushroom Marvellous!

At each of these sessions you can enjoy the magic of storytelling and learn all about how stories are made, either through words or images.

We're thrilled to be at Houghton Library and Washington Library throughout February, running painting sessions as part of pre-opening programme of events which are taking place across the city before the fantastic new Culture House opens this autumn.

Come and have a go at building and painting a playing piece- all ages and abilities are welcome. There is no entry or participation fee for this event, which is hosted by our centre manager Chris, who is also a professional artist working in the city.

It would be great to see you there. Please share this post- we know how beneficial painting can be for relaxation and good mental health, and these sessions are a great opportunity to meet new people, have some fun and pick up new skills.

The activity is part of Culture House Sunderland’s pre-opening programme, working with communities across Sunderland and beyond in the run up to the venue’s opening in autumn 2025.
This project is funded by the UK Government as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Exciting times! As you may or may not have heard, I have partnered up with the Culture House to deliver an exciting future fashion project in the new year. Sessions will run in Houghton Library on Mondays after school and at my studio on Wednesdays after school. We will be using smart materials and electronics to create unique designs recycling garments! I literally cannot wait to get started. It’s a 6 week fully funded course and they gain an arts award too. Spaces are very limited so if you know of a young artist designer aged 10-16 email me and I will send over an application 😍 email me at [email protected]
