Mark Blatchly - Organ & Piano. Mark has taught music (and some English) at Charterhouse school for more than 20 years. He also directed the choirs and the orchestra, and for ten years was housemaster to 70+ boys & girls. A composer of choral music and an organist, he has held posts at St Paul's, Oxford, St Marylebone and Gloucester. He has been an inspiration to many of his students over the years. 🎄🎄

Revealing another of our talented acts for The Spirit of Christmas Virtual Concert 2021 on the 19th December, we are pleased to introduce:

Arun Silva - Voice & Organ. Arun graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music, followed by an MSc in Management from the University of Kent. He trained on the music scholar’s programme at Charterhouse, and has performed widely as a soloist and with several choirs, including the University of Kent choir. He is a founder member of the a Capella group Pitch Slapped and formed the KSL Music Collective in 2020 to bring music to audiences online during lockdown. Arun is an active volunteer on the board of a non-profit foundation in Sri Lanka and fundraises for charitable causes. He enjoys creative collaborations with other musicians, producing and performing in several public concerts and is the founder of Silva Media - a digital media and events agency. Arun is currently employed full time as a Digital Marketing Executive with an international firm. 🎄🎄

Sue Lovell - Voice. Sue graduated in Popular Music from the University of Kent, Medway. She is a Therapeutic Music Practitioner and singer-songwriter, running singing for wellbeing groups via Zoom and in person, two of which she founded during the pandemic. Sue also makes ‘virtual choir’ videos for local charities and co-leads Hospice in the Weald Community Choir.🎄🎄

Simon Denton - Guitar & Voice. Simon started playing the guitar at the age of 14 and hasn’t stopped since. He loves both listening to and playing music and the processes behind recording and producing. He has played in several bands over the years and during a wonderful time playing in a band in Brighton in the 1970s. Since retiring I have continued to play, write and record music and also volunteer as a performing musician at the Hospice In The Weald in Pembury. 🎄🎄

Paddock Wood Community Voices - Paddock Wood’s first choir rehearsal was held via Zoom in April 2020, making history as part of the Sing Together project during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Paddock Wood Community Voices group was founded by Sue Lovell in January 2021, singing for joy and wellbeing on Zoom during lockdown. In Summer 2021 the choir began hybrid sessions, singing as a group in person and online. In October they trialled their first ‘hybrid’ session at the Wesley Centre, Paddock Wood. Monday Music sessions are continuing and a Thursday Singathrong still meets via Zoom online. 🎄🎄

Revealing another of our talented acts for The Spirit of Christmas Virtual Concert 2021 on the 19th December, we are pleased to introduce:

Angus - a high baritone solo singer. He has sung at many interesting venues. The highlight for him was Windsor Castle for the Queen on her 80th birthday. He studied Performing Arts at the then newly founded Orpheus Centre in 1997. He is part of the Orpheus Alumni, made up of former students from the Orpheus Centre; their purpose is to entertain and promote The Orpheus Centre’s vision of performance opportunities for all, whether able or disabled. He also sings currently with the Paddock Wood Choral Society and the Kentish Opera. He has his own CD and is currently working on song writing. He plans to perform some of his own works in the future.🎄🎄

George Prentis - Piano & Bagpipes. George enjoys composing and performing music. He has performed bagpipes for events hosted by the Mayor of Windsor and the Queen. When not playing or composing music he can be found doing an in-school PGCE and enjoying weekly games of badminton and pub visits with friends. He is an alumnus of the University of Warwick. 🎄🎄

We were called out this weekend on Friday for Sunday to fix the wonderful 8 speaker and 2 subwoofer high tech AV system in the state of the art The Deep End. Our founder Arun Silva studied here for 4 years and had become know as ‘Mr Medway’ for his love for the Medway campus and the community.

We managed to fixed the full system in time for freshers week so that they can ramp up the music and have a party!! We also rebalanced the system to make it sound super sweet and are in the process of putting some how to guides together for the management to follow 😊

Yesterday we went back to where our founder Arun Silva studied for 4 years on the University of Kent Medway Campus. We went to pick up some of our equipment we used to use to support events GKSU’s The Deep End bar. We also did a full sound system and lighting check as there were some issues reported. All was rectified with the 8 speaker Martin Audio Ltd system. We also got to catch up with Arun’s old colleagues as well. Arun used to manage the state of the art system on a day to day basis and supported all events that took place at the Student Hub and on the Medway Campus. There is a sneak peek at what events used to look like at The Deep End in the Student Hub before COVID-19 hit.
