This week marked the 2 year anniversary of the very first lockdown announcement in the UK.

That week I set myself a goal of getting an interactive Zoom show off the ground quickly and I achieved it! It’s come on a long way since then in terms of content and production value but the aim of making it interactive and fun hasn't changed.

Also pleased to report that Mrs Fell managed to survive numerous ‘pick any card’ assaults through every lockdown!

I've lost count of the number of virtual magic shows I've done but regardless of that it can always be a little nerve wracking when I end the show, say goodbye and click the 'leave meeting' button.

Did they like it? Did I provide the entertainment they paid for? Was it MAGIC enough!?

Self doubt can always creep up and the one thing I've never taken a look at before is the 'Room chat log' - Tonight I did and wow! I think I fulfilled my purpose!

Another great show for my number 1 customer tonight…. Amazon!

I really enjoy performing for Amazon and have now done many shows for their employees all around the world.

It’s also a two way street as with the amount of brown boxes which arrive at my house most weeks (who am I kidding - every other day!), I often feel like I am their number one customer!

Someone asked me this weekend if I had started Christmas shopping…

Straightaway it turned my head to the weeks ahead and planning for what is always a busy events time; whilst some companies will no doubt be planning a return to the traditional office party (and great that they are!) there are many out there that are embracing a virtual entertainment routine - and that’s where I can help you!

Well what a summer! Some brilliant days out with the kids; trips to the seaside, too much ice cream and back to performing magic to a live in person audience!

What a feeling to be back in front of people and not a screen. It’s always an honour to be asked to perform my magic and even more so to be entertaining at a wedding reception - by the looks of it everyone enjoyed the tricks!

A common question I'm asked is; 'Is the show suitable for children?'

I'm pleased to say the answer is YES! Whilst 95% of my shows are targeted at (and performed for) adult corporate customers, I have several specific routines that I perform just for children and for family shows. These include one routine that makes a child the star of the show and ends with them receiving a rapturous round of applause!

So if you are looking for something to treat your family, team or company through the last stretch of lockdown (in the UK anyway) then please get in touch!

Secret Cinema...

I've been so fortunate to have been booked by amazing people working in some brilliant companies, and this week I got to debut my show to a business considered to be one of the most creative in the entertainment industry - Secret Cinema! I feel part of the appeal of my show is that, like their worlds, I have made it interactive for everyone attending; even for 1,000+ participants!

I’m often asked what inspires me and there are many things and many people that do, but with my magic it has to be these guys. Penn & Teller have been a constant for me throughout. They sparked my curiosity, intrigue and ultimately love of magic. They have epic tricks, simple tricks and stunningly clever tricks - they stick to classic storytelling and they have never wavered in their approach. Consummate professionals.

I’ve been fortunate to see their stage show many times and from their own Las Vegas theatre where they have held a residency for over 30 years. I am so looking forward to getting back to seeing and taking part in live in person entertainment when we can do so!

I performed my first on stage magic trick to a small audience during a talent show assembly at Bushloe High School (BHS!) nearly 30 years ago! I can't remember how it was received but I'm fairly sure it would have been a show to forget!

Since April 2020, I've performed my virtual show to 1,000s of people from all around the world and for such a wide variety of people. From large corporate clients and award ceremonies to staff parties and celebrating lockdown birthdays with families.

I am loving spreading surprise and smiles at the moment and I am looking forward to doing more of it over the coming months!

On world mental health day I think it’s important to raise awareness of the need for positive mental health and well-being, particularly for men. Performing magic for others is something that is very fulfilling for me. I love performing magic and making others laugh and smile; hopefully brightening others’ days and raising smiles in these challenging times. Gaining feedback like this is positively uplifting and reinforcing for me.
