West Country Gundogs is a not-for-profit informal group of enthusiasts whose aim is to promote Working Gundog Tests and activities at country fairs and at locations in the West Country. They do this for the interest and enjoyment of the gundog community. After the expenses of promoting events have been taken into account, residual surplus monies will be donated to charity. Informal, simple straight-forward friendly competition, a stage beyond traditional show scurries providing real gundog test scenarios. Here for working gundogs and their owners of all ages and experience – juniors to seniors, novice never-done-it-before to seasoned owners and gundogs. Open classification i.e. anyone and any gundog can enter (yes even sprockers et al may enter). Turn up on the day to enter. 5 Chocolate Labrador puppies are now available for sale - two boys, three girls. Born and raised in a busy family home with two young children and other dogs. The pup’s mother is a family pet with a great temperament, good with people and other animals. Both parents are KC registered and hip and elbow scored. AMMERDOWN AV NOVICE AND PUPPY SPANIEL TEST 2022
🐾 With just one week left just a quick update to ask that everyone that have entered so far please make sure we have your dogs details and that we still have a couple of places left 😊
This year theAmmerdown test will take place on Sunday 20th March on the Ammerdown estate nr Radstock.
The test well be set for first time testers, novice dog/handler judged by patient judges and is an excellent introduction to working test. The test is not a Kc test but run on long the guidelines of a Kc test. This year we are also running a puppy test open to dogs under 18months of age.

A 12 to 18 month old Springer Spaniel is sought following unfortunate loss of a dog. Wonderful owner, retired person, who picks-up, pigeon shoots, wildfowler, fisherman and much else - dream owner for this dog. Bitch preferred, either colour. Some basics of training required sufficient for this dog to be brought on in an active and varied working life.

We have so many people to say thank you to, our helpers and judges are second to none for their willingness to help and sometimes multitask too!
Our catering was brilliant and kept us fed all weekend. Our competitors were all marvellous too, braving the weather which swept across us in drenching showers.

The time is approaching where we ask for your help to put on our fun event at Bowood House. The weekend of 28/29th September for the diary.
We would love to see old friends and also any new faces who would like to join us.
As ever we need people for booking-in, stewarding, dummy throwing etc no prior experience required.

Bowood 2018 was often wet and windy with dark grey skies, but when the sun did shine through it was glorious, it's a lovely setting for the West Country Gundog Tests betwixt the house and the lake.
We had such fun running the weekend with nearly 100 entrants over the two days, we could not have done this without our fantastic team of volunteers.

Thank you so much to all of our Saturday helpers who braved the very damp conditions with such good humour and stamina. We were all sustained by our great catering team, steaming hot drinks and soup being the order of the day with fantastic cakes from Truffleicious.
