Meet Kati Hargreaves and Shelley Syme – two women in their thirties, living just around the corner from each other, unaware they shared a common, challenging journey alone as strangers. In 2021, Kati discovered a lump on her breast, swiftly navigating through diagnosis and treatment to receive an all-clear.

Within six months of Kati's experience, Shelley faced a parallel diagnosis, leading to a mastectomy. Kati's straightforward approach to her own treatment, simply asking, 'OK, so when are we taking it out?' set the tone for what was to come.

Together they've embarked on a journey together documenting their experience through their podcast 'One Lump or Two?'. The pair asked me to join them at Shelley's to do them a photoshoot with the simple brief of 'We'd like it to be all things b***s'.

They supplied the props, I kept my finger on the shutter button and they did the rest.

More recently they've been working closely with BBC Radio Oxford and Producer Ed Crofts, producing a BBC Sounds episode that delves into the emotions of being told you have cancer.
