A busy day spent in the kitchen

Pictured is a wholemeal and a white loaf from Mrs Beetons cookbook (a recipe from 1861!!). I was really happy with this bread, it came out with a beutiful chewy crust and a tight spongey crumb.

I also spent a large portion of the day making 12 pastel de nata's, these are a traditional Portuguese custard tart and are one of my favourite sweet treats. These ones came out great with the signature crunchy swirl in the base.
