And that's a wrap! 🎉
Technically the summer season ended around start of October, but still been the odd hire, and several indoor bookings.
A massive thank you to everyone who has either hired from me or mentioned me to family, friends or on Facebook posts. As a small and still fairly new business, it means a lot. 🥰
This year has definitely been my most challenging. After adding up the bookings, about a fifth of bookings were unable to go ahead due to either high winds or rain, and a lot of painful days drying and cleaning castles that have gotten wet.
Let's hope next year is a great year for both weather and castles.🤞 Some new additions coming for 2024 too! 🤩
Don't forget indoor hires and disco packages are available all year round.

Time for the end of month(ish) post, and what a crazy July it's been! 🤪
With such awful weather recently, about 2 thirds of bookings were sadly unable to go ahead, either because of high wind speeds or this blinkin' rain we keep having. And when most have gone out, they've got wet at some point, meaning having to dry and clean them.
But... at least we've managed to provide several hires still for young one's special days and the weather is finally picking up for the rest of August. 🤞🌞

☀️😎 Now the castle season has begun, here is some important information I would like to share with you, which you may not be aware of and to ensure you have a safe and reliable hire. 🧐

⚠️ By law, inflatables have to be safety tested annually. This is either by P**A or ADiP. You will know this if they have their tag on the front of the castle. You can see the blue P**A tags on mine.
⚠️ By law, inflatables can not be used on hard surfaces outside unless pegged down. Sandbags are not enough as each anchor point requires a minimum of 163kg each, and a minimum of 6 anchor points must be used.
⚠️ By law, all electrical equipment has to be Portable Appliance Tested (PAT) annually for safety.
⚠️ Inflatables have strict weather conditions. Rain is one issue because of electrical equipment and inflatables become dangerous when wet. But also, inflatables must not be used in windy conditions where speeds exceed 24mph (including gusts).
⚠️ The hirer should also have adequate Public Liability Insurance (PLI). This is not only to protect them, but your property and guests.

✅ With Col's Castles, you can be rest assured that you are in safe hands as I have all these measures in place and take the safety of children very seriously. Just the insurance and P**A testing alone for only 4 inflatables costs me £800 a year.
❗️Please be sure to check with anyone you are hiring from that they have these requirements, to ensure your children have a fun but importantly a safe experience. ❤️

Despite some hires sadly not able to go ahead this weekend due to bad weather, we luckily managed to have some castles out Sunday in the 🌞
Let's hope the sun comes back out for the next week's hires. 🤞

☀️ I didn’t want to bore your news feed with posts each week, so here is a bundle of different castle combinations people have hired over the last few weeks, including this weekend’s summer fairs for 2 schools. 🥳

😁 I will be testing my new castle tomorrow and posting pics up of this next week. Can’t wait to test it out, especially for my nephew’s birthday tomorrow! 🎉

June and July are almost fully booked; thanks to you for booking and recommending me! 🥰

🥵 Been on a 3-hour round trip after work to collect my new artwork, which can be applied on all of my castles. 🤩
Can you guess what they are? 🧐

🥳 Also, collected my 9ft by 11ft castle which after checking this weekend, will be available to hire from next Monday! 🎉
And my new large slide is due by end of June too. Woohoo! 😁

💨💨 STRONG WINDS THIS WEEKEND! 💨💨

I take safety with my hires extremely important. 🛡👦👶👧🛡
‼️ PLEASE be very concerned of any companies still hiring! 🚫

Your family, children, and their friends' safety and lives come 1st- before my business and income.
The last thing I would ever want to do is stop a hire; not only is it disappointing for the children, I lose my income too when hires are cancelled.
Obviously, castles can't be used in rain, but winds? 🧐 Well.... It's a shame when the weather is gorgeously sunny, but please note large inflatables are very susceptible to wind. High wind speeds can cause (and have in recent news) incidents where the castle is moved/blown over sadly resulting in injuries and even death to children.
The H.S.E. Gov.* states 24mph is the legal limit.
This weekend the wind speeds exceed this massively, forecast up to 33mph!!
Please don't risk your child's lives by going with disreputable companies- they are breaking the law and endangering your family.

Arriving in time for summer, I am enhancing our services by offering large 4ft multi-coloured LED numbers as an extra to our children's discos or bouncy castle bookings. 🎉
I have only ordered the numbers 5 & 6 atm as they are the most popular aged parties we provide, but hoping to expand further by buying additional numbers at a later date. Watch this space! 🤪
