Hello September 🍂
I’m always sad to say goodbye to August as it marks the end of the warm summer months.
For me August has been wonderful, full of making memories that will stay in my heart forever 💕
I’m not quite ready to welcome Autumn 🍁 so plan to make the most of these remaining sunny days ☀️ With a planned trip away and hopefully spending more time in my garden, I want to enjoy being outside for as long as possible before reaching for a comfy sweater and my favourite pair of fluffy socks 🧦
As a florist, I do need to plan ahead though! So tomorrow I will release my Luxury Christmas Wreath Workshop dates for you. Customers have been asking when they are, as some of you appear to be counting down the days until Christmas 🎄
Wishing you all a happy September 😊

🌻 FEELING GRATEFUL 🌻

I feel it’s important to have time off work to recharge your batteries. To enjoy the summer and spend time with your family. But does anyone else feel guilty about taking time off?

Being self-employed, I’m always conscious about closing my workshop for a week or so. But this week I want to thank my amazing customers (old and new) who have placed orders with me and continue to support my little floristry business!

My latest orders are for sympathy flowers and I can honestly say that every one of them means so much to me. All my funeral tributes are made with the utmost care and respect for your loved ones. So today, as I’m ordering beautiful fresh flowers for later this week, I’m feeling very grateful to be your chosen florist for all your floral needs 🌻

Thank you 😊

I’ve replied to all my messages and am just awaiting a few responses about forthcoming consultations, so please ensure you’ve booked in your date with me 📔
Wedding season 👰‍♀️ is now slowing down, which means I will soon be thinking about Christmas 🎄 Watch this space for wreath making dates that will be released in September!!!
I won’t release dates before this as I’m sure we all want to enjoy the rest of August/bank holiday weekend 🍦 before we start to think about Christmas 🎅🏻 ….
Have a great week everyone xx

A very warm welcome to August and today I’m celebrating my 50th birthday in Bali!
As I enter this new decade of my life I feel excited and privileged to be 50 years old. I am fortunate to have met some amazing people in my life. Family and friends who love and support me and have influenced and shaped me into the person I am today.
I’m so grateful for my wonderful husband Steve and our two grown up sons. I couldn’t be any more proud of the young men they have turned into. Both loving, caring and kind.
I intend to fully celebrate this milestone for the month of August with lots of special treats planned.
Have a great day everyone and a very happy August! ###

Here is some good advice when choosing your wedding florist. Look for someone who will tap into your vision and be as enthusiastic and passionate about your wedding day as you are.
A great wedding florist will provide you with a quality service. They offer so much more than buying a bunch of flowers. They should be friendly, professional and care about your wedding florals.
You will build a relationship with your florist, often liaising with them 1+ year before your big day. Your ideas may change and your florist will expect this. They will help you with ideas, design, best flower choice and your budget. Deal with logistics, site visits, delivery, source the best fresh flowers and materials, and be available for all manner of communication. Whether that be with you by phone calls, texts, emails, face to face or communicating on your behalf with your venue.
Below is a list of wedding flowers that most couples wish to discuss with their florist and if you are looking for someone with excellent reviews, I can offer you a free, no obligation, wedding consultation in my comfortable flower studio. It’s simple to get in touch via my website and I’m now taking bookings for 2025!

My Allotment 👩‍🌾🌿🥦 🥗 🥕
I’m a complete novice when it comes to growing my own fruit and veg. I never dreamed I would have a home with a large garden and inherit an allotment. So this year I decided to give growing my own food from packets of seeds a go!
Now I know I’ve got a long way to go, lots still to learn and there will be some disappointments along the way but I’m really excited about what is happening so far. My allotment plot cannot be compared to most but I’m pretty happy 😃 I have cut my first lot of kale today, enjoyed a variety of salad leaves, I’m adding basil, chives, parsley and rosemary to my dishes and I’m looking forward to seeing if my cucumbers, sweetcorn, carrots, parsnips, broccoli, strawberries, tomatoes and sweet potatoes are a success.
You never know what is possible until you try and if nothing else it’s good for me to get outside in the fresh air and enjoy a bit of gardening 👩‍🌾
P.S. marigolds are supposed to keep some pests away, if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

The humble carnation flower is (in my opinion)often overlooked. I always purchase the larger head carnations because once they’ve bloomed they are simply stunning. They cannot be compared with the small spray carnations you often find for sale in your local supermarket. I buy these regularly because they last for weeks. Once they’ve opened, I often choose to remove some of the centre petals to create a totally different look to these pretty flowers (see picture 2)
Why not give this a go yourself? or even include this modest flower to compliment all your other chosen wedding florals.

This beautiful pretty pink bouquet 🌸 was ordered ages ago by a lovely lady I had the pleasure of working with.
It was a joy to deliver it to her today, briefly catch up and bump into a few more ex-colleagues. None of whom have changed at all. Such a wonderful group of ladies who always put a smile on my face 😃
I’m so pleased they haven’t forgotten me! xx

Welcome July! 🌸 Chapter 7 of 12 and my final chapter of being a 40 something!
As I think about my 40’s I’ve achieved some pretty amazing things. I’ve watched my two boys grow up and turn into men, lived through their school years, completed the school run and even worked in a school! Changed my career, started my own business, moved house, enjoyed many amazing holidays, welcomed another dog into my family, celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary, I could go on….
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all been plain sailing, there has also been some truly horrible experiences that I’ve had to deal with but these only make us stronger and hold our loved ones closer than ever before.
July is going to be my busiest month ever with wedding floristry which I’m truly grateful for and once finished I can look forward to a well earned luxury break to begin the celebrations for my 50th birthday 😎 Wishing you all a very happy summer this July xx

🌷It’s the little things ….
Buttonholes/Boutonnière and Corsages are important additions created to compliment your wedding.
I like to think of them as the perfect finishing touches. So if you want to make your special guests feel included in your celebrations, then why not consider treating them to one?

☀️🌞It’s officially Summer!🌞☀️
Today marks the summer solstice, the first official day of astronomical summer. “Solstice” means the sun has gotten as high in the sky as it’s going to get for the year and that will happen today at 4:51 p.m.
Summer now runs through to Sunday 22nd September and I for one am ready for it!
I will be spending the next few weeks being busy fulfilling lots of floral wedding dreams and then jetting off for an amazing holiday in the sun!!!🌞

Well welcome June!
I’m really hoping this month brings some sunshine, so we can all enjoy long sunny days outside. Even my dogs have had enough of all this rain ☔️
May proved to be a varied month for me in so many ways but also an enjoyable month where I learnt a lot about myself including pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
My eldest son turned 21 so it was great to celebrate this milestone with him.
June and July will be busy with lots of fabulous wedding floristry to do and I can’t wait to get started! Every brides choice is individual which makes my job so much fun.
Wishing you all a great June!

This week I treated myself to two gorgeous Viburnum opulus ‘Roseum’ (Snowball plants) which I fell in love with last year after purchasing one from the National Flower Show in Chelmsford.
They are so dreamy, with their pretty creamy globular flower. I can’t wait to plant them over the weekend and look forward to watching them bloom for many years to come.
Happy weekend everyone!

You may have noticed I’ve been a bit quiet lately. That’s because my days have just been completely rammed with so much to do. Not that I’m complaining, I love being busy and today I’ve literally spent all day in my garden which was just wonderful!!!
The sun ☀️ was shining so I decided to make the most of it and replant almost every garden pot and hanging basket 🪴 I’d forgotten just how many I have and now I’m absolutely shattered and aching from head to toe. I know it will be worth it when the garden comes alive with pretty flowers 🌸 and I really hope the weather has now turned and we all get to enjoy more sunny days outside ⛅️ It’s so good for you and my two dogs 🐶 🐶 couldn’t be happier following me around the garden as I potter away!

01/05/2024

Hello all,
As I welcome the month of May, here’s what I’ve been up to in April.
Well basically I’m slowly turning into Barbara from the 70’s sitcom the Good Life. I’m sure most of you would compare me more to snobby Margo 😆 (because I’m really not a dungarees kinda girl) but the older I get the more I actually enjoy spending time in my garden growing flowers 🌸 fruits 🍅 and vegetables 🥕 on my allotment, just like Barbara.
As well as this, I’ve also been clearing the bottom area of my garden 🌿 to slowly turn it into a wildflower meadow. This will look much prettier than the ever present stinging nettles and will be great for attracting more bees 🐝 🐝🐝
This month I will be busy attempting to make the garden look presentable, ready for our local village ‘Open Garden Event’ in June 🪴(helping raise funds for the local community). I’ve always been keen to volunteer and like meeting new people. I hope to learn a thing or two from some of the other keen gardeners who have a fountain of knowledge.
This leads me nicely onto a lovely lady called Emily from Ardleigh Flower Farm who I recently met. She has been an absolute gem at advising me about growing my own flowers 🌱as she runs her own flower farm 🌼 it proves that kindness costs nothing and hard work pays off.
I do hope you all have a fabulous May and do more of what makes you happy 😃

Marriage -
This weekend I celebrated my lovely Aunty and Uncle’s Golden Wedding Anniversary with them, that’s 50 years of a happy marriage. As I watched them stand together, I noticed that they still have lots of love for one another and a great sense of humour. To hear them talk about their wedding day (like it was yesterday) and their 50 year marriage with joy, happiness and lots of wonderful memories was golden!
I myself celebrated my Silver Wedding Anniversary last year, that’s 25 years of love, teamwork, respect, kindness and admiration for each other. Being there through the bad times as well as the good and I too remember my wedding day with so much happiness.
To all my future couples who are busy preparing for their 2024 wedding day, please remember to spare a moment to appreciate your memorable day and I hope you all have a long, happy and healthy marriage together.

Today is national pet day so of course I have to do a shout out to my troublesome twosome!
My adorable Cavapoo Barney, now 11 years old and the absolute best pet ever & my crazy, nearly 3 year old Cockapoo Rosie (appropriately named after my love for flowers). She’s always full of beans and loves doing impersonations of Tigger!!
They both bring so much love and joy to our family and play a very important role to ‘Flowers with Finesse’. Both being employed as ‘Barketing Manager’ & ‘Assistant Barketing Pawtroller’.

I absolutely adore flowers and dogs, so this picture grabbed my attention today. Spotted on social media, it’s too amazing not to share with my flowery friends 🌸🐶
There was discussion that the picture has been adapted by AI but whether real or not it’s still gorgeous.
It does however make a florists life difficult when customers approach us with images of highly filtered pictures and AI generated material for inspiration for us to design from. I’m sure this is happening with lots of other professions too and will continue to do so in the digital world we now all live in.

Happy Fri-yay! Has anything inspired you this week?
In-between the rain showers, I have been concentrating on getting my garden allotment ready for planting 🪴My inspiration came from a generous giveaway of some ‘cafe au lait’ dahlia tubers by Emily . It was great to receive them earlier this week and to meet lovely Emily. She certainly has a passion for her locally grown flowers 🌷and I just hope that some of her luck for flower farming rubs off on me! My allotment is very much in the early stages and won’t be a flower farm but I can dream that one day I will be picking some pretty flowers to use in my arrangements, just like in this picture💐

I always find it difficult to get motivated after a bank holiday and today is no different.
So as I love to be organised and find writing a list so satisfying, I’ve written myself a ‘TO DO’ list under the following categories:
🌸To do today
🌿To do this week
🌸To do this month
🌿Future plans for my business
🌸Things I need to buy
Everything always seems so much clearer to me once I’ve written it down on paper. Must be something to do with my 28 year admin background!!!
So today is definitely an admin day, to ease myself back into work and I’m going to enjoy a 4 day week too!

Today starts the beginning of a new season & I feel like celebrating! 🎉 I’m fully ready to embrace everything that Spring has to offer. The days, weeks and months pass by so quickly that sometimes I forget to live in the moment and appreciate the little things in life. So this afternoon I stopped what I was doing to walk around my garden. It felt so good to be outside in the sunshine ☀️ walking amongst the spring flowers and blossom trees with my two dogs. Watching them enjoy the freedom of exploring the garden with me is simply priceless.

Last night I enjoyed a fun evening out learning how to paint 🎨 flowers using watercolours.
The workshop was organised by the lovely Rhianna .local and was expertly run by the brilliantly talented Kerry
A beautiful group of ladies (all novices) came together to peacefully relax, learn a new skill and be creative.
I thoroughly recommend trying something new and giving it a go!

There’s one thing in life that is guaranteed and that’s change.
My Mother’s Days celebrations have certainly changed for me over the years!
Remembering the days I spent crafting my mum a Mother’s Day card and making her breakfast in bed (usually soggy cornflakes with a cold cup of tea ☕️) to then having my own children surprise me with breakfast (coffee and a croissant, far more appealing) and excitedly present me with their little gifts bought from the school sale as well as a pretty bunch of flowers 💐
Now times have changed again, my adult children are working today, as am I (on my flowers stall) but when they get home they have promised to cook me a roast dinner 🍽️ as a sign of appreciation for everything I do for them and I will remind them that their kindness includes cleaning up afterwards!!!
Times always change and these moments in our life are to be treasured because one day they become memories.
Today I will be remembering all the loved ones who have touched my heart over the years and are sadly no longer here with us to celebrate this special day.
I wish all of you a lovely Mothering Sunday ###
