OK, so using the term "same-sex" isn't wrong but should be used only when you know the gender of the couple and are talking about that specific couple. Some couples however do not like this term and would perceive it as being wrong for them. Gender and sex are two different things and so the term “same-sex” can be misleading.
If you're talking in general terms, ie about all couples that aren't cis-het, then use the term "LGBTQ+" instead.
Using the term "same-sex" assumes people's gender and that they are the same, when in fact a couple who you perceive as same-sex, one may be non-binary.
The same can apply for couples you may perceive as being a heterosexual couple. They could be non binary, bisexual, pansexual or trans and still be an LGBTQ+ couple.
So in short, using the broader term "LGBTQ+ couple or wedding" shows you are not making assumptions and appreciate that love comes in all forms!
