In this together ✨

It’s a crazy time at the moment but we really are all in this together.

If you are one of my brides that has an upcoming day rest assured that if I am fit and healthy then i will be there as planned, and I also have plans in place for others to fill in with deliveries and collections if for any reason I am unable to make it, or if you are worried and want to discuss contingency plans then a stress busting session can easily be done over Skype.

If the government pushes ahead with plans to enforce social distancing measures and your day gets cancelled then I will do my best to help rearrange all bookings for future dates.

As frustrating as it is, we cannot control how any of this is going to go and the most important thing is that you, and your friends and family stay safe and healthy.

Wedding Wednesday ✨

With so much negative press around it can be easy to get caught up in a negative mind set, so today I decided to focus on what is positive which meant my day mainly consisted of finalising my package details and trying to get the website a little closer to being finished, as well as organising some very exciting venue meetings and plans for the next few weeks. What better way is there to spend wedding Wednesday?! 2020 is going to be a good year.

However you have spent your Wednesday I hope you had a relaxing one - and remember, although it’s important to keep up to date with the news, it’s ok to press mute for a bit.

Wedding Insurance✨

Wedding insurance is something many brides decide not to get but I am a firm believer it is vital for peace of mind if anything does go wrong.

With the cases of Coronavirus increasing daily in the UK there is uncertainty with travel and hotel access, and the government will be meeting to decide wether they should ban public gatherings for the foreseeable future. If this happens and you are planning a Spring or early Summer wedding, and have insurance, then this is where it would come into play. Check your policy and make sure it covers government regulation; and if you don’t yet have it I recommend taking some out as many companies will only cover if the policy is taken out prior to new regulation being announced.

I truly hope none of your days get postponed but i hope it brings you peace knowing you are protected if the worst should happen.

You’ve Got This✨

Just a little reminder that you can handle whatever this week throws at you.

It doesn’t matter if you are in the middle of planning, newly engaged or in the final countdown for a spring wedding; each stage comes with its own challenges and stresses you can’t control. The one thing you can control is how you tackle them. Remember to step back, take a deep breath and ask yourself ‘Can I change this?’ If not then don’t waste time worrying about it; but if you can, work through a solution bit by bit and the problem will soon go away.

Weddings have a tendency to magnify small issues and make them seem huge, so trying to apply the situation to a non wedding related scenario will help you see things more calmly and clearly.

The Other Loves of Your Life ✨

Taking a minute to celebrate the bride tribe - these should be the ladies you know you can count on and who will help keep you calm. Choosing the wrong person can lead to a lot of unnecessary stress, so pick those you couldn’t imagine your day without rather than someone you think you SHOULD have.

It’s Ok if it’s Not the Best Day of Your Life ✨

When looking through bridal forums I noticed a common theme in post bridal blues chats - questions of “why do I feel so deflated?” & “Why wasn’t it the happiest day of my life?” are repeated in forum after forum with brides being unreasonably hard on themselves for not feeling how they think they SHOULD feel.

It’s ok if your wedding day isn’t the happiest day of your life. We are so often bombarded with the idea that your wedding day should be perfect and when it doesn’t measure up to your expectations this can lead to feelings of deflation and depression in the days following.

It’s ok for your wedding to just be a really good day.. by taking the pressure off yourself to not have things perfect you give yourself space to relax, to enjoy it and really be in the moment without worrying about everything. Don’t be so hard on yourself and don’t put pressure on yourself to feel how you think you should feel. At the end of the day, marrying the one you love with your family & friends around you is all that matters.

Sun-day ✨

The sun is shining and I’ve had a productive morning sorting out and cleaning my prop shed. Definitely feels like spring is just around the corner and the start of wedding season will be officially upon us. So excited for all the amazing weddings i get to be part of this year - each so different but all equally amazing ✨

And what better way to celebrate excitment than sharing this photo of two of my own flower girls from last year. I love how you can almost feel the anticipation as they wait for the tractor to arrive to take them to the barn.

Aromatherapy ✨

Never underestimate the power of aromatherapy for banishing that wedding morning stress. Whether it’s a calming roll on for your pulse points or a few drops of lavender in a room diffuser or in your shower steam, inhaling essential oils through slow and deep breaths can help melt stress away.

I’ve been learning so much about how I can incorporate essential oils into my bridal mindfulness techniques from .beth.uk and she has very kindly sent me some lovely calming essential oil samples that are safely packed in my ‘on the day’ survival kit, ready to help any of my blissful brides calm those morning jitters.

Leap Year✨

Happy February 29th - the day tradition says women are allowed to propose to their partners.

Now I’m a big believer that an engagement should be a mutually decided upon step and if you’re a women and want to propose to your partner then you shouldn’t have to wait 4 years to do so. Although the number of women proposing has increased over the past decade, a recent survey has discovered that if women were to propose to their partners, 52% would still be more inclined to do so on 29 February if it was a leap year, compared to just 25% on Valentine’s Day.

So, What are your thoughts on this tradition? Were you a leap year bride to be?

Whatever you’re doing with your extra day - enjoy ✨

Soundtrack Your Day ✨

Filling the quiet moments of your day with music will add to the overall experience of your guests.

Now I’m not saying hire different musicians for each section - if your budget allows this then great, but by simply creating different playlists on your phone and playing them pre-ceremony, during the drinks reception and over dinner, you can tailor and heighten the overall mood of the moment.

It’s their day too! ✨

You don’t need a reminder that the day is about you AND your significant other, but you may need a reminder to involve them in the planning. Often brides have this vision of the day they want to create which is always great, but remember to check in with the other person this day is for early on and see how involved they want to be with certain decisions. Often it’s only food, venue and suit and they’ll leave the details for you, but getting this understood from the start of planning will save any arguments further down the planning line.

Pancakes! ✨

Who said wedding cakes have to be traditional? Who says they even have to be cake at all! It’s your day and you can have it your way.

Today is Pancake Day and this pancake cake idea would be ideal for any pancake lover, or a couple who have a Saturday morning pancake tradition.

Incorporating your personality or likes into areas such as cake and evening dining are just two of the ways to make your day scream YOU!

No Bad Days ✨

When things go wrong it can be so easy to get caught in a negative mindset that can quickly spiral out of control - the key is taking these moments and seeing them for what they are, just moments that will pass, and not let them taint the rest of your day.

Sip Sip Hurray✨

Even the smallest corners can be styled to suit your theme.

This simple set up of candles, flowers and small sign perfectly filled an empty spot on the end of bar and continued the hexagon theme from the main event space through to the bar area.

“It’s just mud!”✨

This is a photo of me and my husband on our wedding day and that black smudge on my butt is mud because I FELL OVER! That’s right, I finished our confetti walk, living my best life and bam - my husband stood on my veil, my heel got stuck in the grass, I went backwards and I ended up laying on the floor, in mud.

Now in the lead up to our day I thought of multiple things that could go wrong and ruining my dress pre-photos, in front of all our guests was definitely quite high up there on the scale of anxiety inducing situations; but guess what? I was ok, I survived.. and now it’s a funny story that we laugh about with each other and everyone who was there. I love seeing that black smudge in my photos and it makes me smile. Don’t get me wrong, I was upset at the time but said to me “it’s just mud!” And she was 100% right, it was just mud.

I use this as my example because it shows worrying about things going wrong won’t make a difference to if things will go wrong or not, and if they do it’s not the end of the world - it’s just the start of a future funny story✨

The One ✨

When wedding planning gets too much, and stress takes over, remember to take a step back and refocus on who you’re in this with and what you’re doing it for. At the end of the day you two are all that matters, don’t loose sight of that ✨

Pinterest ✨

Been busy trying to get my head around what the new Pinterest changes means for The Blissful Bride’s Pinterest boards and how they can help with your planning and styling inspiration.

Have you found Pinterest helpful in the run up to your day? It’s such a great and valuable source of inspiration but it’s also important to not get caught up in comparing your day to what you see on there.. what’s important is taking ideas, being inspired but making them your own ✨

Make Your Mark✨

Your day should represent you both and who you are as people, and there are multiple times throughout the day you can be sure to inject some of your own personality into the festivities.

One key time for this is during the welcome drinks - choose something that make your guests instantly know they are at YOUR wedding. If you drink champagne then going with champagne is fine but there are other options out there. Take this coconut bar for example! How great is this for an alternative welcome drink?!

Have a look around at options and don’t be afraid to go for something different✨

Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork✨

Amazing things happen when people work together. This beautiful ceremony space was created by a collaboration of ideas and suggestions between myself, & . With only a rough idea as to what we wanted, we came together the day before and created this.

If you have multiple suppliers creating your day, ask them if they know of each other and if they don’t, offer to connect them; Or arrange a joint meeting with your stylist and florist to ensure you’re all working on the same page. When people with a shared vision work together, magic can happen ✨
