What a fantastic night fundraising for at , .
We had a great time and so did all the customers by all accounts. Lots of great comments and more importantly tonnes of conversations about mental health and how we can improve. Little touches like Mr. Megaro himself helping in the kitchen and being there all night are what inspires respect and happiness within a hospitality team. Its so inspiring to see such a humble and welcoming team environment. And what a huge gesture from the hotel, closing the busy restaurant for a whole night for this event ❤️

We sponsored our course of the 'snacks' and the additional macarons and with the generosity of some of our suppliers - thank you to /Zanetti for kindly donating the aged parmesan and beautiful black olives, organised by . Thank you to for the goat meat which we stuffed inside the olives. We also used gin from and rapeseed oil from , showcasing some great local produce.

The other chefs were a pleasure to work with and all did an incredible job, a menu to be really proud of. Big shout out to , .kaced , .reci and of course .

Can't wait for the next fundraiser.

Calling all newly engaged couples! Congratulations!

We love catering weddings, not only because we get to know our clients over several months and sometimes years, but because every single one is different, unique to that couple.
We believe the catering should be as well. Food on a wedding day is incredibly important – whether you’re having a sit-down meal, buffet, or street food, it’s something that guests will remember and talk about for years to come.

What do you get when you book Eat Street for your wedding catering?
• Bespoke menu, written for you. All requirements are considered – for example, we can do a completely gluten-free or vegan menu
• Always Isle of Wight beef, pork, lamb, and goat
• Always chalk stream trout from Romsey
• Always fresh bread, baked on the day
• Always prepared from scratch, by Alex at our HQ in Cowes
• Complimentary menu tasting for up to 4 people, additional tastings available to ensure your menu is perfect!
• If appropriate to the menu, complimentary service from our horsebox
• No additional charges – what you see is what you pay. Always!
• Personal communication via a channel of your choice
• Complimentary unlimited meetings – via Zoom, phone, at HQ, or on-site
• Combined wedding experience of over 20 years
• Personalised touches – including bespoke chocolate work, colour scheme matching
• Bespoke ‘thank you’ gift from an Island producer
• We, Alex & Laurel, will always be working at your wedding!

We only have limited available dates in 2025 and are looking forward to another busy year. Taking bookings for 2026 and onwards

As 2024 comes to a close, we’re closing for a couple of weeks to enjoy some much-needed family time after a busy old year!

We started the year as a two, we’re ending it as a three! What a crazy time this adventure as working parents has been.

After returning back to work following 3 months off, it was straight into a mad summer season of weddings and events, whilst also juggling a newborn, our relationship, and our own identities. It’s been tough, but we’ve made it and are continuously improving things to create more of a balance

Our 2024 roundup
- 1400 people fed
- 7 weddings
- Almost 4000 portions of cake for Lagom
- Launch of our ‘pay what you want’ evenings
- Launch of our new horsebox
- Exclusive takeaway nights returned
- Hundreds of supportive customers

This year has been a huge adjustment for us, and not without it’s struggles; the transition to parenthood wasn’t the magical time everyone promised it would be, the heat during the summer turned HQ into an actual oven – unpleasant for us, unbearable for a newborn, sleepless nights and early mornings took their toll, and the jealousy for the other took over. Alex wanted to spend more time with Mabel and less time working, Laurel the opposite!

The joys of running your own business mean that when something isn’t working, you can change it without hoop jumping – we’ve each gone down to a 3.5 day working week over winter and continue to take our Friday afternoons off, as a couple, without Mabel.

We continue to be so proud of our little business and all it’s achieving, but we wouldn’t be able to do any of it with your support; either through attending our evenings, ordering takeaway, leaving reviews, recommending us on social media, or even looking after Mabel at short notice (Huge thanks to Rosie’s childcare & ChilliWinter !)

Here’s to 2025, we hope you continue to join us on our journey

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

IW Observer issue 308 – – Happy Christmas to everybody

In this, our Christmas edition, there’s lots of festive news. Darren Everest looks back on the year in the garden (p5) and Tilly reviews 2024’s front pages (ps 14 & 15). Read how an empty shop in Newport has been transformed into a lively café (p7) and another empty premises has also been put to good use (p19). There’s a warning from the fire service on page 22 and an update on the two dogs we featured on last year’s Christmas edition (p23). And on page 25 Rev Chris Bradish finds love in the Christmas story, while Holmsey has an alternative take on it!

We wish all our readers, stockists and advertisers the merriest Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous 2025.

We are taking a short break over the festive period and will be back on January 3rd.

Let's talk canapes.

The perfect bite-sized dish for any celebration. As with all our food, our canapes are slightly different from the usual smoked salmon blini. Our favourites include beetroot baji, smoked trout mousse with oatcake and caper berry, and Alex's signature savoury 'oreo'.

We love using local produce for then, to really showcase the wonderful flavours of our Island producers!

They are great for drinks receptions, where a full meal is too much, or to really kick off a wedding with flavour. We can even create your own bespoke ones!

To celebrate 6 months of Mabel, I've written my first blog about the highs and lows of parenthood.

Contains raw honesty, which some might find uncomfortable, but as I was taught when I was a child 'honesty is the best policy'
