Coronavirus and its legacy has brought into sharp focus the economic impact of health and wellbeing to everyone in business and society. It has also acted as a catalyst to accelerate the development and application of digital technologies to mitigate the effects of ill health in general and pandemics in particular. Online meetings and webinars have helped to not only act as a preventative healthcare measure but also, in many cases, improve the work/life balance and employee cost burdens for travel.

Employers now have an opportunity to use different digital technologies for competitive advantage and profitable corporate social responsibility by exploring the potential of lifestyle medicine and digital health and wellbeing technologies.

This expert panel brings together thought leaders in the field of lifestyle medicine and digital health and wellbeing for preventative healthcare to discuss how these strategies can lead to improved employee health, productivity, staff retention and employer brand reputation.

The topics to be covered in this discussion include :-

• What is lifestyle medicine?
• What are the key influencers for healthy physical and mental health?
• How can organisations support employees’ lifestyle behaviours and resources?
• How can remote care technologies support personal health management?
• How can digital health and wellbeing technologies improve staff welfare?
• What impact can these strategies have on performance and profitability?

Our speakers will share their thoughts on these topics and what are the next likely developments. To join the discussion, add your questions and comments in your chat facility.

Life is a wonderful journey which is different for every human being. Although we know the starting point and end point of life’s journey and can anticipate milestones along the way such as school, adolescence, sickness, work, family and old age, we cannot anticipate how long, easy or hard life’s journey will be.

We are not born into the world with equal circumstances. Our genetic profiles, location and social and economic circumstances will influence the availability of routes, length and quality of life’s journey.

This broadcast examines the potential of wearable technologies and mobile applications to guide us to a healthier, longer and more enjoyable life journey. You are invited to join in the discussion

For thousands of years place and identity have been influential factors in shaping our social, economic and environmental futures. The last 50 years have seen the advent of mass communications, both electronic and physical, triggering the phenomenon of globalisation and transforming the mobility of people and ideas. This in turn has had an impact on the importance of place in shaping our lives. Communities which were once the hub of our relationships have been fragmented and amalgamated within a more global society. During this time, we have gained unprecedented and almost on demand access to the whole world through travel and digital communications technologies.

The Impact of Coronavirus

In the space of less than 6 months, the on-demand access to social and economic mobility and transport has suddenly been removed and, across the whole globe, the lives that the majority of the planet’s population had come to accept as normal, have been almost instantaneously changed. In this “New Normal” environment, it seems likely that, once again, our lives will become shaped by place and identity. Where we live and the community we live in may shape our social, economic and environmental futures.

The crucial difference between today and when globalisation began to have an impact on society around 50 years ago is that we now have digital technologies which give us access not only to a view of anywhere in the world, but also the means to communicate with and influence what happens anywhere in the world. This expert panel webinar brings together international experience of geoinformatics and an understanding of the changing role of place and identity in shaping social, economic and environmental futures.

The panel discussed what the future holds for humanity in this new normal and the likely impact of rapidly evolving digital technologies on all our futures.

Is this a golden one-time opportunity to build a sustainable future or does it signal the end of humanity?

The workshop will look at the challenge of designing and developing a game to have a positive impact on the Coronavirus situation and in the process will explore some of the tools available today and how they can use a combination of gamification and immersion to influence understanding and behaviour.
The current Coronavirus situation has fast-tracked the use of virtual learning environments to engage and teach learners outside the traditional physical classroom environment which means that understanding how to create truly engaging and immersive learner experiences based on technology is critically important.
What the Webinar Masterclass will Cover
• Gamification theory and practice as applied to Learning and Behaviour Change
• The challenge of gamifying coronavirus
• The importance and meaning of immersive experiences
• How to combine gamification and immersive technologies
• How to re-purpose existing learning content within gamified immersive experiences
• Transitioning from Teaching via Exploring to Learning and Assessment
• Gamified Learning and “The Flipped Classroom”
This webinar masterclass will illustrate examples of how a combination of Gamification, 360 degree immersive images and videos and interactive virtual tour applications can engage learners and improve the effectiveness of learning experiences. It will demonstrate the use of these technologies for staff training, local history virtual tours, digital storytelling and learner assessment.
The webinar will be hosted by David Wortley, former Founding Director of the Serious Games Institute and currently CEO & Founder of 360in360 Immersive Experiences, Vice President of the International Society of Digital Medicine (ISDM) and Virtual Conferences Director of IORMA Global Consumer Commerce Centre.
Participants will learn how to create gamified interactive and/or guided learning experiences using readily available consumer hardware and software.

The thousands of people dying every day from Coronavirus dominates the headlines as public health services battle to save as many lives as possible. The massive and understandable focus on fighting this terrible disease masks the physical and mental health backlash that is likely to occur as fallout from the measures being put in place to prevent the spread of the disease.

Many millions of people are now confined to their homes and are denied the interaction with friends, family and business colleagues that have always been a part of everyday life. This, coupled with loss of income and livelihoods and the uncertainty of the future has the potential to create an even bigger public physical and mental health problem for those who do not contract or survive the Coronavirus. In addition, the continuous physical and mental daily stress imposed on our care workers and clinicians in the health sector is also likely to create a massive toll on society.

This ISDM webinar aims to discuss ways in which digital technologies can mitigate the impact of Coronavirus on the physical and mental health of citizens during the current crisis and afterwards when society tries to recover from a devastating blow to human life.

Panellists with recognised expertise in the use of digital technologies as a physical and mental health therapy are being invited to share their expertise in the form of video interviews, a webinar and a virtual conference focusing on knowledge sharing and networking.

This webinar and virtual conference is part of a series of such digital medicine events that we hope will help to mitigate some of the problems we face both now and in the future
