Do you know what's our first question when you ask about the quote for XX amount of invitations?
"Is that a guest count or invitation count?"
✉️✉️✉️
Most couples forget that one invite goes to a household or a couple so they end up ordering too many invites.
But as often as that, there are also couples that buy not enough invitations and have to re-order.
So how to count the right amount?
✅️ 1) write every couple or household in one line and then count the lines
✅️ 2) don't forget about your closest ones like parents and those who help you organise the wedding. It may be obvious they are invited but it's always a nice gesture to hand out a proper invitation to them too
✅️ 3) if you invite extra guests for the evening only, you will need evening invites for them, your day guests are automatically invited to the evening
✅️ 4) order some spare invites just in case:
- if you miss someone off the list
- if you end up with space for the day to bump someone up of the evening list
- if you accidentally destroy an invite or make a mistake when writing out guest names
- if you want to keep one as a keepsake or for your photographer to take a lovely detail photo
It may seem like a waste of money but belive us, when you need to order additional invites they are often more expensive plus you'll need to pay postage and it's always a chance your supplier won't have a capacity to squeeze another order in. Is it worth the risk?

WHAT IS IT?
Save the date cards are usually sent 12-18 months
before your wedding.They announce an upcoming event date and ask your guests to hold or reserve the mentioned date on their calendar. There is no need to include the wedding venue and time at this stage (but you can, it's absolutely up to you!)
But are they really necessary?
MAYBE NOT A NECESSITY BUT VERY USEFUL IF:
✅ you're planning a SUMMER WEDDING
(people book their holidays quite far in advance)
✅️ you're getting married during SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
(if your friends have kids or are teachers)
✅️ your wedding day falls on a BANK HOLIDAY weekend
✅️ you're getting married MID WEEK
(give your guests plenty of time to request time off work)
✅️ a lot of your guests live OUT OF THE AREA
(give them time to arrange transport and accommodation with better rates)
✅️ you're getting married OVERSEAS
(to give plenty of notice as people would need to save/book their holidays)
✅️ some of your guests have little CHILDREN or you want to have an ADULTS ONLY wedding
(to sort out childcare)
✅️ to avoid DOUBLE date
(and believe me, 2024 will be crazy busy with weddings!)
✅️ you're very EXCITED and it's too early to send out your invitations but you're bursting to tell people
YOU DONT HAVE TO BOTHER THOUGH IF:
❌️ you send your invitations with plenty of time in advance to let everyone plan accordingly
❌️ it's a small intimate ceremony with mostly family and closest friends
❌️ you're getting married locally and most of your guests are local
❌️ you're having an engagement party so it's kind of an
announcement already
❌️ the engagement time is rather short
Of course this above is just a guide. It's totally up to your preference and budget if you send the save the date cards. Anyway worth to think this through!
