Soppy post alert! I don’t do this often, so when I do, you know it’s special and I felt this time it deserved a place on the grid…

15 years ago today, I married Chris, aka Mr T&B. In those 15 years we have faced the highs and lows together and there is no one I would have rather had there to hold my hand than him.

There would also be no Teazle and Bear without him either… He has consistently supported me in following my dream, from helping condition flowers, to looking after the kids solo whilst I work away, to lugging buckets and listening to me talk his ear off about all things floral - he’s been incredible.

To balance things out I’ve never known anyone take longer to choose from a menu, to still put the cheese grater back in the wrong place after almost 20 years or to be able to strike fear into my heart with the sentence ‘I’ve been thinking….’ but that’s love right?!

Thank you for everything Chris , and here’s to the next 15 and more… 💗

D is for… dahlias!

Dahlia season is here again and I just LOVE them! With a huge range of shapes, sizes and colours there is something for everyone!

Did you know…

- Dahlias belong to the aster family along with daisies and sunflowers
- In the Victorian era, dahlias were a symbol of commitment and an everlasting union.
- There are no blue dahlias. Supposedly, in the nineteenth century, a London newspaper offered £1 to the first breeder to create a blue dahlia - it seems the reward has never been claimed!
- The dahlia was declared the national flower of Mexico in 1963

Do you love a dahlia? Let me know in the comments!

Alaska and Joe 🤍

It was such a pleasure to create the florals for Alaska and Joe’s wedding in May, including floral collars for their four legged friends, Evie and Koda!

The entertainment of the morning was Evie playing escape artist and leading me on a chase through the gardens of , but thankfully we got her safely back in time for her to perform her duties!

Colourful chaos was the theme for H&O back in April! 🌸

It was such a pleasure to create bright and beautiful florals for this lovely couple. With St Mary Redcliffe Church as a stunning venue for their ceremony, and the couple’s friends forming the choir performing breathtaking music it really was quite the day!

Thank you for choosing me to be your florist!

P.S - can we just take a minute for the veil which was hand embroidered by the bride herself!! 🤩

Dogs at weddings? Yes please! I’m all for your four legged family members taking part in your big day 🐾 And why shouldn’t they get in on the flower action too?!

I’ve got some floral canine couture to make for a wedding in May and I’m really looking forward to it!

What do you think? Have you got a furry friend you would have at your wedding? I would love to hear about them in the comments!

P.S. Raven would like you to know that she was suitably compensated for her time with treats and snuggles 🐕‍🦺💗

A is for… Anemone

These beauties are looking fabulous right about now, and are amazing in bridal bouquets.

Did you know…

- Anemones come from the same family as ranunculus
- They have also been called ‘windflowers’
- Their peak season is March to May, so a perfect flower for those Spring weddings

Are you a fan of anemones? Let me know in the comments ⬇️

It was such a pleasure to create Micki and Sam’s florals at the weekend. Filled with stunning roses and a gorgeous mix of flowers in different textures, the bold red and burgundy really packed a punch and the floaty greenery just rounded off the bridal bouquet perfectly! ♥️🌹

It looks like you had a fabulous day and I wish you both every happiness going forward 😊🌸

With thanks to for the lovely photos 📸♥️

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…

Wreaths are back! After a wonderfully successful year last year, my collection of beautiful wreaths for 2023 will be based on the same styles as last year.

Whilst each wreath will be unique, it will be created based on the theme you purchase, and filled with beautiful goodies accordingly! So, the themes are…

Merry and Bright - this wreath will be a contemporary mix of bright colours and lush foliage. Perfect if you fancy something a little different for this festive period!

Deck the Halls - backed with gorgeous greenery and then filled with natural treasures such as teasels, seed heads, bracken and dried flowers, Deck the Halls ticks all the boxes if you’re after a more rustic feel.

The Holly and the Ivy - for those who love a traditional wreath this one is for you! Pine cones, orange slices and cinnamon sticks are all likely to feature in this take on a classic festive wreath.

Starting at £45 for a standard size, ranging up to £80+ for a large size, please do get in touch if you would like to decorate your door!

Can I tell you a story?

Once upon a time, this buttonhole took over six months to make! Yep, you read that right, six months!

When the lovely Shannon asked for heather in her groom’s buttonhole as a special nod to his Scottish heritage I said I would do my best but, I was a bit concerned that seasonally I wouldn’t be able to source a quality of heather I was happy with.

So, I did some research and bought beautiful heather plants six months before the wedding. From there, I snipped the stems off, dried them carefully in a shoe box, stored them ready for the big day and ta dah! The six month buttonhole was born, Shannon was thrilled and they all lived happily ever after! 🥰🥳

Whilst as a florist I won’t promise you a specific variety of flower as seasons and quality may not make it feasible, I will certainly always do my best. Even if it takes me six months… 😂

Pink to make….

Everyone say ‘WOW!’ I’m a firm believer that you’ll never regret embracing a bright and bold colour theme for your wedding florals.

One of my couples next year came to me with the brief of ‘colourful chaos’ and I can’t wait for it!

So be brave, dive in, embrace the colour and go for it! 🌈🌸🪻🌼

It’s that time of year again! Dahlia season is in full swing, and whilst my patch of these beauties is a little slow to get going, I can’t complain that these two were the first to arrive! They are a new variety for me named Gypsy Night and their deep red/burgundy colouring is just so rich and deep and delicious!

Coming in all sorts of colours, shapes and sizes, dahlias make a stunning addition to wedding florals. Are you a fan? 🌸🌺💐

What scent did you wear on your big day? This was an excellent choice by the fabulous Shannon whose flowers I had the pleasure of creating back in February 🌸🥰

Now, I’m not really a perfume aficionado so please do comment below with what you chose (or would choose) for your wedding and let's indulge together! ✨ Don't forget to tag any bride-to-be who needs to find her perfect wedding fragrance! 💕

We all know I LOVE colour and it was an absolute pleasure to be part of the team that created this for as part of her incredible floral showcase at . Did you guess correctly?!

On my last post I gave you all five facts about me - three were true, two were false!

For those of you who would like the answers, they are…

1. I have done a sky dive - true! I did a skydive in New Zealand and whilst amazing, I don’t think I’d repeat it 😬
2. I can’t start the day without coffee - false! I don’t like coffee and have never finished a cup.
3. I come from a really big family - false! My family is really quite small.
4. I love the Marvel films - true! I find it hard to pick a favourite but think it’s Avengers Endgame.
5. I can tap dance - true! I did tap from the age of three through to my early twenties. I really miss it and am considering going to adult classes (when I can find the time…!)

So, how did you do? Is there anything that surprised you?

*Photos are of the wonderful woofer I mentioned! I thought it was time she graced my feed as I know she has a few fans… 😂🐕‍🦺🐾

So, after a little break from posting thanks to life being super busy, I’ve had a few new followers so thought it might be a good idea to do a proper introduction!

Hi, I’m Carina! I’m a florist who also happens to be a wife and a mum to two fantastic small humans as well as a wonderful woofer. I have had a love for flowers since I was a child and getting to live out my flowery dreams now is absolutely incredible!

For a bit of fun, I’ve popped five facts below. Three are true, two are false!

1. I have done a sky dive
2. I can’t start the day without coffee
3. I come from a really big family
4. I love the Marvel films
5. I can tap dance

Which do you think are which…?! 🌸💕

Prompt - Colour scheme

I LOVE colour! Don’t get me wrong the blush pinks, lilacs and whites are stunning and I love working with them too, but I can’t deny that I do have a thing for colours that pack a punch. When I received the brief from Phoebe asking for a ‘VERY colourful’ bouquet I was over the moon!

Packed full of locally grown flowers from as well as dried bracken from the field at the end of the couple’s road where Phoebe and her now hubby regularly visit, this bouquet was a genuine pleasure to make 😊🌸

Prompt - Kind words

I pour my heart and soul into designing and putting together your flowers, so receiving testimonials like the one below after P & W’s special day(s), brought me so much joy!

‘I’m not one for traditional bouquets, however Carina created the most striking, colourful, and unique bouquet for my ceremony, while keeping it uber classy and cool. She also did a brilliant, matching boutonnière for my husband who didn’t want anything ’too much’ and nailed them both. They were so vibrant and full of personality that we ended up keeping them for our big party at the weekend. I couldn’t recommend Carina highly enough to anyone. Thank you’

“Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower”. John Harrigan

I love this quote. I am a firm believer that flowers are a fabulous way to share happiness, be it through the present moment or through fond memories and I like to think this makes them a little bit magic as well as beautiful 🪄🌸

Prompt - proud moment

This is a tricky one as the last year of flowers has been so incredible for me in so many ways and there have been a LOT of pinch me moments, so (again!), I’ll have to pick a few:

- Freelancing on huge weddings at amazing venues.
- Creating my first wedding of my own.
- Realising I’ve found a whole crew (what is the collective noun for florists?!) of fellow florists who I get to work with a call friends too.
- Delivering my niece her bridal bouquet and then getting to watch her walk down the aisle with it!
- Receiving wonderful kind words from clients.

Prompt - Favourite Flower

Can it be favourite flowerS please as it’s a bit like asking me to choose a favourite child?! It’s not possible and I’m pretty sure my answer changes each time I’m asked, so here are just a few…

Ranunculus - frilly and delicate, such a gorgeous spring flower with a long vase life.

Peony - not around for long and a total diva flower, but if they perform when you want them to? Amazing!

Dahlia - the range of colours and shapes are just so fun and cheery, and usually abundant in the summer.

Carnation - possibly an unpopular opinion, but their fantastic colours and the fact that they’re almost bomb proof as well as lasting forever has to earn them extra points!

Stocks - beautiful scent to accompany a beautiful bloom, what a combination!

Prompt - Details…

I’m all about the details, and sometimes with floristry the details are the bits that you don’t see!

In this case, the details for the mechanics of this wreath mean that it is completely compostable. Made to commemorate the passing of a much loved gentleman it was a pleasure to make, especially getting to include some myrtle from the client’s garden as a tribute to their favourite furry friend of the same name.
