What I see in dried flowers…

I see memories — a single stem that tells a story.
Something that lasts longer than a few days or a fleeting week.
Each piece holds emotion.

At home, I have one arrangement that brings me peace.
Within it, carefully chosen stems speak quietly to my soul.

Some were dried by my mum, a surprise — flowers from my wedding.
Some mark milestones in my career.
Some simply bring me joy because of their natural beauty.

Yes, over time their colours fade. But I have beautiful images to hold onto, to keep those memories bright.

For now, this is my peaceful place.
A small, calm moment in the middle of a world that often feels so hectic — and sometimes so heavy.

Moody textures & timeless romance. 🌾

Part of the installation, captured just before its final setup in the main room — yet already in harmony with the historic brick and industrial soul of the space. Even unfinished, it complements the raw beauty of the building around it. 🌿✨

This week has been heavy.
Drained, stretched thin, and emotionally worn. The weight of everything seemed to settle in the quiet moments — like these dried flowers beneath a cold window, still holding form even after the bloom has passed.

But the light above… that’s what I’m holding onto.

The documentary is officially wrapped — and I’m proud. It’s been a powerful, emotional journey, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it. Telling these stories, capturing raw moments, and seeing it all come together has been nothing short of transformative.

Now, I’m looking ahead with hope and excitement — ready to recharge, and already planning projects with some truly inspiring artists.

Sometimes the hardest weeks are the ones that mark the beginning of something new.

P.S thank you for teaching me some phone camera skills to get this cool image!

🎬 Watch this space!

Filming for the documentary kicked off this past week and what an incredible start it’s been. So much fun already — can’t wait for what’s next and to see how it all comes together on screen! 📽✨

Ok last one I promise, but who doesn’t love a close up and if it’s fluffy! • • • • •

Following on from my last post, here’s a closer look at how I bring dried flowers into sculptural forms. This piece was created using sustainably sourced and home-dried stems, woven into a handcrafted frame. I wanted it to feel grounded and architectural, yet still delicate—like it’s holding a story within it.

Each piece I make is more than floristry. It’s a form of storytelling through natural materials, movement, and structure. The work isn’t just about beauty; it’s about memory, landscape, and transformation.

Created in my studio at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, where the textures of the old buildings and the creative energy around me constantly inspire new ideas.

𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝

I called this piece In the Absence of Sound because it’s about the quiet that follows after something ends—a gathering, a conversation, a moment. It’s about what lingers in stillness.

The dried flowers are suspended midair, like a memory caught between holding on and letting go. The broken chair, the empty space—they hint at people who were once there, and maybe the traces they left behind. There’s a tension between life and decay, beauty and ruin, and I wanted to hold that in the air.

This installation is my way of exploring the kind of silence that isn’t empty—it’s full of presence, full of story. It’s the kind of quiet you notice when everything else falls away.

Huge thank you to _film for spending the day filming this piece with me—I’m so excited to see how it all comes together. And a big thanks to Sam and Meg for not only letting me use this beautiful space but also for helping with all the moving and transporting. Couldn’t have done it without you all. ❤️
