✨ WINNER - Dad Of The Year ✨
A truly dedicated family man, has accepted this evening's award to continue doing what he’s always done – to give his son a voice.
Aged 11, our winner’s son became very unwell. Having been diagnosed with severe ME the family dynamic changed almost overnight as this close-knit unit came to terms with these new complex daily needs, including round the clock care. The effect on the family as a whole was of course considerable.
With very limited services available in West Wales for those with ME, our winner has dedicated the last 20 years to fight the cause for more research, treatments and support services in Hywell Dda health board. He’s campaigned and raised funds along the way too.
Now in his thirties, our winner's son is mostly bedbound, but this Dad will never give up, even working towards a PHD in ME diagnosis. All of this, to continue to ensure he gives his son a voice.
✨ WINNER - Mum Of The Year✨
At age 8, our winner's son was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour, which was so serious that the family were rushed under blue lights the same day as diagnoses to London, where our winner's son underwent emergency and lengthy surgery.
There were very many dark days, where our winner held her son and reassured him that all will be OK. At 17 years old, the tumour returned, and our winner continued to be a pillar of support, and many further illnesses followed including sepsis and pneumonia.
Despite this, the winner was there every single moment of every day for her son, even encouraging him to complete 2 university degrees.
The winner's son told us: “Unfortunately, I have recently been informed that my tumour has returned. However, I’m sure with my saint of a mother by my side I will get through this.
Without her I wouldn’t have got through the many times my life was at risk. I know she will give me the strength I need to get through this.” .radio

On a cold March evening at Llanelli Beach, our 15 year old outstanding bravery winners were spending time near the coast with their friends, when they saw a woman, fully clothed, entering the sea.
In sub zero temperatures it became apparent that this lady had reached a point of crisis and was planning to take her own life.
However, These winners stepped in, ignoring the risk to their own lives to help save another’s.

Few would argue that carers in our society are real life super heroes, stepping in to take care of loved ones without a moment of pause. And our winner is no exception.
Every day this winner cares for his wonderful wife, who every week has to attend gruelling chemotherapy, which leaves her feeling exhausted and unable to complete daily tasks.
The winner not only cares for his amazing wife, but is also an incredibly proud Dad to his 2 daughters, ensuring life goes on as normal as much as possible for his family that he cherishes. All this while being a full-time nurse.

Courage is a word often over used, but the winner embodies it.
The winner was born with a very rare syndrome called Escobar syndrome. Despite being just 5 years old, our winner has had to contend with many challenges, and just last year had to undergo complicated surgery which left her legs in casts for more than 3 months.
Despite walking with a frame, our winner was determined to raise money for her favourite thing in the world – animals!
Just out of her casts, our winner walked her longest ever distance, and raised a huge £2,000 for Hope rescue centre, for her beloved animals.

At 17 years old, the tumour returned, and our winner continued to be a pillar of support, and many further illnesses followed including sepsis and pneumonia. Despite this, the winner was there every single moment of every day for her son, even encouraging him to complete 2 university degrees. The winner's son told us: “Unfortunately, I have recently been informed that my tumour has returned. However, I’m sure with my saint of a mother by my side I will get through this. Without her I wouldn’t have got through the many times my life was at risk. I know she will give me the strength I need to get through this.” @nation.radio
✨ WINNERS - Outstanding Bravery✨ #PrideOfWales24 On a cold March evening at Llanelli Beach, our 15 year old outstanding bravery winners were spending time near the coast with their friends, when they saw a woman, fully clothed, entering the sea. In sub zero temperatures it became apparent that this lady had reached a point of crisis and was planning to take her own life. However, These winners stepped in, ignoring the risk to their own lives to help save another’s. @nation.radio
✨ WINNER - Carer of the year ✨ #PrideOfWales24 Few would argue that carers in our society are real life super heroes, stepping in to take care of loved ones without a moment of pause. And our winner is no exception. Every day this winner cares for his wonderful wife, who every week has to attend gruelling chemotherapy, which leaves her feeling exhausted and unable to complete daily tasks. The winner not only cares for his amazing wife, but is also an incredibly proud Dad to his 2 daughters, ensuring life goes on as normal as much as possible for his family that he cherishes. ✨ WINNER - Child Of Courage✨ #PrideOfWales24 Courage is a word often over used, but the winner embodies it. The winner was born with a very rare syndrome called Escobar syndrome. Despite being just 5 years old, our winner has had to contend with many challenges, and just last year had to undergo complicated surgery which left her legs in casts for more than 3 months. Despite walking with a frame, our winner was determined to raise money for her favourite thing in the world – animals! Just out of her casts, our winner walked her longest ever distance, and raised a huge £2,000 for Hope rescue centre, for her beloved animals. Nation Radio Wales
