Growing up in the country suburbs near the city of Bath, I had great ambition and creativity. I loved working with fabrics and found that I had a flare for Costume Making. In 2012, I completed my degree at University in Costume Production with a First Class Honours. This is where I began my journey into the Costume and Fashion Industry. My skills are extremely varied from standard Garment Alterati

ons through to Couture Bridal Alterations and Creative Interiors. I take pride in the work that I do and enjoy every aspect. ✨ Real Bride ✨

I’m starting this year off by sharing photos of one of my most special brides I’ve ever looked after, the beautiful Emilja.

Our journey together started off in 2018, when we met at her first appointment on a very exciting Suzanne Neville designer day at Carina B Couture. She chose the stunning Rosa gown for her 2020 wedding. Forward those two years and we sadly went through the pandemic which meant Emilja’s wedding couldn’t go ahead… she waited another two years before her big day came around.

Emilja had the full made to measure with toile service so we had many appointments together, which was even more of a compliment as she drove 4 hours each way to come and have her fittings with me! We made a couple of changes to the original design along the way and added these fabulous chiffon sleeves which I just ADORE 💕

We built up a wonderful bond over the 4 years together; I was absolutely honoured to have looked after her and was able to be there from her very initial styling appointment right through to the final fitting and collection; it felt quite emotional saying goodbye for the last time!

Some brides and their journeys stay with you for a long time, and this is certainly one of them.

✨ Fittings in Action ✨

I just had to share these very candid photos that my gorgeous bride Gillian took while I was fitting her beautiful mum’s bespoke, made to measure outfit.

It’s very rare that I see photos of myself in action, but I enjoyed receiving these. I like my fittings to feel relaxed in a very warm and friendly environment; I think Gillian managed to capture my moments of concentration but also genuine laughter.

Garment fitting is always my main focus during an appointment but I also really enjoy getting to know my clients and striking up conversations.

Being a fitter and seamstress is a very privileged position to be in which I am always so grateful to be successful at… I can’t imagine doing anything else!

✨ Memory Bear ✨

As a family, we have recently experienced a sudden bereavement of my beloved Granny so it seems poignant today to be sharing photos of this gorgeous little memory bear which was made after I gifted a voucher to a charity auction to help raise funds for and The Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal.

I loved the idea of creating this one using a daughter’s Primary and Secondary school clothes; having it made as a celebration bear as she graduated from her school years and moves onto the next chapter in her education.

With just a few different fabrics and colours to work with, I enjoyed the challenge of placement when styling this one and loved the gorgeous little bow details on one of the trouser waistbands that I knew I just had to incorporate them somehow.

Creating these bears has become such a joy for me. Each new bear I work with has its own story to tell and being able to capture that story in a physical form which can be treasured for a lifetime, will always feel so special.

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s important to remember that gifting is not just the opening of presents, we can give the gift of time or money (however big or small the donation) to countless charities.

✨ Real Bride ✨

This lovely collection of photos are of my beautiful bride Laura, on her wedding day this summer!

She chose the elegant ‘Isobel’ dress by Suzanne Neville with its beautifully delicate floral lace bodice and dreamy organza skirt.

I had to make various alterations to the bodice so it felt like a ‘second skin’ on the day and I also adapted the lace details on the back to be slightly fuller and further over to give a more flattering scattering of the floral adornment. One of my favourite parts of altering wedding dresses is the hemming and this dress is very satisfying to work on… once all the layers have been shortened, the organza has a beautiful soft bounce and moves so gracefully.

Receiving a lovely message of thanks after the wedding is always very heartwarming;

‘I would just like to say a massive thank you to all of you for all your help with my dress, thanks especially to Louise for her wonderful work with my fittings! I had so many compliments about the dress and felt amazing, I cannot thank you enough.’

✨ A floral thank you ✨

Today I received this beautiful bunch of flowers as a thank you from my wonderful client Hannah.

Her dress needed a shoulder lift and sleeve re-set, which for me, is quite a standard alteration but Hannah was very thankful that I could fit her in and get her ready in time to attend a wedding.

I feel very touched 💐

✨Standard Garment Alterations ✨

I had the delight of looking after this wonderful couple, to get both of their outfits tailored ready for their son’s wedding.

Jackie found this wonderful dress on JJ’s house but she wanted the neckline to be more open which meant cutting and re-setting the grown on collar to sit wider on the shoulder. The only way to achieve this was to mark in our new seam (where there wasn’t one before) and cut the collar away, re-attaching in the new position. With the wider line, that also meant potentially adding in a panel to extend the collar length but because we had to lift the shoulders and reset the sleeves, this wasn’t necessary. I also slimmed down the sleeves and lifted the waistline to get a much more flattering silhouette on Jackie.

Elliot had two 3-piece suits that also needed a significant amount of attention. With quite a bit of taking in, shoulder lifts, shoulder width reduction and sleeve re-sets as well as some trouser hemming, both suits had quite the re-work.

It’s lovely to be able to see photos from the day knowing that I was able to make my clients look and feel as fabulous as they did for such an important event.

✨ Appreciation Post and Recommendation ✨

This wonderful woman is the fabulous owner and face behind the incredible who hosted a spectacular 1920’s themed party which I was honoured to go along to.

I am so lucky to be able to call this woman a friend as well as an industry colleague.

✨ Memory Bears ✨

“Brother and Sister… is there anything sweeter? 💕”

I have an incredibly special pair of memory bears to show off today for a previous bride of mine who recently celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary. I can still remember our fittings together vividly from all those years ago and it has felt so heartwarming and rewarding to have been able to create these two adorable bears for her children.

Jemma wore the same maternity dress during both her pregnancies so as an extra special touch, she asked that it was incorporated into each bear. Both children also wore a couple of the same babygrows so each of these were also styled into the bears with their names beautifully hand embroidered onto each foot.

I take great care and attention to detail when styling each bear that I make; it is so important to try and get the balance of colours/patterns and embroidery details but within the limitations of the pattern pieces themselves.

That moment when I place the finished piece in front of me is always magical 💫

✨ Real Bride ✨

My midweek memory is a throwback to one of my gorgeous brides who got married in the summer of 2021 in the most beautiful Sassi Holford gown called Veronica. The skirt fabric is one of the most impressive designs I’ve had the pleasure of working with and the delicate silk on the bodice emulates the sheen of the pattern on the skirt; truly exquisite.

I adored working with Roisin and pinning her dress in all the right places to allow it to skim over her waist and lie seamlessly against her bustline. As with almost all of the wedding dresses that I work on, each layer of the hem was meticulously pinned and shortened too so it just ‘kisses’ the floor.

When a wedding dress is fitted properly, the bride can be her most confident on the day and that’s exactly what Roisin exudes! 💕

You’ve found your dress, now you need to book in with a seamstress; so why choose me?

I have been working in the bridal industry as a fitter and seamstress for over 12 years at one of the highest levels, working on demi-couture wedding gowns. The skills and knowledge that I have gained is extensive - there hasn’t been a request yet that I haven’t been able to fulfil.

I am also a fully trained pattern cutter and maker (First Class Honours Degree) which is a huge bonus when altering wedding gowns. This means that I have an even deeper knowledge of garment construction which allows me to take on even the most complex of Bridal Alterations requests including a recent ‘4 sizes smaller’ re-cut and re-make.

I don’t just look after the bride either! I can look after your whole wedding party from bridesmaids, to flower girls, grooms to groomsmen and the all important Mother’s and Father’s of the bride and groom.

✨ Real Bride ✨

An incredible throwback to one of the most beautiful weddings of Summer 2023! Our wonderful bride Kirsty was a florist herself so it was only right, that she designed and created her own floral masterpieces. And my goodness, doesn’t it look STUNNING 😍

It was the beauty within her job, that also made an impact upon the choice of her dress. She fell in love with the soft floral organza fabric on this wonderful design, which when I met Kirsty for her first dress fitting, just felt completely right. It couldn’t have been more perfect.

I had to make quite a few various alterations to the dress to sculpt her figure including taking in, strap adjustments, hem length and bustling. I love how much fun Kirsty had on her wedding day; the joy from her smile is clear to see.

✨ Memory Bear ✨

An extra special bear styled and created for a birthday surprise from a husband to his wife 💙

I loved the final detail of the bow tie; part of a beautifully sentimental outfit that baby ‘Z’ wore for their very first Mother’s Day earlier this year.

There is so much joy in making these wonderful bears; I adore the whole process but especially the styling part. Laying out all the different garments and singling out any specific parts of a design for that added, extra special touch gets the creative juices flowing. Because of the size of the pattern pieces, I wasn’t able to use a garment with the ‘lettered appliqué’ in one panel without chopping half of it away, so I didn’t let that stop me. Instead, I individually cut out and appliquéd each letter onto the front bodice of the bear once I had stitched the panels together.

Oh and not to forget… the gold hand embroidered lettering on the foot 🪡

A few weeks ago, I shared some sneak peak photos of my bride, Charlotte wearing the gorgeous ’Langham’ dress by , a particular favourite of mine from her collection.

The photos of Charlotte are absolutely beautiful! She exudes pure happiness and confidence, just as a bride should 💕

I know I say it often but fitting and altering wedding dresses is such a privilege. From the very initial appointment to the final collection appointment, the journey with every bride is special. I loved being able to look after Charlotte and tailor the dress to feel like a second skin on the day.

✨ Made to Measure Flower Girl ✨

It all starts with a sketch…

Whilst on maternity leave, I was absolutely delighted to be asked if I could make a bespoke flower girl dress for my very special bride Gillian, so that we could best match the bridal gown fabrics and create a bespoke oversized bow to match the shape and style of Gillian’s hair bow. It was the first project I was coming back to and what a way to start my year 💕

I adored creating this dress, it was such a joy to make. Due to timings and availability, we only had the one dress fitting with Gigi, but amazingly, the fit was so good, it only needed a few minor tweaks! This was a blessing in disguise as our gorgeous Gigi understandably did not want to stay still during her fitting, which I took as a huge compliment as she was loving looking at herself in the mirror and swishing around.

I felt so honoured to have been able to look after 3 generations and be a big part of creating these very special looks 🥹

✨ Bespoke Mother of the Bride ✨

I had the honour of looking after this wonderful Mother of the Bride at , designing and making something bespoke and individual for her daughter’s very special wedding day this summer.

Ruth had a vision of a classic, elegant dress and jacket ensemble but to be constructed with as lightweight fabrics as possible to wear for the time of year. We chose a beautiful handwoven Orissa silk in a soft spring green with accents of cream handmade binding adorning the jacket from . I made the dress with stunning detachable short petal sleeves and to finish the evening look, I created a delicate lace shrug in an even more beautiful beaded lace from .

Creating unique garments to a client’s brief is so rewarding. I adored adding the fine details and being able to give Ruth three different looks for each part of the day.

Ruth will be able to get much more wear out of all three items either as a complete ensemble again or even more excitingly, wearing them individually. A well made investment into her wardrobe ❤️
