Last week, Best of British Events was at The Waldorf Hotel, in London for a special event, which was dedicated to the 80th D-Day Anniversary.

It was an honour to be joined by Veterans, as well as Richard Dannatt CBE – former Head of the British Army, Nicholas Witchell – BBC’s Royal Correspondent & News Broadcaster for over 40 years and Founder of the British Normandy Memorial Trust and TV Personality and former co-host of Top Gear, Richard Hammond at this moving event.

180 guests joined us for this moving event, and with their support, we raised £15,000 which will be donated to the British Normandy Memorial Trust.

Due to the recent calling of The General Election for the 4th July, Kay Burley will unfortunately no longer be able to attend the up and coming Best of British Events London Lunch due to her extensive broadcasting commitments as she leads the overnight coverage on Sky News.

However...

We’re delighted to announce that we will now be joined by a very special guest speaker in the form of TV Personality – RICHARD HAMMOND – Co-host of the ever popular Top Gear for 13 years before re-joining co-stars Jeremy Clarkson & James May for the equally successful The Grand Tour.

Richard combined his passion for cars and the military in taking on a very special project ahead of the 80th anniversary D-Day commemorations when he fully restored Field Marshall Montgomery’s Rolls-Royce! The car was made in 1939 and served as “Monty’s” staff car in France and Germany. It was the very FIRST civilian vehicle to disembark in Normandy after D-Day, landing on Juno Beach.

Today the world marks 80 years since D-Day. This afternoon, 25 heads of state, veterans and officials will commemorate the 80th anniversary on Omaha Beach.

Next month, BBC Broadcaster and founder of the British Normandy Memorial Trust, Nicholas Witchell, will be joining Best of British Events London for this special event dedicated to the 80th D-Day Anniversary.

Since 2009, Best of British Events has generated over one million pounds in aid of various charitable causes.

Last year, with the generous contributions of guests and sponsors, we raised over £120,000 for charities including Care for Veterans , Taylor-Made Dreams , Focus Foundation , Chailey Heritage Foundation , Children's Respite Trust , Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity, St Barnabas House, and the Starr Trust .

Linford Christie OBE is a Jamaican-born British former sprinter and athletics coach. He is the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major competitions open to British athletes: the Olympic Games, the World Championships, the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Renowned for his speed, he also made history as the first European athlete to shatter the 10-second barrier in the 100-meter dash, maintaining the British record in the discipline for nearly three decades.
