Why did I choose wedding planning?

I've always been captivated by the magic of a wedding. The look in the bride and grooms' eyes as they catch their first glimpse of each other...Proud parents watching from the front row...Friends and family celebrating two very special people say "I DO". These are all the moments that I enjoy when planning a wedding. Combine these magical moments with my love of organisation, my planning skills and my attention to detail, wedding planning becomes the obvious choice.

Let’s talk ‘Save the Date'

You may not have thought about sending out ‘save the date’ cards for your wedding however, I highly recommend sending these out as soon as you have your venue booked and guest list confirmed particularly if your wedding date is well in advance.

‘Save the date’ means your guests have plenty of notice and they can allocate that day for your wedding in their diaries, giving them plenty of time to plan their wedding outfits, travel, accommodation, time of work (if required) and childcare.

A ‘save the date’ card needs to include your names, the date of your wedding, location and your chosen venue details.

Your wedding ‘save the date’ cards help set the style and feel of your wedding and gives guests a little sneak peak of what your big day will be like and create a sense of excitement of what is to come.

WEDDING SHOES - tips for finding the perfect pair…

The style of your shoe is important but so is being comfortable. Wedding days are long days and you will likely be on your feet for most of it, so choose something that’s going to be kind to your feet.

Consider heel height. Go for a heel height that you normally wear, that you can walk in and feel comfortable in.

Think about the flooring of your venue and your journey in between. Is it carpeted or hard floor? Will there be cobbles, stones or will you be walking on grass? All these things have an impact on whether you choose stiletto heels, block heels, wedges or flats.

You can buy your shoes before or after choosing your dress. Either way you will need to try them on with your dress so the hem can be altered to the right length.

Most importantly wear your shoes in to make sure they will be comfortable on the day.
And don’t forget that important pedicure to make your feet look and feel great in your chosen wedding shoes!!

Thinking about what kind of wedding you want is a fun thing to do in the early stages of your engagement. To make your wedding day truly yours.....

Think about what's important to you and to you as a couple. Think about your likes, interests, favourite colours, holidays, favourite foods and your favourite flowers.
Ask yourselves what kind of day do you want? Do you see yourselves having a casual or formal day, an intimate affair or lavish celebration?
Also what kind of style do you envisage your wedding day to be? Elegant, classic, modern, romantic, minimalist or rustic chic.

Getting clear on your overall vision at this early stage will help ensure your wedding is a personal reflection of you as a couple and will make your decision making process easier along the way.

There is so much to think about when it comes to planning your perfect wedding and you're not quite sure where to begin. I've put together these 5 tips to help you get started on your wedding planning journey...

1. Determine what type of wedding you would like.
2. Draw up a guest list so you know roughly how many people you need to plan for.
3. Determine your budget - if you don't know how much you have to spend you can't make any final decisions.
4. Select a venue and save the date.
