AWARD-WINNING florist Kaye Souter’s love affair with flowers began very early in her life.
After leaving school, Kaye started work as a florist, taking professional qualifications in floristry and business studies at Otley College, while getting to know the trade working at Clovers in Ipswich, and later at Paul Norman’s in Woodbridge. Followed by further study and attainment of the Intermediate & National Diploma of the Society of Floristry and being Awarded the Fellowship of The Society of Floristry.
It was 24 years ago this November though, that Kaye finally realised her dream and set-up her own freelance business, bringing her passion for fresh, beautiful flowers and foliage to the wedding market and beyond.
Along the way she’s picked up many accolades, representing the UK in Europe, having two stints with the Society of Floristry at the Chelsea Flower Show, demonstrating at The NEC Birmingham & being named one of the top 25 florists in the UK.
Indeed, on the wedding circuit in Suffolk, Kaye’s name is one that pops up time and time again if you ask someone for a recommendation.
As well as achieving new clients from word of mouth, Kaye meets a lot of her brides and grooms at wedding fairs, with her first step being to hand out a price list giving couples a rough idea of how much their flowers are likely to cost.
Bookings are confirmed with a £200 deposit and with an initial consultation roughly 12 to 18 months before your wedding day. Kaye likes to talk through the colours you like, any themes running through your day, your dress style – anything to give her inspiration for your arrangements.
To get you started, Kaye will also show you slideshows from her portfolio for an idea not only of what flowers you like, but what flowers you don’t like.
All the flowers used by Kaye are delivered to order from a reputable wholesaler and come to her Workshop & studio, in leafy Rushmere St Andrew, only a day or two before each wedding so they are at the peak of fr
