It was back to Aston Villa tonight for one of their biggest games in recent history. For me it was, once again, a chance to show my versatility in taking in an unfamiliar restaurant and looking after around 130 guests.

Here's a little Burns Night story. Working with a hotel, I was looking after this beautiful couple for their wedding day 5 years ago.
Despite the date, the fact they had a piper AND HAD HAGGIS for their wedding breakfast, the hotel team didn't even consider an address to the HAGGIS.
Fortunately, both I and the gent in pic 2 did, and both had a copy about our person
It went brilliantly.

Did you know today is ? No, nor did I!

Did you know I actually started as a DJ, way back in 1988, and my 35 year career included a stint in the studio on Hospital Radio!

This is why I'm so comfortable speaking to a crowd, know how to make your evening just as special as the rest of your day and why I'm ideally placed to make announcements and introductions - sadly lacking with some modern DJs.

Shout out to all the hardworking, professional DJs I've had the pleasure of working alongside in a very long career!

It's been a busy week at Leicester City FC, with three games in 8 days. Unfortunately, Leicester aren't having a good league run at the moment. Despite this, it's a hospitality manager's job to still be able to take care of guests and ensure they have a good time

Your wedding day isn't affected by football results, but it's still my job to engage with your guests to ensure they have the best day possible celebrating with you!

Football hospitality for the yesterday - managing one of the newer hospitality rooms at . I have a reputation for my versatility, able to walk into a room and run it while maintaining standards and ensuring the guest experience, regardless of the "level" of the restaurant.

It's also a pleasure to work with other teams- including Jay, who was ensuring we were all safe and secure

Following on from yesterday's Morris Dancing posts, it is wonderful to see Morris sides maintaining tradition - traditions going back hundreds of years! New Years Day in Alvechurch also featured a Mummers Play. All the sources I could find treated it as a very academic subject, but in essence its a comedy play with a regular theme (hero kills villain, normally St George and a Turkish warrior) and the dead are brought back to life. The Mummers are almost always men and the plays featuring cross dressing and can be brought up to date with modern and local references - we were treated to Taylor Swift, Gregg Wallace and Elon Musk, as well as an archetypal local whinger! There was hilarity and a charity collection - very much in keeping with tradition!

Weddings too have their traditions - and many of those can be modernised or tweaked - I'm happy to talk you through your options!

I guess its no surprise that, as the Wedding Butler, I love traditions! One of my new favourites is Morris Dancing - and here in the Midlands we have a lot of Morris sides to see! Today being New Years Day Alvechurch Morris hosted their annual Mummers Play and Dance out with Aelfgythe Border Morris and Jerkum Border Morris.
It was a cold day, and a day for portrait shots!

3. Masquerade ball in Shropshire

5. Hospitality Manager at West Brom

These are just a snapshot from over 35 years in events and hospitality, from a West London Pub to Wedding Butler. It's been such a ride, and I'm not getting off yet!

When I support the hospitality at a wedding venue (not as Butler) I hate seeing a bride and groom announced into the room... and then left to find their own way to the top table, seat themselves etc I escort you all the way - five steps ahead though!

Speeches. You know they're part of every wedding day, but that whole section doesn't need to be dull or stuffy. With me as your Master of Ceremonies, there's no banging a gavel or tapping a glass, no call for silence and no awkward fumbling between speakers. Professional, helpful, unique. I can't be there with her, but I can give advice to my niece for the planning of her wedding day on Friday 1. Mentally walk through your day, touch everything. Think about where it's coming from and - crucially - how it's getting to where it needs to be. Everything. Flowers, buttonholes, reserved signs, order of service, place cards - whatever you're having 2. Don't worry about....Well, anything really. As long as you and Wilf get married, nothing else matters at all But do make a little list of photos that you must have! And in life, if you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance 💃
