How great is this group shot from M&A’s summer wedding
I loved flowering this one, they were the best couple 💕 and we had such a lovely morning to set up, listening to the sheep in the field and taking some time to look at the pretty planting in the summer borders.

Warm summery colours for an autumn day 🍂
Those zinnias are the stars of the show, I love the golden, buttery yellow so much 👌
Grown outside in the UK, the plants are tall and strong - I can’t wait to grow even more next year.

Hmm, I’m nervous to go and check the rain damage this morning - it was LOUD last night 🌧️
Wondering.. how did others fare?
What a season - the hardest one to date, all the weather seemed to come at the wrong time, especially early on in the year and now when the plants are finally putting on a good show it seems autumn has decided to come at us hard!

I know it’s not unusual to have rain in September but it’s cold and dark too, and it’s more the fact that the swing between the weather is so extreme - in the middle of all the damp gloom we can have one sunny day where the sun is so strong it causes high levels of humidity and creates conditions where disease and pests thrive.
We then go back to cold night temps and low light levels and the plants don’t know whether they’re coming or going. The seed is wet and hard to harvest. Flower heads are ruined by hail and excessive rain.

It’s been like this all year and although I have managed to grow lots of beautiful flowers, it was hardly the bumper season I was hoping for and there were a lot of fails.

All this to say: I’m glad the season is nearly over and I’m looking forward to trying to adapt and do better next year.
I don’t think these unpredictable weather patterns will ease up, I think it’s just the way of things now.. which is scary and sad.. but that’s a whole other conversation.

For now the focus is on learning and selecting varieties that will hold up well, honing planting schedules and improving the soil health as much as possible.

Bring on 2025. Good riddance 2024.

The bulk of the subscription flowers finished last week, I hope people have enjoyed them.
There are still the ‘entire season’ subscriptions going out and a few summer ones yet to wind up.
This has felt like such a short/quick season, how does time fly so fast… ? 🌸🍁
Thanks so much to each and every one of you who indulged in a flower subscription this year, I really appreciate your orders, you keep my small business going ❤️
