We are aware that alumni tickets sold out incredibly quickly last weekend – thank you so much! As a result, we have decided to release a second round of alumni tickets. Unfortunately, this release is limited. Please read the following points regarding these tickets:

(1) 50 tickets will be released for Somerville and Jesus Alumni at 11am GMT on Saturday 29th January 2022.
(2) Unfortunately, we cannot release any more tickets than this owing to our limited capacity and prioritisation of current students.
(3) These tickets will not include the option to bring a guest. The logic behind this decision is to encourage those who had coordinated getting tickets with their friends but missed out last week to purchase these tickets.

🌱 The Somerville-Jesus Ball Environmental Charity donation 🌱

The Green Belt Movement (greenbeltmovement.org)

The Somerville-Jesus Ball organising committee considers sustainability to be a very important part of our job, and we know that Oxford college balls tend to be unsustainable and often wasteful. In an effort to combat this, we are working on a few initiatives to make the ball more sustainable, one of which is donating £1 per ticket to an environmental charity. We chose the Green Belt Movement because of its commitment to not only environmental rehabilitation but also to local communities and women on the ground.
More information about our other efforts to keep the ball sustainable as coming soon!

The Green belt movement is an organization founded by Professor Wangari Maathai in Kenya in 1977. It focuses on empowering women in small communities to plant trees in order to improve soil quality, store rainwater, and provide food for their families. In their own words their mission is to “strive for better environmental management, community empowerment, and livelihood improvement using tree-planting as an entry point”. Since 1977 they have planted over 51 million trees in the 5 major mountain ecosystems in Kenya helping to repair the watersheds in those areas. Advocacy has always been a major part of the ethos of the organisation, especially supporting women affected by climate change. Wangari Maathai won the Nobel Peace prize in 2004 for her political work in Kenya with the Greenbelt movement and the National Council of Women of Kenya.

- There will be a limited number of tickets reserved for alumni that will be available to purchase via the newly made ticketing platform OXEX.
- These tickets will be released on Saturday 22nd January at 11am GMT
- There will also be the option of adding one guest onto your order
The guest does not have to be an Oxford student or alumnus
- You will not need a unique link to purchase tickets
- Tickets will be purchasable via the normal link to our OXEX event page:

Alumni ticket: £120
Alumni guest ticket: £125

🎟 Ticketing information:

- There will be a limited number of tickets reserved for alumni that will be available to purchase via the newly made ticketing platform OXEX.
- These tickets will be released on Saturday 22nd January.
- There will also be the option of adding one guest onto your order
- We will send an email in the morning of the 22nd January with a link that will take you directly to the ticketing webpage.
- The link will be unique to alumni, so if any non-alumni purchase tickets using this link, they will be refused entry (unless they have been added as a guest)

✨TICKET RELEASE INFORMATION!!! ✨

Tickets for Somerville and Jesus Students will be available for purchase on the Saturday of 1st Week (22nd January 2022)!

Somerville and Jesus students will also be able to purchase a guest ticket when they purchase their own ticket. The guest can be a non-Oxford student or an Oxford student.

Ticket price for Somerville and Jesus students: £105
Ticket price for their guest: £115

All Somerville and Jesus students on the Oxford bursary will also be eligible for reimbursement of £40 when they purchase their ticket. The respective colleges will manage the system of reimbursement so as to ensure that those on the Oxford bursary remain anonymous to the ball committee.

The date of release for all other Oxford students will be the 29th January 2022 (Saturday of 2nd week)!

Ticket price for Oxford students: £115

Alumni tickets will be sorted separately (more info to come soon)
