With only days to go until my Christmas Wreath Workshops start the next few days is all about getting organised. I’ll certainly be making a list and checking it twice!
There is plenty to do from moving furniture, hanging fairy lights, displaying lots of embellishments and sourcing foliage. It’s hard work but so rewarding and a great way to get me in the mood for the Christmas season 🎄
If anyone hasn’t yet booked but would really love to make a Luxury wreath with me, do message by the end of this week and I’ll see what I can do.

Barney was over the moon yesterday to be reunited with his beloved Pat. We invited Pat round for tea and cake 🎂 to help her celebrate her 90th birthday!
For those who don’t know Pat, she was our local primary school’s lollipop lady for many years. A job she absolutely loved! She enjoyed meeting all the families, school children and their pet dogs.
From a puppy I would walk Barney and my boys to school and they couldn’t wait to see Pat every morning. Especially Barney as she would always give him a treat and make a big fuss of him. Something he still remembers to this day.
It was great for our lovely friends from Abberton to bring Pat over to visit us and celebrate this special birthday!

I’m struggling to understand the meaning behind all of these different overpriced advent calendars!
New versions are popping up everywhere and have moved on from a daily chocolate treat.
Every possible beauty brand and beyond are jumping on the bandwagon. I’ve spotted flavoured teas, coffee pods, gins and scented candles and all with a hefty price tag. Clearly all these are aimed at adults. You name it and you can probably buy it.
Advent is about the countdown to Christmas and the original paper advent calendar began in the 20th century. Originating from Germany the prototype hid tiny pictures behind little numbered doors. It consisted of 24 doors to open on the run up to the birth of Christ, excluding Christmas Day. Chocolate treats were not introduced until 1958 by a British Chocolate manufacturer and their popularity has overtaken the paper version.
I enjoy the countdown to Christmas and as an adult I would much prefer to open a traditional paper advent calendar. So wish me luck as I now try to find one!

Well welcome November!
I can’t quite believe I’m saying this as the next stop will be December🎅🏻 ….
October has flown by and it’s been a mix of work, rest and play.
I love being a florist and yesterday’s wedding was my last one for this year. I thoroughly enjoyed getting creative and tapping into my Autumnal flair🍂🍁
This month has been packed full of social events (lucky me) with trips to London, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, eating out, theatre shows and lots of dancing 💃 it’s certainly been tons of fun.
I’m pleased to have raised money during October for ‘Breast Cancer Now’ 🩷charity. I managed to raise over £550! My original target was £150 so I smashed it. I couldn’t have achieved this without the help of many of you!

I still feel so sad about the loss of Liam Payne from One Direction in October. It is such a tragic loss of a talented young man’s life and devastating for his loved ones. As a mother of young men, mental health is so important and to anyone who is struggling, please don’t hide it. Reach out to your family and friends because they will always want to help you.
I often say in a world where you can be anything ‘Be Kind’. We never really know what people might be going through and kindness costs nothing.
Whatever you have planned for November I hope it’s a good month for you ###

As October is breast cancer awareness month, this week I held an afternoon tea fundraiser for ‘Breast Cancer Now’ charity. I’m pleased to announce that my total so far is £553.83.
Money raised will help people living with breast cancer and fund life-saving research. By taking part i’m also wanting to raise awareness of this terrible disease. Over 55,000 people (both men and woman) are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year. So please check your breasts regularly and get any new or unusual changes promptly checked out by your GP.
I’d like to think that one day in the future, no one will lose their life to breast cancer or any cancer which is money for research is urgently needed.
I’ve set up a JustGiving page so if anyone would still like to contribute to this worthy charity and help those affected I’d be very grateful. See link in my story. For all those who have kindly donated I’m truly thankful ###

Do you know the reason why we hang a wreath on our door at Christmas? 🎄
In case you’ve ever wondered this tradition started in the 16th century and has evolved over the years.
Its circular shape represents eternity, for it has no beginning and no end. Evergreen foliage represents the continuity of life and nature.
Adopted by the Christian faith, wreaths are seen to observe the advent season. The wreath is viewed as an invitation for the spirit of Christmas to enter the home and bring luck. Suggesting Christmas spirit dwells within.
I like this tradition and have always hung a Christmas wreath on my door. More recently I’ve found joy in making a newly styled fresh wreath each year. I get inspired by different trends but usually revert back to a country classic rustic design.
So there you have it. Why we hang a wreath on our front door at Christmas.

When I attended my very first wreath making workshop, it ignited my curiosity to learn more about floristry. Years later I’m now running my own Christmas wreath workshops!
When I decided to begin holding these, I wanted them to feel totally luxurious. I didn’t want to limit resources to allow customers to relax, learn a new skill and be totally creative!
Over the past few years I’ve achieved an enjoyable experience for all and this is why my customers return year on year.
My work studio is transformed into a Christmassy space where the scent of fresh foliage greets you on arrival, along with a chilled glass of Prosecco and a delicious mince pie.
There is a beautiful display of Christmas ribbons, baubles and embellishments to suit all tastes.
Once you’ve made your wreath, how you choose to decorate it is entirely up to you. Whether it’s simple and elegant, traditional style or large and glitzy! From an array of ribbons, pine cones, dried fruit, cinnamon sticks, lotus flowers, berries, holly, colourful baubles and so much more you will certainly be spoilt for choice. There’s even battery lights too!

Today is World 🌎 Menopause Day and I for one am pleased that woman don’t have to hide away and not openly talk about this.
Being a 50 year old woman, lots of my friends are either approaching, going through or have managed their way through menopause. Talking to other woman about their experiences can really help you and supporting each other is invaluable.
As I take this journey, I’m grateful there is now much more information available for woman and their families to share a better understanding.
If you are struggling with symptoms (and there’s a lot of them!) please don’t suffer in silence as menopause takes several years to navigate your way through.
There is still a long way to go before every woman receives the care she needs. I hope this changes soon, to provide the best outcome for future generations. That’s why so many celebrities are using their voice to fight for this issue (thank you all) and it’s why I’ve chosen to speak openly about this today.

Balance is so important!
& I’m not talking about standing on one leg, although that’s important too.
I’m talking about how you balance everything in your life.
You’ve probably not even given yourself time to think about it.
Since turning 50, I’ve decided to try harder to find the best balance that works for me.
Maybe spare some time this weekend to think about your life balance. Is there anything you want to improve? We only get one life so live it well.

Welcome October - the month of golden sunsets, and chilly breezes. A month of falling leaves 🍂, crisp walks, cosy fires 🔥 and pumpkin spice lattes!!!
My AGA is now officially on. My fluffy slippers are in daily use. It’s the beginning of wearing warm coats, gloves and boots. Especially on a brisk dog walk 🐶. It’s funny how the seasons change so suddenly and our routines adapt to the different weather conditions.
I’m very excited this month to be creating flowers for an autumnal themed wedding. It’s my favourite time of year to get married, as it’s the month I chose for my own wedding nearly 26 years ago! I just love the rich palette of autumnal colours, that inspire my creative mind at this time of year.
I’m also busy planning for my popular Luxury Christmas Wreath Workshops that commence in only 8 weeks time! Is anyone else feeling autumnal?
Today is the first day I’ve felt the change of seasons 🍂 so it was time for me to add a few autumnal touches around my kitchen to embrace the beauty.
Before long I’ll also be adding some rustic decor to my front door and I’m itching to buy some pretty winter bedding plants, to help brighten up my outside garden pots and make the space look more inviting.

Could you survive a whole year without buying any clothes or shoes?

Ever since I was 14 and earned my own pocket money I’ve loved shopping for clothes 🛍️. I enjoy experimenting with new styles and finding outfits to suit me.
Now that Autumn 🍂 has arrived, I’m usually excited to shop for some new pieces to update my wardrobe. But what if I didn’t shop for a year?
That’s no new clothes for Autumn, Winter/Christmas, Spring and Summer!
No new loungewear, slippers, shoes, coats, bags and so on.
My husband doubts I can do it!!!
God knows I’m fortunate enough to have plenty of clothes in my wardrobe, some I’ve not worn in ages and I’m too quick to donate/give them away. We all say we ‘need’ something new but do we really need them?
Social media plays a big role in enticing us to go and buy new products, including new season outfits.
So I’ve decided to challenge myself.
Can I do it? Will I fail? Could you do it?

One of my self challenges since turning 50 was to push through my fear of heights. I’m fine sitting on a plane but could I visit the world’s tallest building in Dubai the Burj Khalifa and the nearby Sky View building and walk across the glass view?
I’m pleased to say today I did it!!!
It might not seem like a huge deal to some but for me it was.
Steve and James went one step (literally) further and hung off the side of the building as well as sliding down the side!

Hello September 🍂
I’m always sad to say goodbye to August as it marks the end of the warm summer months.
For me August has been wonderful, full of making memories that will stay in my heart forever 💕
I’m not quite ready to welcome Autumn 🍁 so plan to make the most of these remaining sunny days ☀️ With a planned trip away and hopefully spending more time in my garden, I want to enjoy being outside for as long as possible before reaching for a comfy sweater and my favourite pair of fluffy socks 🧦
As a florist, I do need to plan ahead though! So tomorrow I will release my Luxury Christmas Wreath Workshop dates for you. Customers have been asking when they are, as some of you appear to be counting down the days until Christmas 🎄

Lots of thought always goes into organising a funeral and every little detail is important. I was asked to design a floral arrangement to soften an entrance table at a wake. This table would be used to display treasured photographs of a special man.
