Wow how time flies….and then just like that it was autumn again… Already I am clearing beds, tidying up, planting bulbs and new crops planning ahead for the next growing season as this one comes to an end. The cold is on its way and my chrysanthemums are about to pop. Fingers crossed jack frost gives me 2 more weeks so we get to enjoy them in their full splendor. My first bespoke autumn wreath went out yesterday. Willow wreath base (from my home grown willow) with all locally grown hops, hydrangeas, nigella pods, statice and panicum grass. Dm me to order yours or better still come and chat to me at Whitstable Farmers Market this Saturday Lx

Happy Imbolc blessings my flowery friends. The celebration of Imbolc or St Brigits Day marks the beginning of spring in the Celtic calendar. The 1st of February is midpoint between winter solstice and the spring equinox. On this day in Ireland people make St Brigits crosses from reeds, straw and willow to hang on the door or stable to protect from fire, evil and hunger. Making this little willow cross today really made my hands ache and I had to let go and start again several times before I finished it. Bending and holding lively fresh willow between just a finger and thumb is hard work! There really are plenty of signs of spring in the flower field now. Bulbs and herbaceous perennials are showing their growing tips and buds forming and the days are definitely getting visibly longer. Hold on Spring is definitely in the air. Lx

Hello my flowery friends don’t forget it’s our this Saturday 28th at The Old Coal Yard at the bottom of Millstrood Road. I will be there with my all British grown flowers and Kent foliage. This picture is from last year and taken on February 11th. Just a reminder the big day of Love ❤️ on the 14th Feb is coming at us fast. You know how time flies! Come and chat with me about sustainably grown flowers and floral gift ideas for Valentines Day this year and why you will never ever find a red rose anywhere in site in February…(unless it’s a dried one of course carefully captured at its seasonal best in summer and dried gently to preserve its everlasting beauty). My limited delivery slots have begun to fill so please come and book yours or dm me to avoid disappointment. Hope to see you there. Lx.

Happy New Year 2023 my flowery friends! I just had to share this picture with you of one of my favorite bouquets of the whole year with a record 3 and a half week vase life so far….this gorgeous amaryllis still has a fourth bud about to open so plenty of vase life left yet. I have kept the water clean and fresh changing it every day or two and recut the amaryllis stem twice in all that time and it still looks so beautiful 😍I would like to also take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all my lovely customers that supported my little business in 2022…🙏 and here’s to another successful flowery growing season in 2023. See you at the Whitstable Farmers Market again soon on the 14th with non christmassy all British grown bunches of the first highly scented narcissi from Cornwall and gorgeous tulips from Lincolnshire all mixed with our lovely Kent foliage to give your kitchen tables a new whiff of spring…it’s on the horizon..hang in there Lx
