You don't have to stay at the venue for your couple photos, or, you could do a post-wedding shoot, with all the time in the world.
We got lucky with the weather this day, pure blue skies here along the Dorset coastline. They had just got married in a beautiful garden with a celebrant who was focused on connecting with the beauty of this Earth, starting with a grounding, followed by a blessing.

Afterwards they wrote on Google (which I still feel shy about reading): "Fiona is an artist worth of greatest recognition. Our wedding was small with 8 people, and having Fiona around felt like having an old friend beside us".

We'd just had our dinner when the most softest warm summer light shone onto this part of the garden. You gotta get outside, I said to Becky and Wallace!
The tree stump is a great platform for which to show off how amazing you look together! especially with the golden light of the evening sun. And I love that gust of wind blowing her dress slightly. Becky looked like she was made for this dress, it was so feminine and flowy.

You can almost hear the music, can't you?! When Wallace and Becky said they're having a ceilidh I got excited, as I had one myself on my own wedding! They. are. fun! It's like your bouncing on a trampoline fuelled by happiness.

Oh my goodness, these two had sore cheeks by the end of the day. Never do you smile more than on your wedding day, at least this was the case for these two. They got married outside, it was a perfect summer's day. Fun, fun, fun, especially with a ceilidh in the evening. Wait until you see the pics from that! Coming soon.

Yes, this is real! My fave place to work in the entire country, this 18thc Devon house is owned by the lovely Carol. There's even a couple of cats around, whom one of them HAS to be right next to you. His name is Murphy.

They got married at The Brickhouse, near Exeter, Brickhouse Vineyard, which is the venue I've worked at most this year. If you're getting married there, I recommend combining it with pictures at the nearby incredible Folly, Thefollydevon.
This has an exceptional garden. You can see a 3 min video of The Folly on my other photography page Fiona Walsh Landscapes, & Gardens where it features the cat, Murphy!

I couldn't have been more delighted doing this wedding. Martin and Jane even brought me flowers before we started to thank me. And, when she arrived at The Brickhouse she gave me a Sainsbury's bag with some lunch in for me!
She was about to walk down the aisle and realised she'd left her bouquet at The Folly. But she did remember my lunch! haha.
Exceptionally kind.

Happy Easter everyone, and happy spring time too! Spring is the time of the year when the Earth giving us a peek of the beautiful blooms yet to come for the year.

Tulips doing their impressive thing in this photo, taken at Hotel Endsleigh. This part of the property is always a delight, you never know what flowers there will be in the beds. Last summer was a lush display of cosmos flowers (which are like big daisies).

Let there be light! And there was an hour more of light, and boy it was good. I always feel like summer is just an arm's length away when the clocks change. Spring is a welcome and hopeful time of year, knowing that warm days are ahead, with lots of weddings to come. I love that first day of the year when experience not having to wear a jacket. It feels so refreshing.

This shot was peak summer, with the most gorgeous light across the grass, and intense shadows and lines from the trees. The couple took a break from their guests to make the most of this lushness.

We stopped off here on the way to the reception. It was a familiar road for them, especially the groom who used to walk down it as a teenager.
I love this shot for those two interesting trees framing the couple.

Here's my lovely couple again from the last post. This was the coast shoot we did after their wedding ceremony. With just 6 people in total at the wedding, it meant they could concentrate on themselves more, and take their time along this coast path.
This was the week of the heat wave, the height of summer. Pure blue sky, blue sea, and warm sunshine, they couldn't have planned it better.

I'm a garden photographer too, so I am always keen to use the landscape in my shooting. Our Earth is to be celebrated too right.

Happy Valentine's Day!!
I hope you're sweeping your loved one of their feet! Or simply just telling them you love them.
These guys got married the way they wanted to. A pagan ceremony, outdoors, just the 6 of them. Making it meaningful with their own traditions. And we even went for a landscape shoot along the coast afterwards.

This shot was done in one of those narrow Devon lanes, that had a really interesting wall. Had to use it! Their lovely friend held the off-camera light for us.

The just-got-married-feeling! Isn't this the moment you envisage? Looking super hot, feeling amazing, being in a beautiful parkland, with your spouse holding your hand. The weather gorgeous, and the party is just about to start.
Olivia's family do weddings at this wedding venue, Escot House, so it was very fitting and very sentimental for Olivia to get married here.

Gotta love a first look between a bride and groom before the ceremony. They just wanted to take the pressure off, and be able to enjoy this special moment in private (apart from me!).
They’re such beautiful moments to photograph. Just look at this love. And happiness!! 🥰

I think there can be a lot of stress for couples planning a wedding, I’ve been a bride myself so I do understand. But I reckon there are things you can do to take the burden off.
These two for example, other than the first look, they just (figuratively) put their hands up and were happy to just go with however the day turned out.
They saw each other in the morning, and importantly they made the wedding about them. They added things that were themed Weinberg their personalities. Their wedding cake was sculpted into Super Mario, and they had a balloon artist.

Rolling back to the summer! Yes! Blue skies. Warm sun. And a coastal shoot on their wedding day.
You don’t have to stay at the venue.

I couldn’t believe my eyes seeing this golden grass, beach, hills, along the cliff. The scene looks so stunning with these two. They just wanted awesome landscape photos, and for the ceremony to be personal. And it was. Set in a garden with a celebrant who acknowledged all the elements, starting with a grounding, and a blessing. Twas very special.

You know those narrow lanes in Devon? Well, that’s what this was except it had this cool wall. So we used it! Oh and it won an award!

These beautiful humans got married the way they wanted to.
It was just the two of them with 6 guests, it was outdoors, with their own traditions included, and we even went for a landscape shoot along the coast afterwards. I’ll post some of those shots shortly.

Their ceremony was so meaningful to them, and I was super humbled when they asked me to tie a ribbon around their handmade piece during their wedding ceremony.

I was curious, so I looked it up; confetti throwing may have origins in Ancient Rome, where wheat cakes were crumbled over the bride’s head… hmmm

I'm in! Thanks to GoHen for including me in the list of the 50 best UK wedding photographers! Wow.
Having been photographing weddings for such a long time, it's a great lift to see this.
Weddings are a mix of everything for us photographers; we feel it all. The nerves, the anticipation, the happiness, the worries, the sheer joy, and the sheer exhaustion. All over about 12 hours of the most intense work I've ever done.

"who says marriage is hard work?"
Captioned by the most excellent of groom's, Steve.

A few days ago I had such a privilege in shooting their wedding. A couple who are so right for each other, it's just exciting.
So chilled out with their day, and even having a balloon artist present to add cheer. So darling they were, Steve was carrying around his monkey balloon and Abi had a bridal balloon around her wrist. They even had a balloon done of their brilliant doggie, Ziggy.

I loved that they choose to see each other before the ceremony. It took the pressure off a bit and allowed them time to appreciate such a sweet and meaningful moment.

Can't wait to show you this one on the blog. Their wedding cake had the theme of Mario cart, i'll just say that!

Big love to this most excellent, chilled, and fun couple, and to all my couples this year and onwards. Let's have fun!

I wish you were there to see it and be in it, but I hope you can feel that you were there from these photos.
I was enamoured with them the whole day, from the first hug offered by the most loving groom I’ve ever met, a beautiful warm and friendly bride, and friends and families who were just the same as them!

Literally everyone got a proper tight hug, probably a minimum of 5 hugs for each person. These guys were definitely making up for the lockdowns by finally getting to hug the ones they love with all their might.

Also, this one had a really fun confetti walk, right in the face!

SOOO pretty.
In the speed of the moment, the camera focused on the confetti for a spilt second and it created this amazing cinematic look. Soft and pretty.
