Autumn is a truly magical time to get married! Here are my top tips to help you plan a seamless and unforgettable autumn wedding:

📆Book Early! Autumn is in high demand, so start viewing venues as soon as you can. When you find the perfect one, book it right away to secure your dream date.

⛅Prepare for All Weather. The UK is known for unpredictable weather! Be prepared for both sun and rain. Have a backup plan for any outdoor activities, and consider having umbrellas or blankets on hand to keep your guests comfortable.

🍁Embrace the Season. Lean into the natural beauty of autumn! Choose a venue with lots of trees to highlight the beautiful colours. These make for a stunning natural backdrop in your wedding photos.

🔥Find a Cosy Venue. Look for a venue that feels warm and inviting, but still offers access to the outdoors for those golden-light moments. Barns are a perfect example, combining rustic charm with versatile spaces.

Autumn Flowers: Beyond the Twigs and Leaves! 🍂

If you're one to think that autumn is all about dried leaves and twigs, you are most definitely wrong! 😜

There's an abundance of beautiful seasonal blooms and foliage that are still going strong into the autumn months. Find a local florist that can source your flowers from here in Essex and knows exactly what's best at this time of year—and if you need some help, just ask! 😉

When you can create such vibrant bursts of colour from local and seasonal blooms, why would you need anything more?!

This arrangement by Essex-florist The Petal Girl is the perfect example of a stunning autumn design. It combines dried, fresh, and foraged elements and would make the most perfect table centre at an autumn wedding.

If you long for an outdoor autumn wedding but it's just a little too risky, then bring the outdoors in! Use twigs, branches, and leaves inside your venue and blend them with your interior design to create an autumnal haven indoors. Adding fairy lights, Edison bulbs, and candles will enhance the golden tones of your colour scheme and create that magical atmosphere. ✨

Autumn Weather: A Photographer's Dream 🍂✨

I don't know about you, but I find that the weather in autumn can be absolutely fantastic! I'll never forget my own wedding—in the middle of October, we had clear blue skies and glorious sunshine.

Autumn can produce some of the most beautiful days for a wedding. You don't have to worry about the heat of summer, and it's still warm enough to enjoy being outside, unlike winter. Being Britain, though, the weather is still unpredictable, so it's always best to be prepared! Have an indoor backup for any outdoor activities, and keep umbrellas and blankets on hand to keep your guests dry and warm.

Consider pairing your outfit with a few stylish accessories to keep the weather at bay—a chic lace or faux fur bolero, three-quarter sleeves on your dress, or a cape or jacket. And just in case, having some backup wellies on hand for fun photos is always a great idea if the heavens decide to open!

And the light... did I mention the light? The light in autumn is pure magic—it's a photographer's dream! The golden hour hits at the perfect time of day, so your photos don't have to interfere with any of your other wedding day activities. It adds soft, natural tones to your photos, giving you a warm, golden aura. For the most perfect light, grab some photos around 45 minutes before and 45 minutes after sunset.

The light alone does something magical in the autumn—the way it dances through the trees, creating an enchanting golden glow that you simply won't see at any other time of the year.

Beyond the perfect weather, you'll also often find great value this season, as suppliers are a little less busy and there are less holidays to contend with.
