Posted by the Venue, deeming this situation as “out of their control” we now feel we have no choice but to announce it ourselves.

Forest Fest will not be going ahead which is so incredibly disappointing.

We are currently looking into alternative venues for our Christmas Market so cannot confirm at this stage whether it will go ahead as planned or not.

Obviously months of hard work has gone into these events to create some fun & laughter for all to enjoy but heartbreakingly it’s not meant to be as communication has broken down.

We are not in the habit to put ourselves or anyone in an unhappy situation therefore with being so disrespected we are withdrawing from a negative environment.

Refunds will be issued of course for those who have purchased tickets. We’re sorry to those who applied to trade at the event but this is why we haven’t responded to applications yet and now won’t be doing so. For clarification, as a few people are stating they were booked, no bookings had been made as we haven’t gotten to stage of reviewing applications made.

We’re sorry to those who were looking forward to attending.

Spring is fast approaching which means applications are soon closing.

We will be closing applications on Wednesday 20th March. Priority for Christmas Market is given to those who apply before this date and any remaining pitches (if any) will reopen at a later date however at this stage, we cannot guarantee that your preferred pitch would still be available.

We have 4 different pitch types, Indoor, Veranda, Pole Barn and Gazebo. (Veranda and Pole Barn are outside but fully covered) - some of these fill very quickly due to the demand we receive.

I would be very surprised if we had anything other than Gazebo Pitches available (even still, gazebo is no guarantee) after we close applications and go through them end of March.

Forest Fest Pitches are indoor only other than Street Food Traders. There are NO Gazebo Pitches unless you are a Street Food Trader.

We only have a couple of months left before applications close for the year!

If you’re a maker, baker or creator (see what I did there 👀) then get applying now!

Christmas especially is a big one, it takes me months and months to organise so I’m sorry I’m talking about it in Jan but I’m afraid it can’t happen unless I do. Now in our third year, it’s bigger than ever and somehow little ol me has created an event that so many people love. The word has spread especially after last years market and it will likely take me months to just go through the applications hence I need to start earlier in the year. So sorry for talking Xmas in Jan but if you want to be a part of this event, this Xmas then get your applications in now!

Xmas ‘24 applications are coming in thick and fast!!

Friendly reminder that applications will close in Spring so get applying now before it’s too late. It might feel like we’re never going to get there as it’s so cold but trust me it’s really not that far away!

This also seems like a great time to also remind everyone that our venue is fantastic and has a lot on site already so we won’t be accepting applications for Bars, Coffee or Cake as it’s already available without any input from us!

I’m definitely getting hungry looking at street food vendor applications for sure! This will be the best market yet!

I’ve had so much more interest for Forest Fest than I could have ever imagined.

I have over 200 emails from Musicians alone that want to play at the Event.

As it will be on August Bank Holiday, it is obviously the busiest time of year for The Dower House and will be a fully booked site (if you want to book, do it sooner than later)

Due to this and safeguarding their guests, we have to be strict on external numbers coming in so have to make the decision to ticket the event so we are able to control how many people can come in on top of the guests already camping.

With it also being a full site, we have very limited parking so will be asking as many as possible to either walk, or get dropped off and picked up by someone else or a taxi.

We don’t want to exclude anyone that isn’t staying onsite but do unfortunately have to be strict with this otherwise it just won’t work and considering how many people are interested in this event, we want to make it work.

I just never could have imagined how popular this would be, I’m so grateful.

Without this, I’m unable to review your Application thus making it void so please make sure the link is correct before you press submit as there’s no way of editing this afterwards.

A BIG Thank you to all who traded with us this year, I know the Weather wasn’t quite on our sides on Saturday but we really appreciate that so many of you still turned up and made the most of it!

We have received phenomenal feedback and although we didn’t quite have the footfall anticipated due to the rain, everyone who visited loved every moment and the money was definitely flowing with some Traders selling out!

We have made a few changes to next year, some were already planned but as we only had a couple months to organise this year’s Market just weren’t possible this year.

We have made the decision to push our Market back a few weeks and for 2024, we will be going ahead on Sunday 1st December, hoping to appeal to an even bigger audience being that much closer to Christmas. We also have provisions to add up to another 40 Stalls outside!

We will also be bringing double pitches back as so many of you loved that addition this year!

The Dower House Team have only operated here since the very end of July and are working tirelessly to update the site and bring it to the absolute best it can be so do expect lots of great additions to the site from their end also!

I will be doing Applications differently this time around; Applications are now open, however I will not be reviewing these until Spring 2024. As we do not double up on our Traders, we are very particular about who we do accept, operating this way allows me to review everything and make the best decisions I can possibly make regarding Traders. I am known for being fussy already but this will only be stepped up moving forwards. We don’t have any other Markets this size in our area so I do feel it’s very important to only select the very best to attend! I know it seems crazy to apply a year ahead however I would urge to apply as early as you can. I received over 500 Applications this year with just 2 Months of advertising so logically this number could increase given more time and if it does go crazy, I may pull forward the cut off date but we will see how things go for now!

And that’s a wrap on Xmas 2023 from us!

Fantastic turnout considering the weather. Thank you to all our wonderful traders who braved it and made the most of it!

Not quite the event we anticipated but the weather couldn’t be helped. Certainly better than calling it off so I’m definitely pleased I stuck to my guns on it.

This event would not have been possible without Lee from The Dower House. We cannot express enough what a pleasure he has been to work with in the lead up and today. What a hero!

All Marshall’s have been a fantastic asset to us today and have really pulled together to assist everyone and done an absolutely stellar job!

Thank you also to Maddy for coming along as our Event Photographer. I can’t wait to see the outcome of these photos and share with you all. Please give Maddy a follow!

I am completely overwhelmed and totally ready to crash now after a 4.30am start but thank you all so much for making this the best day it could be.

Fingers crossed for better weather next year and bringing this Market back to its best!

WE ARE GOING AHEAD

I know some of you, mostly traders are concerned with the weather forecast for Saturday.

We are constantly assessing this and don’t see any reason to panic at this time.

The worst of the storm is down south, and for the most part I’m expecting showers which then blow over in accordance with Met Office.

Breckland is renowned for its sandy soil meaning that when it rains, it soaks away quickly.

I have traded myself at events in high winds and torrential rain and my Gazebo has always been just fine.

If you’re coming to our Christmas Market on Saturday, please just be sensible and dress for the weather. Wrap up warm and wear wellies!

As primarily Sheep Farmers, we are used to being out in all weathers. It’s just rain, it’s nothing to worry about I can assure you!
