Ljd Cards

Ljd Cards was officially started in 2008. However, ever since I can remember I have loved anything creative. As soon as I could hold a pencil I was drawing and painting.

When I was little, I loved to make cards for birthdays and Christmas for family and friends. So I suppose I was always destined to have this career.

I started off just making cards as a hobby, selling a few to family and friends. It was actually my mom who had the idea that I should make and sell just the embellishments used on cards. So I sat down and came up with a few designs (including my vellum butterflies which I still use to this day on some of my butterfly collection) and decided to test the waters.

I soon realised that it was a good idea and there was a demand for my designs, which was such a fantastic humbling feeling. Over time, I expanded my range and gained regular customers who were ordering huge quantities of some designs, especially the butterflies. Being a little curious, I did some research and discovered they were using them for wedding stationery. It was this light bulb moment, which has lead to where I am today and the career I have. As I realised, I too could make wedding stationery. I started with just one simply butterfly invite design and have grown from there. I now have hundreds of designs and I'm constantly launching new designs. I'm now very proudly fully self employed and loving every minute (even the stressful ones!). And I suppose you could say the rest is history, as I have never looked back.
