We had a lovely letter from Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal thanking us for the £500 donation after the Carols in the Barn, so I thought I’d share it with you. We also had a thank you email from Devon in Sight, expressing their gratitude.

Thanks again everyone for joining us and celebrating Christmas together.

Dear Celia,

It was wonderful to receive your donation of £500 via The Grand Appeal website. It was so kind of you to fundraise for us at the Carols in the Barn evening; I hope the event went well and put everyone in the festive spirit! As a small token of our appreciation, I’ve attached a certificate which you can share with all the lovely people who donated to The Grand Appeal.

Sadly, even at this festive time of year, families from across the South West will need the life-saving care provided at Bristol Children’s Hospital. We strive to make every Christmas the best it can be for patients, families and staff in the children’s hospital, and this year will be no different. The hospital will Shine Bright with Gromit Unleashed characters; wards will be adorned with festive decorations and presents will be gifted to children spending Christmas in hospital and we’ll make sure that no one misses a visit from Santa!

A full-on festive arts programme will also be provided for patients and their families to ease the stresses of being in hospital. This will include a selection of games, Christmas craft packs, and specially created music films to keep everyone entertained. All thanks to you.

The proceeds from CitB23 have been paid out, together we made over £1000 for charity that night.

£200 + made by Northlew PTFA on the night

Celia, Nigel rehearsals??? Oh my goodness!! We’d best start planning!!

Today started with an Entertainingly Different visit to Newport Community School Primary Academy where after a short storytelling session with the two Year Two classes Rob Pudner spent the rest of the morning facilitating a dramatic workshop for the two Year Three classes on the theme of the Stone Age.
This afternoon he paid his fortnightly visit to The Northam Care Trust (Rose Hill) where amongst other things he provided much entertainment and amusement with an old motor car horn "p**p p**p! ".
Finally he joined Tamsin Ball for a little singing rehearsal ahead of their festive engagements at The Party Barn and The Manor & Ashbury Resorts.

Less than 3 weeks until this years Carols in the Barn… remember this is entirely for charity and having a reasonable idea of numbers really helps with planning food and drink and other ‘Christmassy’ things 😉. So PLEASE get your tickets in advance 😊

We have a Relaxed/Autism Friendly Screening of The Super Mario Bros. Movie this Sunday! These relaxed screenings are designed to make the cinema more accessible.

At last we have a DISCO BALL to swing beautifully in the party barn! Just in time for the first of our 2023 events!!

Happy New Year to all our friends who have partied in the barn with us during 2022.

Nigel and I are always humbled by how well everyone supports the events we’ve had and how with the help of our amazing family (especially Mother) and a few good friends we can have a really good time in an old cow shed!

This year we’ve had birthday parties, Kyra, Ben & Toby and Sharon, as well as lots of drink Beer and talk bo****ks, (sorry bullocks, bloody auto spell 😳) and of course the big tickety things…. The Skimmity Hitchers raised the roof with their cider drinking mayhem in May, The Dartmoor Pixie Band got us all up jigging about in October and then December saw The Hummingbirds, Northlew Silver Band, Northlew Primary School and Rob Pudner of Entertainingly Different help us raise between us all, well over £1200 at the Carols in the Barn.

The CitB event saw the following charitable donations:-
•£200 Okehampton Food Bank via Future Bodies Gym Christmas Fundraiser
•£200 Hatherleigh Silver Band
•£200 Everything Okehampton for the Christmas lights
•£200 Dartmoor Railway Association towards maintenance and upkeep at Okehampton station.

In addition:-
Northlew Parish Council raised £300 +
Northlew Primary PTFA raised £150+
Northlew Toddler group raised funds too

We also must thank our friends and colleagues who help run these events. Especially the Dartmoor Bars crew and the Square Shop Northlew 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We thoroughly enjoy planning these events and will be holding more this year….. if you have an event that benefits our community somehow, and fancy holding an event here, let us know…. we’re more than happy to let it be used!

Rumour has it that a certain cider drinking crew will be back before King Charles gets crowned….. 😉

Nice to see Rob honing his skills before our Carols in the Barn event on December 3rd 🤹🏻🧑🏻‍🎄🥰

Over the next few days we will be sharing details of our forthcoming festive frolics starting with some seasonal shenanigans at Taunton's WinterFest which takes place this Sunday from 10.00am.
Family fun and Entertainingly Different antics are pretty much guaranteed when Rob Pudner takes to the Tone FM Stage at various points throughout the day to act as compère in his inimitable style; including a whole thirty minutes of interactive entertainment from 3.00pm.
He will also be popping up at various other locations around the town centre so keep your eyes peeled for his star suit and his Christmas hat of course!
