The Nelson Inn restored.

In 1805 the owner of Hibson Farm, Mathew Pollard, built the Lord Nelson Inn, a smithy, and some cottages around the junction of the Turnpike Roads.

In 1849 the East Lancashire Railway Company opened a Station at Hibson. They named the stop 'Nelson for Barrowford', after the Inn, which was classed as the most significant structure in the area.

Over the next twenty years over 2,000 terraced houses and many cotton mills would come to surround the Inn.

In 1864, a local board was formed and given the name Nelson.

This original building was demolished in 1895 and to mark the new town's wealth the more impressive Lord Nelson Hotel was constructed to replace it.

I particularly like the horse stood by the entrance.🍺🐴

The oak-beamed ale-house was build in 1760 on the old coach road between Colne and Hebden Bridge, when it was known as the Dog & Partridge.

The name changed again to The Shooters Inn during the 20th Century.

The Inn was a favourite with the miners of Catlow Quarry, who were paid in Gold Coins, often spent them on a pint of ale and a portion of 'Stew and Hard' (a local dish).
