Behind this bucket of flowers is a lovely new connection I've made. I stumbled across a wonderful front garden full of an incredible amount of plants for sale with an honesty box. I figured that with that many plants for sale, then the actual garden at the back must be pretty spectacular. So, I popped a note through the door and enquired whether they would be interested in supplying me with the occasional bucket of flowers. A lovely lady called me straight away and said she'd love to, we came to a payment agreement and voila! this is the first result

Honestly, I know it's a little forward and takes you out of your comfort zone. But if you are a small scale florist like me passionate about local flowers but unable to supple all of your own, or not always able to afford the minimum amount from flower farms to have delivered, then step outside the box and just ask gardeners, this is just one of a lovely little network that's grown up in an organic way through just reaching out to local people, the nicest thing about is people generally love to help and delight in seeing their flowers being used in a wedding bouquet or suchlike.

Win win 🌱

Thought Nell deserved a square. She's always at my side when I'm working. I do little bits of training with her to keep her entertained throughout the day. Nothing fancy. She just has to bring me the things I name, then if she gets it right, she gets a treat.

She's always needs a job to do and constant reassurance. Bit like me 😅

Get under your skin, don't they.

I'm on my holidays tomorrow and I can't wait. Thought I'd leave a square of prettiness the grid. Go easy on yourselves, people. It's a concrete jungle out there.

Just found this post from a couple of years back... made me feel optimistic about my tiny new flower wall in our new house.....

"Its abit on the bonkers side, not to mention completely impractical being in the living room, but we've been trying to work out how to store my dried flowers for a while, they've been shoved in boxes and random places - and this seemed the best solution re- limited space. We reluctantly got rid of the shabby (but beloved) red leather chair which was held together with nothing more than gorilla tape...not even the dog would sit on it... and made this flower wall.

The trouble is, now I don't want to use them. I just want to look at them, and that's not really the point as they are meant to be stock...

Ahh, well, just the excuse to have more!

If dahlias be the flower of love - then grow on! Or something like that 😀

I was worried that I might have fallen out of love with dried flowers. Working with them is one thing, but I realise it's the process of drying that I'll always love. Watching how a flower transforms from fresh to dry, it becomes unrecognisable and completely detached from its former fresh self. But in no way lesser.

This little lot was a self-indulgence... Every year, I start a dried flower wall in our living room. It begins in April with ranunculus and then gets added to with leftover bits and pieces until late summer when the dahlias get into their stride, and then it really starts taking shape. I absolutely love the process of creating it. It's a haphazard and very 'non precious' method, but as more and more materials are added, it seems to take in its own form and it gives me so much pleasure to sit beneath on winter evenings looking up at all its weird and wonderful forms. And reminding me of the joy and wonder that comes from growing.

Blackberries, sweet peas on the vine, sumptious English roses, dahlias, and silk velvet ribbons for yesterday's wonderful bride, Lizzie.

I can't tell you how much I loved this palette, Nature provides so much texture and scent in the hedgerows at this time of year. I always try to make the most of it and blend with the flowers. Here's some of the elements I foraged and included throughout this wedding:

White ladies bedstraw, scent of honey

Teasels, with their tiny lilac flowers

Wild carrot, my favourite wild flower 😍

Blackberries

Beech, ivy, and ferns

I can't wait to share more with you from this one 🌱

100% biodegradable at the site, made with string, moss, cardboard, living plants and cut flowers. I certainly think it's the way things are going with funeral tributes these days. There are so many good alternatives coming forward that help florists to move away from foam and plastics.

It's about time that I said hello 👋
So, ello! This is my boat race, and I'm Tasha.
Wedding Florist, Mum, Spaniel owner, and lover of tea, blankets, and fairy lights. In that order.

I've been trying to think of things to write for that silly thing folk do for these kinds of posts, you know - the ones where you give 10 'Fun ( ahem cringe ) facts' about yourself. The trouble is, I kind of peaked on the first one I did a couple of years ago, and now I genuinely cannot think of anything vaguely interesting about me worth sharing 😂 and the only things that do spring to mind are a bit on the dark side, which clearly will not do. So, I'll keep it light and stick to some completely random facts. Well done if you reach the end without falling asleep.

Seriously, scapping the barrel on these 😂

Here goes.

1. I used to clean Sir Patrick Moores trousers.

2. I haven't been to the hairdressers in 9 years. (No s**t sherlock I hear you cry)

3. I was born without holes in my nose and had 19 operations as a baby.

4. I've lived in 12 different places, including a hostel.

5. I am highly suspicious of anyone who can walk past a skip without looking in. Even slyly , like a sidewards glance trying to look natural.

6. I was 24 before I plucked up the courage to go in a butcher's Can't stand the smell...!

7. I've been yoyo dieting since 1994.
Yes - metabolism shot to pieces and not proud 😬

8. I smoked for 17 years. I'm glad I gave up, but I still miss it and think I always will.

9. My Xpower is song lyrics. Although I have occasionally gotten them wrong and discovered I've been singing ( for instance, Del Amitri- Nothing ever happens...)..."and secretary's turn off typewriters and put on their clothes..."

10. I really like NOT being in my twenties or thirties anymore, finally I can be honest and say that all I really want to do on a Friday night is cosy up in a blanket with my family, gardeners world and a wispa, and maybe a packet of crisps if I'm feeling flash. All that clubbing, hangovers, and worrying what people think of me. Eughh. Thank god I don't have to pretend anymore. I am seriously so boring 😄

This growing season, I am working on a flower farm. You might have seen in my stories regular pics of . I have to say I am finding it an absolute joy and very fulfilling in more ways than one, A, I get to have a hand in the growing of the flowers that end up in lots of my work, and B, I get to work with like minded people,  I work just one day a week so I can still run my own business alongside, and I have to say  although I have been growing my own flowers for a few years and been a florist for literally ever, it shines a pinpoint light on the true cost of each stem, and how labour intensive flower farming actually is.

From the planning, to the sowing , to the pricking out and potting on, from the feeding ( oh the feeding! ) and that's before you even think about preparing beds and planting out and looking after the plants. So the cutting of a bucket of stems for a florist to collect is the absolute cherry on the cake that has taken ages to bake and been fussed over for months (Oooh pleased that I have managed to squeeze a cake metaphor in to this very non cakey post)

Many florists and flower lovers alike have no interested in the growing side of things - and that's fine as we are all different  - but somehow I wish there were some kind of  'speeded up documented version of the journey' that their flowers have been on from 'seed to bloom'  so that the completed cycle and the true cost could be be fully celebrated.

For Jess, who married Sam today.
Congratulations ! 💙

Jess gave me a wonderfully summery brief of soft pastels with a pop of yellow.

Locally grown hand-picked flowers made up most of the blooms and the aisle was adorned with wild meadow boxes.

The scent on these garden roses...

“The garden is one of the two great metaphors for humanity.
The garden is about life and beauty and the impermanence of all living things.
The garden is about feeding your children, providing food for the tribe.
It’s part of an urgent territorial drive that we can probably trace back to animals storing food.
It’s a competitive display mechanism, like having a prize bull, this greed for the best tomatoes and English tea roses.
It’s about winning; about providing society with superior things; and about proving that you have taste and good values, and you work hard.
And what a wonderful relief, every so often, to know who the enemy is.
Because in the garden, the enemy is everything: the aphids, the weather, time.
And so you pour yourself into it, care so much, and see up close so much birth, and growth, and beauty, and danger, and triumph.
And then everything dies anyway, right?
But you just keep doing it.”

Joy 💛

That was the simple brief for this beautiful wedding. And wow, did I enjoy working with these colours.

The phrase ' no filter required ' is used too much, don't you think? But absolutely appropriate here.

The groom wore it against a pale suit, and it looked perfect. The Bride was already stunning as she was, so I can't wait to see the pictures of her with a rainbow of a bouquet ( I didn't get any decent pics of her bouquet which I'm devastated about 😫)

But you need to see the cake! Head here for one talented lady and an incredible interpretation of the couples' vision.

Thought this deserved a square ❤️💙💛

A sneek peek at the most joyful of palettes I'm working on for this weekend's wedding.

These colours are so up my street! I picked most of these myself as the couple wanted to celebrate locally grown. They seem to make you happy just looking at them, don't they?

Congratulations, E and M, who tied the knot today and will celebrate tomorrow in a gorgeous country pub surrounded by their loved ones.

Have a lovely evening everyone! 🌈

Nothing much to write about , I documented my day in my stories, so apologies for the dreadful voice over- I was just having such a nice day that I thought I'd share it. I'm so lucky to call this my job , genuinely mean that Life is blimin hard at times, isn't it? The older I get, the more I just think you've got to take the small wins. I'm all for that these days. Like good fringe days, I'll take those. Or, a bloody nice sandwich that you really concentrate on and enjoy every bite. Yes please to those. Life blindsides you so fast. Just enjoy your sandwich 🌱

Anyone got any small wins.....?.💕

I am so incredibly proud to be a member of the wonderful organisation, which is today.

They were specifically chosen by our new King to come together as a collective that they are, and provide the flowers that would adorn the entire ceremony.

From all corners of the country, flower farmers have been tasked to travel far and wide to bring their beautiful, naturally grown blooms to Westminster.

How wonderful that British flowers have played such a part of this incredible day 🌱

I bumped into a friend of mine on the school run last week. She commented on how I don't post much on Instagram these days. Why is that she asked? Is it a conscious decision?

It got me thinking, and I've pondered on it until now. I used to post neatly every day, and I guess the easiest answer would be that I have become disillusioned with it. The fast , tictok style in your face reels that Instagram prioritise, are just not my thing. I love a still image. And it's what made me set up an account in the first place. The trouble is this: For people like me who have built their entire businesses upon this platform, the shouty fast-paced intrusive reels get seen before ours. Our followers no longer see our posts in a time sensitive flow through their feed. Hashings don't work, and I don't understand algorithms (Lord knows I don't wish to)

How about an Instagram classic site? So the folk who love simple restful pictures can bypass all the screaming me me me people and go straight to the content they joined for in the first place.

Of course, I'm a hypocrite. I will do reels because if I don't tow the line, then I risk hurting my own business.

I'd love to know your thoughts, Instagram classic anyone? 😃 ( If you've even seen this post, ha ha )

Last week, I co-hosted a Living wreath workshop. It was so wonderful to see how given the same ingredients, such different outcomes, were created.
It's so easy as a florist to get a bit stuck in a style that you feel comfortable with. But these ladies' interpretation of the brief inspired me to think out of the usual floristry box, so while teaching, I made this inspired by them.

It reminded me of when a million years I went to college, and even though I was only 28 at the time, compared to the school leavers on the course, I was ancient 😅 I had already been working in a high street florist for a couple of years when I enrolled, learning on the job had many benefits, and I had technical skills under my belt that they had yet to learn, but creativily wise they were lightyears ahead of me - they had no expectations of themselves and had full creative freedom, where as I had already set myself up within the rules and boundaries of the then, floristry world. As lovely as the tutors were, I learned so much more from those 16 /17 year old students than I did from them. They taught me to step outside the box. There was some unbelievable talent in that room, I often wonder where they ended up and what they are doing now.

You never stop learning, do you ?! 🌱

We had fun with this flower crown 😆
(Swipe left)
It cost me a double tournament of Mario karts past bedtime and a piggy back down a muddy garden, then I over thought it and worried that the pictures might surface in years to come and Stanley's friends would have a fine time with them 🤔 🙈 The trouble is when you've only got an unwilling spaniel and an 8 year old alpha male to choose from, you end up sticking it on yourself. Steven would do most things for Dolphin but drew the line at a flower crown.
Fair enough, right?! 👌

Turns out I like anenomes. A LOT 😆

In a sea of flowers this was my favourite one, I have spammed the hell out of this weekend's flowers ( stories say it all !)

Thank you thank you lovely people who have ordered from me, Its been the best year ever and I can truly say I have enjoyed making each and every bouquet.
Mostly down to the incredible flowers; Some local that I picked myself, some beauties from the Netherlands and some cornish. Oh and not forgetting a good dose of foraging in true Dolphin styleee 💙

Spent a lovely few hours in the studio today working on meadow boxes. Spring feels just round the corner now ( despite the snow ) which I'm very jealous about by the way - I have to say there's not many negatives to living on the south coast and indeed we are very lucky - but one downside is that we very rarely get snow! And we do love a bit of snow. Despite trying to keep all the seedlings safe 🌱

This man of mine has a good reason to smile this year. He spent 'Mothers days' in 2021 and 2022 in hospital having new hips and in deep frustration that he wasn't able to help out with all the deliveries, BUT this year he's ran out of old hips to replace so he's back and raring to go!

Very much looking forward to him being the lovely face that greets all of my wonderful customers next sunday with beautiful flowers. There is still time to order for your Mum, only a select amount of orders will be taken this year as interflora I aint...😁🌱

Mothers day is on March 19th

Sooo if you know you would like some.....please DM or call me asap me as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. I really hate letting people down!

Ok, so I know I wasnt' supposed to be doing Valentines... but a few little orders snuck through ❤ The tulips made me do it!! Avant Garde scented ones here, aren't they stunning?! Thank you you are truly the best.

Thank you for all the love on my last post, the comments were so very telling. So interesting reading all your viewpoints and I'm very glad I spoke my truth.

I had the most wonderful day sowing seeds in my little workshop, the cheese on Alexa was on full whack and I lost myself for a while imagining all those tiny little seeds blooming into flowers and being included in so many of my Bridal bouquets for 2023.

I can't wait - if you've booked me for your wedding this year - thank you!! 🙏

Eco Friendly Artisan Floristry

Hello I’m Tasha, thank you for visiting my page.

I have been a Florist for 15 years and run Dolphin Creek Flowers based in Emsworth, I am passionate about providing beautiful, scented flowers whilst having minimal impact on the environment. I source flowers as locally as possible from growers who share my ethos, whilst growing an ever wider range of my own flowers and foraging from my local area, incorporating each element into my designs, and working with the seasons. This approach lends my work to have an unstructured, naturlistic feel, with no two designs the same. Wherever possible, I use recycled and up-cycled containers for all my arrangements.

Dolphin Creek Flowers cater for all occasions, including gifts, weddings and funerals.
