North East Expo tomorrow at Newcastle Racecourse. Come along and say hi.
Well Friday evening was another great event for us, supporting Business Beats Cancer Newcastle and @cancer_research_uk (CRUK) with their fundraising ball at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead . Thanks to Graeme Stammers and Chris Breckon for involving Racing Sims North East in the event. Some Great driving throughout the evening, with some healthy good natured competition to raise money for Cancer Research UK (CRUK).

Well a bit of a bonus today, whilst clearing my camera's memory card ready for a Christmas break, I came across some time-lapse footage of an event in the summer supporting Joe Gregory and YouFibre at a community carnival in Ingleby Barwick.
You can see we have 2 rigs in the van on this occasion, our main motion rig, but also our smaller childs rig, which is great for smaller children, as it is more child friendly, not only in size, but also less force feedback in the wheel to prevent little ones getting injured.
I have to say, both rigs were busy all day!!
So not only can we install the rig into your venue, for events or weddings etc, we can also run it from the van, giving more flexibility to its uses and locations.
The history of Formula 1 (F1) computer games dates back several decades, with the evolution of technology enabling increasingly realistic and immersive experiences. Here's a brief overview:
Early Years (1980s):
The early F1 computer games were relatively simple in terms of graphics and gameplay. Titles like "Chequered Flag" and "Pole Position" were among the pioneers in bringing Formula 1 racing to the gaming world. These games were characterized by basic 2D graphics and limited realism compared to today's standards.
The 1990s:
The 1990s saw significant advancements in gaming technology, leading to more sophisticated F1 games. "F1 Grand Prix" (known as "World Circuit" in North America) by Geoff Crammond was a groundbreaking title, introducing realistic physics and graphics for its time. This era also marked the beginning of official F1 licensing in games.
PlayStation Era (Late 1990s - Early 2000s):
The introduction of Sony's PlayStation and other gaming consoles led to the creation of F1 games with 3D graphics and improved realism. Titles like "Formula 1" by Psygnosis and later the "F1" series by Sony's Studio Liverpool became popular among gamers.
Simulation Focus (Mid-2000s):
The mid-2000s saw a shift towards more realistic simulation experiences. Titles like "rFactor" and "rFactor 2" allowed for extensive modding, enabling the community to create highly detailed F1 simulations. SimBin's "GTR" series also gained acclaim for its realistic racing physics.
Codemasters Era (2010s - Present):
Codemasters became a major player in F1 gaming with the release of the "F1" series. Starting in 2010, Codemasters secured the official F1 license and produced annual releases with improved graphics, realistic gameplay, and features such as career modes. The series continued to evolve, incorporating feedback from both casual and hardcore fans.
Recent Developments (2020s):
In 2021, Codemasters was acquired by Electronic Arts (EA), marking a significant development in the F1 ga
Why don't we use VR headsets at our events? This is a frequent question I get asked, here are some of the main reasons...
While VR headsets can provide an immersive racing simulation experience, they come with certain limitations, especially in a live event setting.
Motion Sickness Concerns:
Some individuals may experience motion sickness or discomfort when using VR headsets, especially in a dynamic racing simulation environment. This limitation can impact the number of participants willing to engage with the simulator, particularly if they are sensitive to motion-induced nausea.
Hygiene and Sharing Challenges:
VR headsets require close contact with the face, which raises hygiene concerns in a shared event environment. Proper cleaning protocols are essential between uses to ensure a safe and sanitary experience. Managing and maintaining a high level of cleanliness can be logistically challenging in a busy event setting.
Limited Visibility for Spectators:
Unlike traditional setups where spectators can easily see the screen or monitor, VR headsets limit the visibility for onlookers. This can affect the overall engagement of the audience, as they may miss the exciting action happening within the virtual environment. Consider additional screens or broadcasting solutions to address this limitation.
Technical Glitches and Set-Up Time:
VR systems can sometimes experience technical glitches, and the setup process can be time-consuming. Ensuring that the equipment is calibrated correctly, software is running smoothly, and any potential technical issues are promptly addressed is crucial. Long setup times can impact the overall efficiency of your event.
Cost and Accessibility:
VR headsets and associated equipment can be expensive. Providing a fleet of VR setups for a large event incurs significant costs, which may affect the feasibility, especially for smaller businesses. Additionally, not all participants may be familiar with or comfortable using VR technology, potentia

Making sim racing the highlight of a wedding reception is a unique and exciting idea. Here are five tips to ensure it's a roaring success:
Rev Up the Atmosphere:
Consider setting up the racing simulator in a dedicated, well-lit area with some racing-themed decor. Think chequered flags, racing banners, and maybe even pit stop props. This will not only add a visual appeal but also create a racing ambiance that gets everyone in the mood.
Customized Racing Experience:
Personalize the racing experience by incorporating elements from the wedding. Create custom racetracks featuring landmarks or inside jokes significant to the couple. Perhaps a virtual drive through the location where the proposal happened or a circuit that represents the couple's journey together.
Lap of Love:
Instead of a traditional guestbook, have guests participate in the racing fun. Ask them to record a short video message or sign a racing-themed board, sharing their well-wishes and congratulations. It adds a personal touch and becomes a memorable keepsake for the newlyweds.
Podium Photo Op:
Set up a podium with a first-place trophy and have a mini awards ceremony for the fastest lap times. Encourage friendly competition among guests and let the winners revel in their virtual victory. Capture these moments with photos or even a video to share on social media, showcasing the high-speed festivities.
Racing Wedding Favours:
Extend the racing theme beyond the simulator by offering racing-themed wedding favours. Consider items like mini toy cars, chequered flag-themed cookies, or personalized racing-themed keychains. These souvenirs will serve as a delightful reminder of the unique and thrilling wedding experience.
Remember, the goal is to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience that adds a dash of excitement to the wedding celebration. Happy racing, and may your wedding day be a lap full of love and laughter! 🏁💍
