We have been having some very exciting meetings today about some great community events coming to Thurrock, and it had has talking about Light Up Thurrock 2024. 💡

We were gobsmacked at the amount of people that got involved in our Lantern parade this year and headed to the park with us. Your feedback has been so valuable.

We cannot wait to see LUT in the future!

Sidenote, how amazing were Flash Bang Brass to party with on Grays High Street!

Can you believe it's nearly been a week since Light Up!? 💡

Here are some great shots by Mark Sepple of MEGA SEA NOISE James supplying the early event tunes and Drunk & Hungry creating the atmosphere as people were arriving for our lantern parade, with the help of Official South Essex College students and CM Production Management... Arts Outburst lantern activities for newcomers and Same Sky's lantern friends entertaining onlookers before the sun set.

You were all such a fab addition, thank you!

We hope you had a glorious weekend, Thurrock! 💡
Light Up Thurrock is officially over for another year... thank you to everyone that attended. It was so great to see so many people in support and enjoying the event and to see how it has grown!

Big thanks to every community group, organisation and school that made a lantern with us at Arts Outburst and attended our lantern parade and our main event at Grays Town Park.

Not forgetting the wonderful artists, creative partners and amazing volunteers that helped make the evening a success. MEGA SEA NOISE Drunk & Hungry for kicking off the evening with live music, CM Production Management for helping to illuminate Grays Town Park, Official South Essex College students for both their technical support at both venues and a beautiful performance outside the college, Emergency Exit Arts and their LED Butterflies, Same Sky for their amazing lantern creations and performances, Pif-Paf Theatre and their charismatic Moths at Work: Moon. Essex & London Gaming Bus for joining us. A shout out to Friends of Grays Town Park Cafe for keeping their doors open along side food vendor, Lizzy's Lunch Box. 💡No more sleeps... Let's go Grays!

4:30pm - 6pm @ Kilverts Field (green infront of Yacht Club)
Join us for music by DJ James of MEGA SEA NOISE and LIVE MUSIC by local talented souls, Drunk & Hungry! 🎸 with sound supported by Official South Essex College.
There will also be a lantern station for your young ones to make a mess-free lantern if they haven't already.

6:15pm @ Kilverts Field, Grays Beach
Flash Bang Brass, Same Sky & Arts Outburst will be leading the procession via Grays High Street to our Friends of Grays Town Park. Bring those lanterns and walk with us to the sound of Flash Bang Brass and admire Same Sky's amazing lantern work!
(Parade will include footpaths and road-walking supported by a rolling road closure).

7pm @ Grays Town Park - the event continues...
A performance by Flash Bang Brass will kick the evening off and then you will be free to enjoy the surroundings, you can meet Moths At Work with Pif-Paf Theatre, get your game on with Essex & London Gaming Bus enjoy Same Sky, Emergency Exit Arts and CM Production Management's handy work in illuminating the park and filling Grays with light. Our Neon Garden will make a return with a DIY face painting and selfie station. Grays Town Park Cafe will be open this evening for hot beverages and there will be an independent food vendor on site.

We cannot wait to see you all with your wonderful lanterns to enjoy the evening with us. Light Up Thurrock FINALE EVENT | FREE & FAMILY FRIENDLY LET'S GO GRAYS!

This wonderful batch of musicians will be leading our Lantern Parade from Kilverts Feild (the green by the yacht club) at Grays Beach to Grays Town Park!

Keep your eyes peeled as we make our way down Grays High Street, past Thameside Theatre and on to our Friends of Grays Town Park. Give us a wave OR join the parade!

Parade is leaving Grays Beach Field at 6:15pm and arriving at Grays Town Park for aprox. 7pm where the event will continue on!

* Residents and surrounding houses and businesses have been notified.

We are super happy to announce that we will have DRUNK & HUNGRY playing LIVE at Kilverts Field from 4:30pm, to soundtrack mini-lantern making and gathering for the parade.

We cannot wait. It is full systems GO at the studio today.
Lanterns are out and being spruced up AND our space on the 2nd floor of the Thameside Complex is ready for any drop-ins wanting to make lanterns ready for tomorrow's parade.

Please take a moment to check out the nearest car parks to our two event points for Light Up Thurrock this Friday: Kilverts Field, Grays Beach & Grays Town Park.

Be a good sport and steer clear of residential parking areas and use those local car parks. Plan your movements with the info below...

The Lantern Parade leaves Kilverts Field at 6:15pm and will be heading to Grays Town Park on foot via the High Street using a mix of footpaths and road-walking where possible in accordance to our road closures.

NOTE: Some carparks require no payment after 6pm however, if they do, some car parks may only take card payment.

Meet Arts Outburst & Official South Essex College at Kilverts Field anytime from 4:30pm to enjoy some pre-event entertainment and activity before the parade! 💡6PM: JOIN OUR LANTERN PARADE Join Arts Outburst, Light Up Brass Band - MisLED and Same Sky with their incredible lanterns at Kilverts Field for 6pm. * The parade will depart at 6:15pm. MisLED will lead the parade via Grays High Street, past the Thameside Theatre and on to Grays Town Park where the event will continue... Anyone is welcome to join the parade, dress up nice ‘n bright and to bring along lanterns, the fairy lights, torches - the lot! Staff and volunteers will marshall the route. The team will be present from 4:30pm > 7:30pm with, light art installations by Arc Sound Audio and Connor Turansky, performances by Infinity Circus and lantern making workshops with the Arts Outburst staff. LUT23: Parade Details, Road Closures, Getting Here

Light Up Purfleet-on-Thames - Fri 17th March 💡 - Lantern Parade Details Meeting @ Harris Academy 5:30pm Parade starting @ 6:15pm, heading for High House Production Park - Parade Route Following London Road, LEFT onto Coniston Avenue, LEFT onto Windermere Avenue into High House Production Park. - Road Closures London Road between Harris Academy and Coniston Avenue will be closed in both directions between 6-7pm. Roads affected: Beacon Hill, Linnet Way, Oakhill Road. Botany Way still has access in/out from its RIGHT. Coniston Avenue still has access in/out from its LEFT. - Getting Here The Lower Carpark is the only public parking at High House on Friday, accessible by HHPP main entrance on London Road. If this is full, CarpetRight will be acting as the overflow car park, accessible via the A1090. Purfleet-on-Thames is the nearest train station. Check C2C for service times. The number 44 bus can transport you from Grays to Purfleet and is ideal for either HHPP or the Parade Meeting Point. Be sure to arrive prior to 6pm to avoid any disturbance from the road closures. Light Up Purfleet-on-Thames - Fri 17th March 💡 Lets talk Lantern Parade route... We will be meeting at Harris Academy Riverside from 5:30pm. The parade will set off at 6:15pm for along London Road, taking a left onto Coniston Avenue, keeping left onto Windermere Avenue and arriving at High House Production Park to continue the event. * The parade will be professionally led, with marshals on route. For the most part the parade will be within road closures, when we are out of said areas we will be sticking strictly to paved areas. Remember those lanterns!
