I'm a home studio florist located in the village of Seaton in West Cumbria.

This morning, I had the privilege of making and laying a memorial wreath on behalf of the Police Memorial Trust for my former colleague, Constable Bill Barker.
Fifteen years ago, Bill, a traffic officer in West Cumbria, lost his life aged 44 years when he was swept to his death from a collapsing bridge in Workington during the devastating floods of 2009.He left behind a much loved wife and four children.
We remember his sacrifice and pay tribute to him today.

Happiness just radiated from gorgeous Natalie as she married Jack last month. After weeks of ropey weather, the sun got back into operation and gave them the most perfect hot September's day.
Jack's from a local farming family, so the service at picturesque Borrowdale Church was an important part of their day followed by celebrations at Armathwaite Hall.

Beautiful photography from really captured the magic of the event.

A little early-bird glimpse of Chantelle and Matt's glamorous black-tie Aussie/Cumbrian wedding back in August at The Inn on the Lake, Ullswater.
The weather was the familiar mixed bag, but the smiles seem to have more than made up for it.

One of the downsides of ordering flowers from wholesale websites is that colours can vary quite a lot from their online descriptions. I bought these imported ranunculus last weekend for a white colour palette wedding. They were described as white, and to a grower, they possibly are, but in reality, they're blush, so they were unusable for the bride's bouquet, and there was no time to source more.

On the upside, I get to look at a lovely bunch of flowers on my mantle this week, but the real point of the post is that this is why florists won't always guarantee certain varieties and colours for wedding arrangements.

We order extra stems to account for damaged or unusable blooms (which is inevitable), and this is one of the many unseen contributing factors as to why wedding florals can seem expensive.
