Once again it shows the value of supporting each other and being able to remember the people our loved ones were and not defining them by how they died.

We are so proud to be a part of this gentle, caring supportive drive to not only unite people in their grief but to inspire change. 💜

The new website goes live this morning! www.speaktheirname.org is a UK website. This platform is dedicated to remembering loved ones lost to su***de, providing a space for their memory to be cherished and shared.

We hope that anyone who creates a page for their loved one is helped to feel a little less alone in their grief by feeling a connection to other people who have suffered the same loss. Personally having both been bereaved to su***de we both can honestly say the loss of our darling daughters Ellen in 2017, Beth in 2019 and Karen’s husband Ian in 2015 threw us into the loneliest place ever. We both struggled not only with this isolation and complex grief but not knowing if there was anywhere specific that we could turn to for help. The future looked very bleak...

Through our own experiences and connections we both are committed to helping break the isolation and help support and connect others bereaved to su***de. This website is another platform of support, connection and creativity.

There are pages showing where you can access support either for yourself or someone you are worried about.

Su***de bereavement support is su***de prevention so please feel free to share - you never know who might need to see this one day......

It’s not easy to go on tv and talk about su***de but we do it to reach as many people as we can. The Speak Their Name Quilts give people bereaved by su***de a connection to others who have suffered the same. The www.speaktheirname.org website launches tomorrow giving everyone bereaved by su***de in the UK the opportunity to create a memorial page for their loved one. Su***de bereavement support IS su***de prevention. ***deprevention

We will be at the Baton Of Hope UK conference tomorrow in Sheffield revealing the newest panel of our quilt. We continue to gather squares on an ongoing basis so will add to this as time goes on to make it the same size as the others. Anyone bereaved by su***de can make a square for the Yorkshire quilt. There are also other quilts for other regions and more counties starting with theirs as time goes on. Please email [email protected] if you wish to take part.

Yarndale 2023 was an absolute blast !!!!
I had an amazing time last year but this year far exceeded that because I felt at ease and more comfortable. Here’s a few photos of the weekend from the Friday when I arrived to help Siobhanscrafts set up her amazing stall, to a walk through the park and coffee and food at Coopers cafe bar skipton, to the hundreds of crocheted pennants that make up the iconic Yarndale bunting. The animals living their best lives enjoying all the attention they were getting from yarn lovers far and wide to the thought provoking exhibition of the Yorkshire Speak Their Name Events su***de quilt panels.

Good food. Good company. Memories made to last a lifetime.

Yarndale you give me life 💛😊🧶🌈
Till next year, here’s my memories….

* IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT UPCOMING CONFERENCE *

A huge thank you for booking your ticket for our upcoming Baton Of Hope Conference. Due to the incredible success of the Baton Of Hope we are re-organising the charity’s inaugural conference to accommodate the national surge of interest. To do this we have taken the decision to postpone the ‘Towards A Zero Su***de Society’ conference until Thursday March 21st. We hope you can still join us for an even more ambitious event.

If you already have a ticket, this will be automatically valid against the new date. If you're unable to attend the new date, please email us at [email protected] to request your refund.
Thanks in advance,

The Baton Of Hope Team

Today seventeen families in the UK will know the screaming pain of losing a loved one to su***de. And every day there will be another 17.

The statistics have stagnated for more than 15 years.

But there is Hope.

The Baton Of Hope invites you to take part in a pioneering conference in which we discuss a “zero su***de society” and how we can move towards it. Speakers include political strategist and mental health campaigner Alastair Campbell, the president of the International Association for Su***de Prevention Prof. Rory O’Connor and the 3Dads. Lunch and entertainment also provided. Tickets available at Eventbrite (just search Baton Of Hope).
