This is interesting and it’s a conversation I have with people frequently. Less than half (45%) of people asked have discussed their funeral wishes with loved ones.

Take this opportunity to talk to children about death. The media is everywhere. Children will hear and see things they may not have the ability to process. It’s our job to answer their questions with honesty and clarity, sensitively.

In London, there's a woman who goes every day on the underground and sits on the platform just to listen to the announcement recorded by her husband in 1950.
Margaret McCollum after the death of her husband Oswald Laurence, sits on the bench waiting to hear this recording that became one of London's most famous "Mind the gap"
In 2003, Oswald died leaving a huge void in Margaret's heart. So Margaret found a way to feel his presence closest.
After more than half a century, this voice was replaced by an electronic recording. Out of distress Margaret asked for this cassette tape from London transport company so she could continue listening to her husband's voice at home.
After becoming aware of the moving history, the company decided to restore the announcement at the stop near where Margaret lives,at the Embankment stop of Northern Line, where all passengers can listen today and hear Oswald Laurence's voice and to think that eternal love really exists.
Wonderful gesture by the authorities

This man has left a wonderful legacy to the world through his stories and illustrations.
The best thing we can do is dig out those books and share them with all our children.
From the Eric Carle Team: It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on Sunday, May 23rd at the age of 91.
When asked why he thinks The Very Hungry Caterpillar has remained popular for so long, Carle said, “I think it is a book of hope. Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent.”

This week I had the absolute privilege of helping a family say goodbye to their much loved, unique and special dad, grandad and great grandad. A genuine hard working family man. Thank you to the family for allowing me to share the photographs of their beautiful floral tributes reflecting his love of his garden and allotment. It’s the personal touches and choices that really do make all the difference 💜
Music is amazing. And used in a ceremony it can be so powerful. The music can speak to you and you can return to it in the days and years to follow.
