Year 1
Our first client was Alexander Burnett now MSP, 10 years ago it was the beginning of his political career. We were tasked with managing a series of meet and greet social events at various fabulous venues.

As the autumn rolled around we were busy with Alexanders on going events and also facilitating a corporate clay shooting event at the wonderful Raemoir House, it was at this point still a hotel.

Having tried clay shooting once at a chums farm I loved it. When I investigated if I could go with a few friends to a really lovely place to clay shoot and have a delicious lunch I could not find anywhere in the area.

So that was the beginning of Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags, Scotland's Premier Ladies Clay Shooting Club. (Thank heavens Mark came up with that name, I couldn't get Cleavages and Cartridges out of my head! 🤣)

My aim was to develop the brand Glad Rags & Cartridge Bags into one that sat comfortably in partnership with quality, highly respected, renowned brands. On the 23rd of November 2014 the inaugural event took place.

⭐Venue - Raemoir House
⭐30 Ladies
⭐Sponsored by Orvis, Caledonian Cartridges, Jamieson and Carry, John Clark Motor Group
⭐Scottish Field Magazine sent a photographer and a reporter and they dedicated a full 6 pages feature to GR&CB's
⭐The second event was launched at the first, it sold out before the end of the day.

The next 6 weeks were like being on Concord, it just took off at record speed. The name, the development of the logo, securing sponsors, sourcing suitable future venues, marketing through all social media channels and press releases.

January Raemoir House, February Raemoir House, Gordon Castle in March. An April Pulls day back at Raemoir with May at the fabulous Gordon Castle. June saw us enjoy a family day at Kincardine Castle. The smalls were encouraged to come and learn a spot of casting on dry land curtesy of Orvis and an afternoon of making honeycomb with Kincardine Castle Kitchen.Vinny Burnett

oh my word how did that happen, yes Glad Rags Events is 10 years old, well actually 10 1/2 years - it's been a busy year 😂.

Away back at the beginning of 2014. I was really missing the world of events. With all 3 smalls away to school, I did have a little bit more time, but being a carer for my Mum I knew it would be tricky to work for anyone else.

Having had my own events business before, MAP55, I knew exactly what it took to launch and successful run a company.

So along with Julia we decided to take the plunge and JOMM EVENTS was launched in the summer of 2014. A few months in and Julia came to the decision that this path was not for her.

But with a series of events already successfully executed for clients and some more already in the planning, I knew that I was where I wanted to be, doing what I enjoyed and in a world I loved.

Over the next wee while I will share with you the evolution of that first year to where we are now.

Throw back to August of this year to the week long 8m World Cup Regatta event.
were our catering partners for the whole week.

8 Events over 7 days, 1060 covers, it was a fantastically mad week dealing with an international audience, tail end of a hurricane, last minute changes and curve balls from all directions.

But it was an amazing week to be a part of. Glad Rags Events were responsible for delivering all the land based events.
Civic Reception, Sailing Suppers, Owners dinner, Highland Games, Whisky Tasting, Seafood Extravaganza evening, Prize Giving Gala Ball.

Lazy Sundays team were all amazing, I through everything at them. Always last minute changes in numbers, in menu choices, seating arrangements.

Working together we produced a series of world class events, the feed back from the clients was fantastic.

When you have an event it is vitally important to bring on board suppliers that can exceed your expectations, who's attention to detail is second to none and who have the experience to deal with the inevitable curve balls.

Do get in touch if you are looking for any assistance with your next event. As little or as much as you need are here to help.

Swimming with these magical beautiful creatures is something that will stay with me forever.

2 of us had two dolphins swimming beside us. We could hear them chatting to each other. They would swim ahead then come back to us. At one point I had a dolphin right beside me making eye to eye contact.

They would dive down then turn and come back swimming straight up towards us.

We just kept swimming following them. It was then we saw the rest of them. Some with their calfs.

I will never ever tire of the sound and the sights under the sea.

Another fabulous ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review from delighted clients

"What an exceptional experience! We had a group of 5 up in Speyside and wanted to find something really fun and different. Not only did Mhairi set us up with an amazing instructor for some clay shooting (Jim), she also helped us find the most amazing location in Pittodrie House. What a dream!

Everything was finely prepared, even with tea and coffee at the shoot! We then went right into a nice sit-down lunch. That whole portion of the trip was designed with a lot of care and attention for us.

We loved every minute of it and only wished we had set up more events with her and her team. She is the best and we will be calling Glad Rags again in the future!!!"

James contacted Glad Rags Events in March wishing to organise some clay Shooting for himself and his 4 travelling companions in September. They had a busy schedule but wanted some time out for this experience. Coming from America it was important to showcase in the short time we had with them a truly magical Scottish experience.

Pittodrie House was the perfect location for them, the shooting takes place on the front lawn, so no time wasted travelling. The magnificent house is grand but welcoming, cosy with a roaring crackling fire in the lounge as you enter.

The autumnal colours were just stunning, the sky a sparkly blue and the sun shone, shadows were long.

Brief | "Clay Shooting - Great Setting - Aberdeen / Cairngorms / Dufftown triangle if that makes sense".

We look forward to discussing your next event, occasion or experience.

Glad Rags Events produced world class events to global guests, surpassing expectations and described as an "impossible act to follow"

"We recently ran a World Cup sailing event under the auspices of Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club and Mudhook Yacht Club which was a week long regatta with over 150 people.

We planned high quality socials in the evenings with 8 social events over the 7 days, including , Civic Reception, Sailing Suppers, Seafood Extravaganza, Highland Games, Whisky Tasting, Owners Dinner, Magical Scottish Evening. They were fantastic events which would not have been possible without the professionalism and dedication of Mhairi ably assisted by her team.

Hosting some very smart people from all over the world was a challenge but no detail was too small for Mhairi to address, and we had delighted attendees.

As one of them said ‘this will be an impossible act to follow’ – great work .
Mhairi! Goodness knows how many hours you put into making this happen".

The events industry is one that I have been lucky enough to be part of for a very long time, I still love it and being immersed in large, complex, back to back events which had a global reach was a privilege, it was fun and it reinforced just how much it's still the industry for me.

To receive the following email from our catering partners along with the phenomenal feedback from the yacht owners and crews has been the cherry on the top of the yummiest of cakes.

I hope you have recovered from the wonderful 8m World Cup Championships held at The Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club.

I wanted to congratulate you on co-ordinating and orchestrating an outstanding week long event - communication with you in the 6 month run up to the event was excellent and your natural instinct to pull all the relevant suppliers together to work as a team and support each other was first class.

During the event itself, you worked closely with us to ensure that details were as should be and to help us manage some exceedingly challenging situations weather wise. Your communication style is straightforward and supportive, your attention to detail excellent and your creative eye delivered a world class event that we were very proud to be a part of .

In short, working with you was an absolute pleasure and I was thoroughly impressed with your level of professionalism and attention to detail exhibited start to finish.

Kind regards,

Carole
